I'm sad that ocean grunge is dead, this and other works in the genre are soooooooooo good, like, it's a very sofisticated and different way to promote ambient music, and it's even cooler when you think about the filosofy that inspired it all. I hope that ocean grunge get a revival some day.
Its still sort of around, but its a bit slow (posts on the subreddit are a bit spaced out). Its less ocean grunge and more like grungey vaporwave/trap, and honestly I think its better for it, it is actually listenable more often now
Too dreamy for black metal, too aggressive for dream pop, not electronic enough for vaporwave/ocean grunge, and too bright for goth. I think the word everyone is looking for here is 'shoegaze'.
