Sue is definately right that she should never have open her father's letter in the first place because she's always worried about everything while her brothers don't care about the family's problems.
This show was exactly my family growing up we couldn't afford nothing except what kept us alive and my sister got a little better treatment. I love you sis only one that made it out

I want to be that kind of parents. I remeber when i was in middle school and there's a trip that my parents can't afford. The way my dad handle it was through threat. He said "the trip is not important, you're going to just play and tired all day, I'll talk to your school about it, and if you still insist go find the money yourself", instead of telling the truth that he doesn't have the money. I didn't go and hold the tears when I see my classmates excitedly talk about the trip. Growing up I always wish what if my parents done it differently back then, that they show their efforts just like the one in the video. If they say it honestly, i would try my best to understand, even willingly give up the trip with an ease in heart. Now I know what kind of parents I want to become. I would take the full responsibility for having children of my own.
Same found out my dad scrimped and saved till hes a “millionaire” like when we were little we never ate fast food, didnt go out shopping, couldnt buy toys, every grain of rice was precious, my dads shoes are currently falling apart (the sole legit fell off in one section, he wears clothes passrd down from my grandpa so i figured we were like poor to middle of the road. Actually we still live like we are poor. Its just the way my parents were raised bc they came from dirt poor famililes and i personally dont feel like im missing anythibg
I think she was worried about a school trip in this show’s scene though, and since there’s virtually no ceiling on the amount of optional expenses a child or teen could want/ask for, it isn’t necessarily illogical for them to consider the realism of their parents’ finances in asking for money for optional things (especially as a teen). Both her and Axl are right in some way, though, because her specific reaction of guilt-especially over something that she wasn’t aware of-is a bit intense/high; having consideration doesn’t mean she needs to beat herself up over it from one scene to the next.

Axl's right though, it's the parents job to earn money and only have as many children as they can afford

Perhaps but if you were to itemize the expenses based on the children, I think Axl is the most expensive.

Honestly how didn’t she know that they were poor? Has she seen their house?
Their parents did a good job of making them feel like they're not less than. It's good parenting.
