Yea, dude like I was in high school when this debuted and it was one I listened to till I graduated. I even burnt a CD so I could listen to it in my car.
I’m glad this album is starting to receive more appreciation. In the early 2010s, Vaporwave as a whole become an ironic meme-infested wasteland. A lot of great projects, such as this, were dismissed as tryhard sub-genres with no substance. I hope that people who snubbed it in the past will come around and give it another chance.
I didn't even know of the existence of vapourwave until I think 2015, so it's funny to think that it was already a dismissive meme-infested wasteland years before then.
Okay so tripping to this was a fucking amazing idea. Sat in my bathtub in total darkness playing this with my eyes closed and I was convinced for the entire duration of the album that I was floating through space in a cramped spaceship awaiting rescue by another ship (which turned out to be the lamp-post outside my bathroom window turning on. I thought it was getting closer). I was getting these mad fucking tingles all over my body and the visuals were like these weird tessellating fractals made out of 3 lines sandwiched together, so I thought that I'd been injected with painkilling drugs because of some injury I'd sustained in space and that the space disease or whatever it was was causing me to become delirious and insane. After the album ended and I felt myself return to Earth (though still peaking of course) I went outside and looked at the sky, and the stars were just so fucking bright and intense. I swear to god I could see so many stars, so many more than usual. Along with this I saw this bright orange shooting star, and I just said "See you space cowboy" and broke down into tears. Fucking intense trip, 10/10 would do again. This album is fucking great for tripping to. I'd wholly recommend it.
No way. I've loved Seapunk, Vaporwave, and Chillwave for a while now but this is the first time I thought to trip to it, and it was amazing! Anyway, what does it matter if there are people out there who trip to it? Good for them for having good taste.
Joel Cernas What is reading comprehension I already said I like the music sober, all my post was doing was highlighting that it was also very amazing to trip to.
The reason the internet went on a synthpunk/vaporwave crusade. It would be ridiculous to not see the influence that this and a certain other album had on today's life havers.
everyone has their theories, but this album was perfect for the melancholy of 2005-2016. if you were working at those times it really was a minimum wage droning, with a spice of, "i genuinely don't care about anything", attitude. Alot of our parents lost homes in the housing crash and work was scarce. Alot of us just checked out with drugs and working minimum wage in dying box stores nobody could afford. This kind of music really brings home the crushing realities of being a cog in the machine. You can listen to this and get a genuine vibe on culture at the time, just kind of surviving on our parents nostalgia and distorting it to make life bearable. While sitting in your 1987 volvo crying into a taco bell burrito
This comment is probably gonna get lost in the sea of comments but I think its really interesting how the vaporwave movement was in a way like the counterculturist movement of the 60's, the 60's liked to use repurposed art for posters. Kinda the same thing with vaporwave but with 80's culture.

I bumped this album for a whole summer while working road construction. The late night drives home from a far away jobsite with photosynthesis blasting while i smoked a thick blunt. Good times.
Similar vibe for me. I'd listen to it on my 40 minute walk both to work and home. Despite a break up, it was a highly sociable and care free time. I fit in at work, and despite it having difficult days, I felt in control and in tune with the life I had wound up in. This album encapsulates that time for me.
This has aged beautifully, I remember only vibing a few tracks when it first came out - just played the whole thing and no idea wtf I was thinking back then. The whole thing slaps
A guy who ghosted me for a year sent this album to me out of the blue because he thought I'd like it. I'm glad he did. We never spoke again. Hope you're well wherever you are.

I rarely ever felt like a piece of art was just meant for me like this. Thanks @BLANKBANSHEE

I remember listening to this album almost everyday during one of the darkest periods of my life. This music calmed and soothed my depression and anxiety unlike anything else. It might have to do with the how the album is equal parts unsettling and lucid, much how depression tends to be. Thank you, Blank Banshee.
I put this album on my headphones and fell asleep. I started having crazy dreams while hearing the music. When Photosynthesis came on, I was back in 1970 on a date with a girl in a coffee shop or something. We ordered apple pie and didnt really talk we just ate it and stared into each other while this thing played and now I've attached this song to this dream and it feels extremely nostalgic...
We're in the Golden age right now. Theres Hundreds of Artists who still make vaporwave and have had years to master their craft, you should get back into it, you're missing out.
@@elitezararus286 i agree, the golden is age is sort of now, it's the nostalgia that makes it look like it was a golden age in the past, although tbh, Vaporwave isn't the music style to have an "age" or period, it's not supposed to be that popular in the first place.
I personally have never been on bath salts, but I have ready plenty of stories of what people are capable of when under their influence, so my guess is that the track may be an auditory representation of what it could be like to be in such a state of mind(?). Either way, the transition from "BATHSALTS" to "AMMONIA CLOUDS" is slick AF (I wonder if the title is a reference to smelling salts?).
I'm only 5 years old!! And I listen to vaporwave!!! kids from my generation listen to frozen music and nicki minaj I'm so special cuz my teachers call me autistic!!!!
im glad i came back to this album after not listening to it for years. lately ive been getting deeper into jazz and pretty recently i found hard bop and post bop to be my favorite kinds of music. ive been longing to compose a post bop suite, and listening to the polytonality (or atonality in my opinion but thats its own debate) that occurs on this album with the use of chords that have no diatonic functional relationships with one another in songs like Ammonia Clouds, where various major7 chords with no relationships with one another are used, is really inspiring because it embodies the "controlled freedom" that's seen in post bop. i feel like this album is a good example of where im at with my ideas and can get deeper melodically. aside from the compositional techniques, the sound effects and general aesthetic that comes with the album are still relevant today in my opinion, almost 6 years later.
Feel like I'm becoming the old guy who says this album was what we listened to when I was young, but also fell like this is the future.

Back to the hight of Vaporwave... Getting nostalgic about being nostalgic about the 80s/90s
I remember listening to this album almost everyday during one of the darkest periods of my life. This music calmed and soothed my depression and anxiety unlike anything else. It might have to do with the how the album is equal parts unsettling and lucid, much how depression tends to be. Thank you, Blank Banshee.
10 years old already . . . . . . . . . g o d d a m n
classic
Nostalgic. I heard this all night working on photoshop five years ago. It was beautiful and I can't stop listening to BB since then
i find it very interesting how this was posted in 2013 but all the comments on the top are from a matter of days ago
It's because the vinyl editions were just announced days ago.
resurgence
This is literally one of the best electronic albums ever made, and a cultural monument for the 2010s (MY generation).
damn this is 10 years old now

I put this album on my headphones and fell asleep. I started having crazy dreams while hearing the music. When Photosynthesis came on, I was back in 1970 on a date with a girl in a coffee shop or something. We ordered apple pie and didnt really talk we just ate it and stared into each other while this thing played and now I've attached this song to this dream and it feels extremely nostalgic...
*teen pregnancy is so fucking elite*
*please do not take this out of context*
The best part was reading this comment before looking at the tracklist.
naw man its core
Has it been 8 years already... holy shit
This is the only music I can listen to when I've a depression attack
I feel that.
That doesn't exist.

Im surprised to see so many recent comments on this. Must be making its rounds via the algorithm
I don’t understand how they turned heaven into a 30 minute long album?
It’s crazy how i just revisited this album after 3 years of not thinking about it. I love that people are still actively finding it lmao
It's been at least the same time for me, and I just thought about it lol.
Mr Spectacals i don’t know it just came back to my mind, i’m glad it did tho, one of my favourite albums
same here ! I used to listen to this a lot back in 2016.
6:30-7:10 sounds like an acid trip
Logan thats why i love this album

imagine being this talented. blank banshee is a genius.
I miss the golden age of Vaporwave.
We're in the Golden age right now. Theres Hundreds of Artists who still make vaporwave and have had years to master their craft, you should get back into it, you're missing out.
@@elitezararus286 Will do. Doubt we're in a golden age again, though.
@@elitezararus286 i agree, the golden is age is sort of now, it's the nostalgia that makes it look like it was a golden age in the past, although tbh, Vaporwave isn't the music style to have an "age" or period, it's not supposed to be that popular in the first place.
My man, Vaporwave doesn't age.
@@oceanboilmao It's not the nostalgia. Vaporwave isn't popular anymore, and artists aren't as prolific/prevalent as before. The scene shrunk.
This sounds just as fresh today as it did back then. The sign of a timeless classic!
u said it bud!

Sure, it's good...

Same. Was my "sleep to" album
I have seen a lot of "why does everyone hate bathsalts"
But no "I hate bathsalts"
After a few listens I liked it a lot, but it has different atmosphere that the song before and after it so it felt really out of place.
I hate bath salts
Space Pineapples ok
See mcboberson bob's comment (with 422 likes).
I personally really like it, especially 5:31 onward.
I know how you feel. I listen to post-grunge music. Seether, staind, 3 days grace, 30 seconds to mars, all that.
ROBOTIC CHILD lMAO frozen music
ROBOTIC CHILD Whoa, that's just like me... even the special thing... but i'm older...
ROBOTIC CHILD I understand. I used to listen to stuff like Weird al, and everybody thought I was crazy.
ROBOTIC CHILD Do it for coach.
I didn't experience Teen Pregnancy cause I'm a PURITY BOY.

I couldn't even begin to imagine what a Venus Death Trap would be like! It sounds like a terrific Visualization.

*Nothing like getting mugged, jumped and stabbed in Central Park at 12:33 P.M.while listening to Vaporwave*
oh noooo sorry :(
lmao F good song to get stabbed to tho

Vaportrap my friend, Vaportrap.
im glad i came back to this album after not listening to it for years. lately ive been getting deeper into jazz and pretty recently i found hard bop and post bop to be my favorite kinds of music. ive been longing to compose a post bop suite, and listening to the polytonality (or atonality in my opinion but thats its own debate) that occurs on this album with the use of chords that have no diatonic functional relationships with one another in songs like Ammonia Clouds, where various major7 chords with no relationships with one another are used, is really inspiring because it embodies the "controlled freedom" that's seen in post bop. i feel like this album is a good example of where im at with my ideas and can get deeper melodically. aside from the compositional techniques, the sound effects and general aesthetic that comes with the album are still relevant today in my opinion, almost 6 years later.
The Chunky Trucker I am happy for you
