There is just something special about this song. It calms a troubled heart. It reminds us that even though things seem so chaotic, we can still find so many reasons to proclaim, “Hallelujah”. So pass it on, and share some peace in a very troubled world.
10 years ago we met Stephen Nelson at one of Savanna’s voice recitals. He sang Hallelujah that night while accompanying himself on the piano. It was mesmerizing and absolutely unforgettable. That was one of the last times he sang publicly for almost 10 years. It has been a long road back, and we are so proud of his courage. We sincerely hope that this is not the last time you will get to hear his incredible voice. This song is the culmination of a journey that brought out all three of our voices. God bless that broken road that brought us together. And to that we say, “Hallelujah!”

@Mat - Can you explain why this song is special to you, please? 0:16 "You don't care for lyrics, do ya?" - It always surprises me that no one seems to listen to the lyrics. The original lyrics make it clear this is no christian song. You can sing Hallelujah all day long and don't mean it! ;-)

Sitting with my 87 year old mom right now. She has severe Alzheimer’s. Most of the time she can’t put together a sentence. I rarely know what she’s trying to talk about. She often gets very sad and cries, like today. Often, when I can’t cheer her up, I play one of your duets. She calms down. Sometimes she even gets happy, like today. She’s always loved to sing. She doesn’t sing anymore. She’s always loved good harmony. She still does. She doesn’t remember you from one visit to the next, but each day I visit, she hears you. You’re music is one of her few pleasures. She remembers her love for Jesus and I feel like you help her get through her hard times as she waits for Him to bring her home. This is one of her favorites. Thank you Mat and Savanna!

One thing I love about the two of you is how crystal clear your diction is, without losing any of the musicality in it. Too many performers have a hard time balancing expressing the emotion of the song and making sure the words are understood. I never feel that with you. All of the emotion comes through along with the beautiful text. Just a great blending of heart and technique.
Absolutely agree with these sentiments. First noticed how clear the diction was when I listened to Bridge over Troubled waters and realised that although I had heard the song so many times I had never really heard all the words until I listened to you. Absolutely beautiful.

How anyone could give a “thumbs down”, baffles me. This rendition of Hallelujah is beautifully composed and performed.

This has always been one of my favorite songs and this has become my new favorite version. In a year where my family suffered the loss of three members, Mat and Savanna have been the only shining moment for me. Thank you for lifting all of our spirits and for showing us that there is still so much to be thankful for in this world. GOD bless the two of you and your amazing family.

At one point I noticed you were both using your hands in graceful expression, and you each had your hands in almost identical positions. I thought, "Like Daddy, like daughter." I take walks in the sun with my puppy , and I listened to your songs, talk to God and I feel hope and joy. My wife and I are in the Pfizer Covid vaccine trial. Thursday we had the final dose. The only way you know if you got the real deal is if you get a little sick. Friday I felt warm and took my temperature to find I had a fever, meaning the pandemic is over for me. My wife reacted later ALSO. I like to listen to Holy Art Thou when extremely blessed. Instead I hit your Hallelujah first. Cried like a baby then I hope you dance followed. My wife and I are two septigenarians, who had the choice to sit it out or dance. We danced. Thank you.

randi5465 you would think saline would be required, but just a saline solution wouldn’t elicit any kind of response upon injection.....think about it-you’d instantly know if you were in the real test vaccine group or the saline control. A real vaccine has a response because it’s supposed to. The control group usually gets either a previous vaccine (for the same “disease”), a different vaccine, or an injection that contains the vaccine ingredients minus the antigen.

I will assume you are not a statistician which I am. To involve a secondary chemical requires a complex Taguchi analysis which throws a big variable into the probabilities. No one in their right mind would do that in life and death study.

He rebuked the self-righteous religious traditionalists of His day. He could have entered Jerusalem in a gold clad chariot with a host of trumpets blazing, but He entered on a young donkey. He could have taken the Kings crown away and jumped upon the thrown, but He willingly carried His cross, was crucified and shed His blood. He arose on the third day; all so believers could receive the gift of God, forgiveness of each of our sins. Hallelujah.

Over the years I have heard and watched as Stephen accompanied The Gentri (If you have not heard them, you are missing out) and he has ALWAYS amazed me with his raw emotional playing....but it absolutely knocked me off my seat when I heard him sing ~ who knew? He has always graciously and humbly given the stage to the Gentri. Stephen you are amazing! Not only is your piano playing a true gift from God but it’s obvious he didn’t stop there when he was blessing you with gifts. It was also a pleasure to hear Mat and Savanna sing ~ the three of you harmonizing was beautiful.
I think you guys have outdone yourselves on this one. The music was PERFECT, the flowers on the grand piano, the formal wear, the song choice, all 3 of your voices......THIS WAS PERFECT in every way.
