ive learned that the wishlist is mostly people who will buy it when it is on sale. A small percentage will buy it at full price. This is the reality I believe all indy devs should face. Depending on the game and the price will dictate what percentage of purchases from those who wishlist will be. It has very little to do with the quality of the game itself.
Very true. Even when I think about myself as a consumer on Steam, most of my purchases are games on sale. I didn't mention this in the video but I was part of an indie dev Discord where the general belief was that 10% of your wishlists will convert to sales. In the case of my two games it was more like 1-2%, which left me feeling really discouraged based on what other indie devs had stated.
@@ElusivePandaGames I think the fact that 2 percent of those people were moved enough by your game that it made them purchase it within launch date speaks very positively about you as a dev. All of your points in this video are very good and don’t sugar coat anything. This is what’s needed more.
@@arechikitsune I've never looked at it that way but you're so right. It makes a big difference when you take a moment to recognize the successes you've had. Thank you for the kind comments! 😊
Hello, your work looks awesome, looking forward to try The Virus on Steam! I wanted to ask you what tools or what website did you used to make your personal web page, becausei want to make one as simple as yours. And how much did it cost?
I built the site using Wordpress and used the Salient Theme, but I'm also a web developer. If you don't have experience building websites I would try a platform like Squarespace or Wix. I'm not sure how much they cost but their site building tools are really easy to use and they provide hosting.
Thanks for the kind words! I won't be doing a public demo for Spire since it will be releasing in Early Access. I will eventually need people to test prior to launch and still trying to decide how I want to go about that. If you're interested feel free to join my Discord as that's where I will be reaching out for testers.
Really cool video. Spire is looking good!
