Why Josh Giddey Could One Day Be the Best Point Forward in the League (FILM BREAKDOWN)

  • Josh Giddey has elite upside-- great passing, positional size and untapped off the dribble potential. What seemed like a reach at pick 6 by OKC now looks like one of the better picks after just seven games. Things you can't always teach like feel, patience, and IQ are already there, and he's doing it against the best defenders in the league. With better players around him in the future and with an improved jumper, I see no reason why he can't one day be amongst the elite in the NBA.

    What impresses me most is his post match interviews. His IQ is immense for a teenager and you can tell he's a student of the game so his ceiling is endless

      No doubt and he's one of those players who will only get better when the roster improves around him, doesn't need 20 shots to impact the game.

    This guy's passing is off the charts, and your spot on about slowing the pace down,
    not comparing but hes got mad larry bird vibes in terms of his IQ/playmaking.
    Love that hes not afraid to drive too.

      When I saw some of these clips Larry was the first guy I thought of. Just off of build and the way he moves on the court. If giddey becomes a consistent rebounder like bird it’s just gonna add to his impact also

    He was doing this shit in the NBL last year. NBA just hasn't really caught on yet that playing pro-ball overseas is way more beneficial than college ball if the prospect is talented enough.

    • @TheKonnorMacShow
      @TheKonnorMacShow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah totally there's some stuff on tape that six year vets don't have as far as the composure and skill level, It's kinda crazy he wasn't really getting a ton of buzz on draft boards until a few weeks before the draft, glad he landed in a good org to develop too.

      @@TheKonnorMacShow Well, he has the height of a PF and Center but his frame and skillset is better at the SF position. If he can lock down of defense, I can see a SGA, Giddy, Poku, Chet (If they get lucky) and Victor Wembanyama (If they get lucky). Rebuild, complete 💯

    knees together is called valgus, it isnt him trying to generate more power, it is a muscle activation weakness causing a leaking of energy, doubt he has even seen a gym at 18/19yrs old from Aus because he would have been playing all the time as a focus, he will eradicate this physical weakness within 12mths, this will also help with his foot placement for long range jumper, wont be an issue as he will be shooting from Steph Curry range

      @TheKonnorMacShow re:lack of athleticism ... this works both ways , for eg. Ja less likely to have Steph or Nash's rinky-dink game around the contested area because Ja M's vertical-game is SOOOOO compelling , thus Ja never gets same rinky-dink game and development of Steph/Nash/Irving/Paul/Stockton because Ja can go upstairs for posters , #Daniel_Kahneman_cascade innit

      @TheKonnorMacShow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      100% that might be an issue down the line if he's in a high level playoff series or something like that on the defensive end. But his size makes up for a ton of errors he might have. You have to think if OKC is picking high enough they take a center who might also cover for some issues.

    Everything "wrong" or "lacking" is very fixable. He didn't go to a D1 College so we must not be any good, right? Sam Presti has done it again, with a few more decent players and using the draft picks wisely (again) OKC could be half decent and Giddey can run an offence (as is already showing now). Ben Simmons had better get back on the court if he wants any love from the Australians down here (including me!)

    • @TheKonnorMacShow
