Kahuna, I am sitting here in the San Fernando Valley, car packed, ready to evacuate. I can’t even tell you how good this post is for my morale. Thank you. I hope all your friends here are safe.
Staringly longingly into my cup ramen and wishing I was in Tokyo! Everything looks absolutely GORGEOUS. I love how passionately these guys talk about their food, it was so much fun to listen to.
Gotta love the Italians. "Yeah, the meatballs.. ahm, yeah we have a somebody Japanese doing those for us..." (Meatballs is something the Americans think is typically Italian and the Italians despise it, partly for that reason.)
I love mortadella. My Grandmother used to make me mortadella sandwiches with goat cheese. Made with either pesto or sundried tomato. Tastes like home. My other Grandmother was always about that PB&J which also tastes like home.
I learned something new, Burrata. I've eaten fresh mozzarella before but that looks like an evolution. I'll have to look for Burrata and try at my local fancy Italian restaurants 👊
Had a great Italian meal with my family near our ABNB one metro stop from Shibuyu. Was in Japan for 3 weeks and a bit over Japanese food and it was a great Italian meal!!!!
Clandestino is kinda legendary to locals living in the area. During covid, bars and restaurants were asked by local authorities to completely close or if they opened, not later than 8 p.m. Clandestino was one of the rare spots opened until 1 a.m., sometimes even later. You should have seen the place! It was packed every night, often even down the stairs, in the street. Was crazy! Fun fact: all "pizzas" have names related to covid. Also, the full time chef since the opening of Clandestino is actually a Japanese lady. Maybe she didn't want to appear in the video. Big love to you, Dani & Graziano, and all the team ! 💕 sho-sho-cacao! sho-sho-shoko-chan! 😉
@@JunkFoodJapan Ooooh yeah!...unfortunately! 🤣 Another fun fact: all the staff must speak Italian so in fact even the Japanese staff there is fluent in Italian. Btw, ever tried the Centerba? 😅
Love the videos, they're great quality and always engaging. Honestly I'm kinda sad to see the views dont seem to be as high as when the channel first launched, the videos are all awesome. hope you keep making these awesome videos they're great.
Food looks fantastic, definitely on my to do list next time I'm in Japan. But super curious about that hand drawn image behind the bar. Is that a real signed hand drawn picture by Buronson?
I wanted to give all the lovely people who wished us well an update. The wind is over, and we are safe. We will all have to be very careful until we get some rain, but we are Angelinos, and we’ve done disaster before. Wish us luck, and keep those videos coming Kahuna! They are so good for morale.
Oh my, omfg deffo going there! Also, what would you say, cheese better at this place or Chris's place? Do they also have a Junk Food Japan special (menu)
This was a great video, Nick. I was wondering are there any Greek Restaurants in Tokyo? I'm half Greek and I was wondering how Greek food would do in Tokyo as well.
I didn't know the resason, why they put their glass on the table before they drink. Very interesting. As you know chin-chin means that in Japanese, what a coincidence.😂
i suck at making bread that looks soft inside and crisp outside just like you want. The walnuts would throw me on the ravioli. Pairing is important what wines go with that foods, some ppl like the dark meat red wine, white meat white wine but the blush throws em. whets the wine to pair with this food? Sake maybe?
ugh... i was totally on board until they suggested shaving some truffle on top. how about some beluga caviar, as well? maybe some gold leaf for visual appeal? yikes.
Yeah why not ? Having real Italian food in Japan is like having real Japanese food in Italy. Why do not just stick to local food and traditions ? We couldn't have it all

This is truly a great restaurant. I do recommend reservations. The staff are all friendly and the food is outstanding.
The food looks amazing!
Edit and the place looks even better! If I ever travel to Japan this is a must visit place.
The quality of these videos is getting better and better. Very professional and enjoyable.

Have been there and greatly enjoyed the Italian cuisine! Bello il CLANDESTINO per mangiare fuori di casa!!

Well, now I have a place to book when I go to Tokyo in a first month! Looks like a brilliant place!

I was born in Greece so I will have to find some good Greek food in Tokyo soon
9 out of 10 just because you didn't bring me😂
Brilliant ep, great hosts, great food love to get pissed in the place.😋
I hope you find your way there one day. It’s worth it!

I think heavy red wine pairs with anything. But tha is because I don’t like white wine
Per Seneca ad astra!
Titanic? You gotta watch Goodfellas with this food.
Yeah I hear you
I saw you in the RIZIN event!
Yeah I was there with Sina
Is that... a signed illustration board of Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star in the background?
Great question? It most likely is
"Hole in the ground...." I was about to flip a virtual table.
LOL
Yeah but do they serve pineapple on pizza?
LOL 😜
hole in the wall!

LOL 🤣 not everyone likes it but freshly shaved was quite good actually. Even I was surprised, as I normally not a big fan
How does it compare to ikeas meatballs?
I have made a video about that once… not on this channel though
All this Italian food and no Negroni to drink?!?! WTF
They came after TOMODACHI
I can't get over you using chin chin in Japan. Salute is safer or stick with kampai
I asked what they do in Italy and wanted the authentic experience
@JunkFoodJapan well done but maybe the Italians didn't get the pen1$ reference
Yeah why not ? Having real Italian food in Japan is like having real Japanese food in Italy. Why do not just stick to local food and traditions ? We couldn't have it all
It’s about the people who make it. My channel is all about food stories and people.
