Ghost-Machine had a really good week. Redcoat kept a high bar throughout all issues but #7 was the best one in the series so far. Very character focused and it showed the plight of being an immortal man very convincingly. Devour was a solid debut. It had a creepy vibe going on, a closed story and despite being double-sized it read very quickly, I was surprised when I got to the end. I thought that Pengiun special was something from that Tom King series, so I didn't even think about reading it. Since it's Jeremy Adams I'll check it out.
Despite some strong competition (especially Transformers), I think Night Club 2 might be my favourite comic right now. Mark Millar has just raised the stakes so high and I genuinely cannot wait to see how it all pans out. I enjoyed the first series, but he's really made me care about these characters. Every single writer at Marvel should pay attention - THIS is how you write a good, action packed comic with character development and high stakes. I also have to give praise to Magic Order V. I've only read the first volume, so the fact I'm still able to follow the story without the missing volumes (which I will go back and read at some point) is testament to his writing skills. Not had a chance to read Redcoat yet, but all the Ghost Machine books are terrific. At one point Redcoat was my favourite, but Geiger has gone up a gear and Rook: Exodus continues to provide strong competition. They are all superb.
You gave up American comics years ago. Are you going on your opinion of his past work, or are you reading his current work, which would make you a straight up liar, Liam? I hope it’s the latter!
@ Of course I’m not reading his current stuff, but every single thing I read from him for 10 years was excellent, and all his stuff now is still getting good reviews so that’s why I said this. But wow, even when I praise current comics you still come in with your usual drek, funny as usual. And you’re hoping it’s the latter? So you want me to be a liar? And what does “Liam” mean?
@@InfamyOrDeath-__- clearly this is your Twitter feed, and the L stands for Liam. Fun fact kids: there is NO discussion of comics or manga on this feed until he started shitting up Perch’s comments sections. For most of its run it’s just flopping on his belly and banging his fists on the ground about COVID lockdowns. Which is totally fine; the lockdowns were a disaster, especially because they created embittered children like you. But did you got to a protest? Have you involved yourself in local politics to make sure things like that never happen again? Naaaaaaah, you’re just mean online.
Modern writers turned the Penguin into a irremediable monster. I cheer for Ghost Machine success, Geoff Johns deserves. Marvel had another awful week again. Not surprised because Marvel don't put any effort to improve the quality of your main titles for years at this point. This company become trash in these days.
For Action Comics, I like that Clark and Mon-El worked together to find and defeat Xa-Du before Aeyther send Clark back in time to before Kryton’s destruction. Aside from the Conner and Kenan part (which is just them noticing that they’re on an intergalactic tour or something). This comic is great! For the Supergirl backup, at least we get to see who the prisoner is (but know what they look like underneath that mask) before Kara encountered them without any explanation to why Kara was sent here. Overall, this backup is okay. For ASM, here is what I have to say. The first part shows Tombstone being not guilty (and thus freed from prison) and Peter (as Spider-Man) fighting Sandman and telling Aunt May why her nephew called Spider-Man for help. That’s it. The second part shows Rek-Rap being here to stay, which might result in Joe Kelly barely using him in his run of ASM. Although, I do find it hilarious that Peter has to pay three thousand dollars after helping Rek-Rap at the hospital. For the third part, I like that Peter and MJ worked together to defeat criminals; however, their going out on a double date with Paul and Shay (in which Peter is going out with Shay and MJ going out with Paul) is a “screw you” to us because we want to see Peter and MJ together. Overall, this is an okay (but weak) backup. For the fourth part, I like that Peter and Logan celebrated Logan’s birthday in a bar to talk and spend time with each other, without Logan getting hunted or attacked by Sabertooth (since Logan killed him in the Sabertooth War in his solo series). Overall, this is a nice backup. For the fifth part, I like that Peter and Ben have a chat, where Ben tells Peter that he’s not obsessed with him anymore (which is good); however, it shows him attempting to steal Peter’s life again at the end of this part, which shows that Ben is still not over it. Overall, this backup is weak. For the sixth and final part, it’s interesting that Peter was told by Doom the Sorcerer Supreme that he’s going to die eight times. Let’s hope that Joe Kelly knows what he’s doing in his ASM run. Overall, this backup is interesting. Something that I can say for this comic is that we’re finally free of the Zeb Wells run. That’s it. For Chasm: Curse of Kaine, It’s just Druig controlling Ben into fighting Janine before he was saved by Kane and Janine, resulting in them working together to defeat an upcoming threat and find Druig. That’s it. Overall, this comic is weak.
Thanks again for the recommendations. Do you only read new books or do you read older comics too? I realize that you read a lot of new issues to review, but how often do you read older books that you may have missed? Just curious.

Hi Wes. Listen are you planning on doing some retrospective videos? Because if you want I can give some ideas. you could do a video on: -DC meets (crossover series of one/shots that saw DC heroes cross over with classic cartoon franchises like Hanna- Barbera and Looney Tunes) -Hanna Barbera Beyond (DC's attempt at reintroducing classic Hanna - Barbera characters and giving them a darker makeover ranging from horrors of Scooby Apocalypse to darkly comedic satire of the Flintstones and everything inbetween) -Comics that feature cartoon visuals and I'm not talking just Skottie Young (although he's an absolute pro and a national treasure) , i'm talking about comics made by cartoonists like Bob Camp , Bill Wray , Stephen Destefano , Kyle Baker , Mike Ploog etc. I'll give you an example : Genndy Tartakovsky (a veteran of the animation industry) made a comic about Luke Cage called CAGE! and it's very much a Genndy made title. Believe me Wes you won't be disappointed. And finally Wes because Christmas is only a month away , you should do a Christmas themed video(somewhere around the first week of December) about comics and comic book recommendations to get readers into the holiday spirit. And one more thing: since The Penguin is a huge hit for HBO and you just reviewed a Penguin comic by Jeremy Adams , what are you on The Penguin comic by Tom King. Is it any good?

Thanks for the effort fellas. I’ll have to consider picking up Devour and Penguin.

I read it and it’s an ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE imo. Worth getting
