Everyone here is amazing. I hate the term "best in the world." As if every dancer in the world has been found, checked out and seen. Somewhere there as a kid dancing that doesn't have the money, opportunity, support or maybe confidence for a worldwide stage. He or she may really be the best in the world.

Totally agree! He was not only one of the most creative and influential Poppers, when I see all the ten of this list he would have beaten everyone of them for certain! Actually a sad thought that there hasn't been that much of a development! I haven't been surprised by new steps or techniques for a long time! Imma get real here. Poppin John was the one who inspired me into dancing. I really liked hiss animation style and started learning all the waves, robots and shit. I have no clue about popping or Hip Hop or even the history of dance. By the time I met real street dancers(hip hop, popping, locking etc), that's when I realise I know nothing at all. And now looking back at Poppin John, I still think he is one of the greatest in animation style especially his control in robot and his incredible waves and isolation and also those Godly glides. But to be honest(maybe it's because I'm more into battle now), if you notice, he is mostly off beat when he pops hard(his dime stops are on point tho). Comparing him to Scott, I personally think Scott have more creativity and more 'dance' in his style. John's movement are too repetitive, although it was super sick. I kinda get bored watching him. Well he is still one of the greatest and a living legend, gotta respect that.

Not sure if he's classified as popper but plasteed is one of my favorites. It's like in most of his pieces and battles he personally knows the songs and his beat riding skills and gimmicks are insane.

@ I hear you on the new skoolers especially Greenteck. Greenteck has it going off in droves. What you have to remember is that without the likes of the old skoolers ie Mr Wiggles, poppin Tacos, Flat top etc there would be no Hoans, Salahs Greentecks etc. Some of these new kids are pretty amazing but a lot of them ARE very generic.
This brings back memories when i pop-locked in the early 80's at 15 years old.. Watching these types of videos again has re-inspired my love to poplock and dance again. Locking back in the 70’s was a art form... starting with “The lockers” ( camel-lock ) tony go go.. fluky Luke... re-run funky pang-wen.. Shabba “ Scooby-do” slim the robot.. Don Campbell..... when they performed it was always a story behind it to make it look good... now I see no story behind this... it’s just random movements no story... do your homework people a learn from the BEST first and foremost.. and I know it’s “Pop-Locking” I’m not that far gone👀🤔
Brother OG'S will always be remembered because of them we are able to see such variety in today's era ! But you also need to accept that with time everything changes and so does our dance culture , we still stick to roots and always look for foundation bt today's people will add there own flavour to popping , locking & breaking ! Yes and no: Popping is the mixture of locking and the robot. Every locking or popping (or any dancing, for that matter) is interpreting the music with miming.

Visually I think the person that glides around on the floor looks more stunning, say doing a forward moon walk.. or just moving around the dance floor in robotic motion visually looks more stunning. Staying in one spot popping loses the magic... gotta glide around dance floor. But first dude looks slick.

Is dancing the only sport where you have to do different moves to get cheers? Basketball has threes and dunks, football big hits and jukes. Everytime you dance it has to be different or a different crowd to get the same reactions.
Dancing for me is expressing your feelings towards music and dancing gives you so much freedom to be anything ! Dancing and expressing your feelings and emotions has no boundaries you can surpass you own thoughts while dancing thats makes u feel alive and make the crowd alive 💓

Back then it wasn't a niche.. it was everywhere in every day life. Random battles popped up ... randomly. Today's B boys are better technicians no doubt about it. But it was knee deep in culture way back then. Drive in a strange neighborhood (or walk or ride bike) and you might get in a battle. Facts. A great time.

So this is what poplockin has evolved into huh? Id like to know who the judges are? And what gives them the right to judge this art?? Im curious bcos i grew up in the 70s and 80s and started hittin im the summer of 77 i was schooled in the basics by a good friend Lyndrick Walker. I noticed that ive yet to see any original moves. Moves that came from different dancers. See back then everyone who hit had to make up your own moves using the basics thats where amimation movies cartoons came into play you had to do your hmework back then if you wanted to be good and recognized. But my thing is alot of reg dancing is mixed in i have no problem with the idea but i want to know where timing and precision balance were no longer a rule to poppin.? Which is a foundation to real hiittin. I also notice the the audience get excited when one of these cats do a wild move or spin and is actually off balance but they recover well lol. The moves are all the same the routins are different but repeated and i notice todays poppers start off with their best move their hittin today is not diciplined and when todays crowd likes when the cats are off balance in my day you just lost and sent back to practice more. This was important in my day. You wanted to be thebest you practiced alot. Now days using the certain moves that were brought from my era its good toknow not all the moves were not passed down moves were sacred you didnt steal moves back then. Or it was war. But we made those moves ive seen a couple i invented people do. I think there are few who can really pop lock and the rest just going through the moves. Im 62 from Sacramento Caifornia right down the street from poppins origin Oakland California. My boy Dereck from Dereck and company outta Oakland used to come to sac and were next in line hell i could beat alot of these so called best today its funny at 62 i can still move as one of the best from Sacramento California

What you have to remember is that without the likes of the old skoolers ie Mr Wiggles, poppin Tacos, Flat top etc there would be no Hoans, Salahs Greentecks etc. Some of these new kids are pretty amazing but a lot of them ARE very generic.

This brings back memories when i pop-locked in the early 80's at 15 years old.. Watching these types of videos again has re-inspired my love to poplock and dance again. Back then it wasn't a niche.. it was everywhere in every day life. Random battles popped up ... randomly. Today's B boys are better technicians no doubt about it. But it was knee deep in culture way back then. Drive in a strange neighborhood (or walk or ride bike) and you might get in a battle. Facts. A great time.

So this is what poplockin has evolved into huh? Id like to know who the judges are? And what gives them the right to judge this art?? Im curious bcos i grew up in the 70s and 80s and started hittin im the summer of 77 i was schooled in the basics by a good friend Lyndrick Walker. I noticed that ive yet to see any original moves. Moves that came from different dancers. See back then everyone who hit had to make up your own moves using the basics thats where amimation movies cartoons came into play you had to do your hmework back then if you wanted to be good and recognized. But my thing is alot of reg dancing is mixed in i have no problem with the idea but i want to know where timing and precision balance were no longer a rule to poppin.? Which is a foundation to real hiittin. I also notice the the audience get excited when one of these cats do a wild move or spin and is actually off balance but they recover well lol. The moves are all the same the routins are different but repeated and i notice todays poppers start off with their best move their hittin today is not diciplined and when todays crowd likes when the cats are off balance in my day you just lost and sent back to practice more. This was important in my day. You wanted to be thebest you practiced alot. Now days using the certain moves that were brought from my era its good toknow not all the moves were not passed down moves were sacred you didnt steal moves back then. Or it was war. But we made those moves ive seen a couple i invented people do. I think there are few who can really pop lock and the rest just going through the moves. Im 62 from Sacramento Caifornia right down the street from poppins origin Oakland California. My boy Dereck from Dereck and company outta Oakland used to come to sac and were next in line hell i could beat alot of these so called best today its funny at 62 i can still move as one of the best from Sacramento California
