On a serious note, I feel like a "NOT BAD" review should be for those albums that Melon seems to like more than what the actual score says (e.g praising an album and then giving it 5/10). It's like an album that is really ambitious and has potential to grow and inspire more. A kick-starter of some sort, but very unfair to "rate". Hence it's just "NOT BAD".

I haven’t been as big on her new singles as I was for the singles on the debut. Think it might be a disappointment both cause of that and it might not be as good with her being in a healthier headspace. Still pretty hyped bout it

Hey Anthony, just wanted to chime in on that Kendrick bit. I’ve been listening to this lecture on the Great Courses Plus, about writing analysis and critiques. The lecturer introduced me to the concept of Kairos. It’s basically a concept that translates to your ability to take advantage of timely events in order to enhance your argument. Certain arguments about terrorism, were a lot more potent immediately after 9/11, than they were before it, for example. I think to just expand on your point, with some terminology, Kairos is a concept that really translates to any statements, whether they’re an essay or an album. The pandemic and Biden’s presidency are going to be the forefront of the conversation for 2021, and Kendrick may not feel he can establish a big enough impact of what he wants to say in today’s sociopolitical climate. I think he’ll probably drop something though to be honest.

With regards to DOOM, the label that released Madvillainy have been given permission by his estate to release Madvillainy 2, which he and Madlib have frequently talked about being “practically done” for the past 8 years. There are other projects that may have enough excess material for other posthumous release (allegedly there’s some unreleased DOOMSTARKS tracks among other things), and given the amount of features he’s done in the past year or so (Rejjie Snow, BADBADNOTGOOD, Bishop Nehru etc.), there could be a few he worked on last year that haven’t come out yet

i really didnt vibe with "therefore I am" at all, and it made me worried about her having a slump, but then a lot of people seem to like it so im probably in the minority with that. i think the other factor is so far shes very creatively locked in with only her brother so its also dependent on him and how he deals with evolving their sound

Hey Anthony, just wanted to chime in on that Kendrick bit. I’ve been listening to this lecture on the Great Courses Plus, about writing analysis and critiques. The lecturer introduced me to the concept of Kairos. It’s basically a concept that translates to your ability to take advantage of timely events in order to enhance your argument.
Certain arguments about terrorism, were a lot more potent immediately after 9/11, than they were before it, for example. I think to just expand on your point, with some terminology, Kairos is a concept that really translates to any statements, whether they’re an essay or an album. The pandemic and Biden’s presidency are going to be the forefront of the conversation for 2021, and Kendrick may not feel he can establish a big enough impact of what he wants to say in today’s sociopolitical climate.
I think he’ll probably drop something though to be honest.
And if this has “why did you write this?” vibes, that’s because I don’t really have any friends, but still wanted to share what I learned today. 🥳🥳

With regards to DOOM, the label that released Madvillainy have been given permission by his estate to release Madvillainy 2, which he and Madlib have frequently talked about being “practically done” for the past 8 years. There are other projects that may have enough excess material for other posthumous release (allegedly there’s some unreleased DOOMSTARKS tracks among other things), and given the amount of features he’s done in the past year or so (Rejjie Snow, BADBADNOTGOOD, Bishop Nehru etc.), there could be a few he worked on last year that haven’t come out yet

Here's my prediction. Radiohead will miss their album every 5 years release schedule and people will freak out thinking there will never be any new Radiohead. Meanwhile U2 will manage to drop a new album that sounds nearly identical to their last two and for the first time since the 80s it won't even break the top 10.
