CaSTCo Water blitz comparing bacteria and chemistry methods in the Severn

On 25 June 2024, volunteers and partners in the Teme catchment (Shropshire and Worcestershire) helped CaSTCo partners collect samples to test 10+ citizen science water testing methods. CaSTCo is the Catchment. Systems Thinking Cooperative, ensuring people are at the heart of river recovery through integrated citizen science.

Methods tested include: Severn Trent lab testing, Fluidion, IDEXX Colilert, IDEXX Tecta, Aquagenex, EA YSI Probe (multi-parameter), Hanna Checker (phosphates), Hach teststrips (nitrates), Kyoritsu Packtest (phosphate-phosphorus and nitrate-nitrogen), pen-type conductivity meter, and turbidity tubes.
