- Walt Clyde Frazier, a two-time NBA champion and one of the greatest Nicks players of all time was the first guy to endorse a sneaker. The PUMA Clydes were named after him in 1973, which set the bar for the future of fashion on and off the court.

Walt Clyde Frazier and Willis Reed were my sports heros when I was growing up as a teenager. I remember in the late 60's I use to buy Chuck Taylor Converse high top sneakers they cost me $6.50. Then in 1973 I bought my first pair of Clyde pumas. They were a light grey suede with the orange puma stripe. They were like $32.00. I thought I was really cool wearing them. Great memories from Clyde Frazier and the NY Knicks in the early 70's!!!! 👍🏀🗽

Walter Frazier rocking the Claws on the MSG hard wood for the Knicks, Joe Willie Namath repping Claws for the Jets on the gridiron at Shea stadium and the New York Yankees Reggie Jackson flossing the Claws on the hollow ground of old Yankee stadium. All cool a#$ cats wearing cool a#$ shoes. In the 1970's, if you considered yourself a true baller, YOU HAD TO HAVE A PAIR OF PUMAS !!!
