In Phoenix, I've never seen Salado polychrome at large Hohokam sites but I have found Salado in smaller remote dwellings along with red on buff pottery. Almost as if the larger establishments along the rivers collapsed into smaller remote dwellings later in Polvorôn phase when Salado Polychrome was produced.

You might consider that the vast majority of the Salado Redware (Roosevelt Redware) found in the Phoenix Basin Area is associated with the Polvorôn phase. For Polvorôn phase assemblages see the Polvorôn, Pueblo Salado, Los Muertos, and the Cactus Forest sites. Also a small hint and an important distinction, the Salado series may be closely related to the Tusayan (proto-Hopian), Silver Creek, and Lower Little Colorado traditions, as opposed to Maverick Mountain types that are related to the Kayenta tradition.
