What do you think, did I miss any towns that should be on the top 10 most affordable towns' list? Correction - North Adams is on the border of Vermont and not New Hampshire.
Not to be disrespectful but anyone viewing this I would highly encourage to research the crime statistics in these towns. As a former Trooper previously assigned in central mass, MANY of not all of these towns have high and diverse crime.
I'm not only Massachusetts born but grew up and currently live in Western Mass, and I can tell you there is a reason these places are affordable. Because, a lot on these are crappy or have very crappy areas. I'd avoid Holyoke, Chicopee, and Athol altogether.
Totally agree. Someone who has been born and brought up in Holyoke. Holyoke in the 60s/70s was a nice place to live, not anymore. I’ve lived in Massachusetts for 55 years, and A LOT has changed. I still live in Massachusetts, but now I live in what we call the “Hill towns”. Most of the places she mentions are shit holes, and still are expensive.
I attended Springfield College back in the late '90s through the early 2000s. I always tell people when it comes to Western Mass, it can be pretty rough. After school, I moved to West Springfield and I can remember flat out there were some places I would not even think of moving in. But for some folks, they don't mind the crime and the grime.
Chicopee actually has some very nice areas. Not all of Chicopee is bad. You're right about Holyoke, though. Stay far away from Holyoke. The places she listed are affordable for a reason. Very few people want to live there.
Great info, especially for young people who are still flexible about changing jobs to move to another part of the state, but would like to continue living in Massachusetts. Thank you!
I didn't read all the comments yet but, Did Holyoke pay you to put their town on your list? Noune K? I thank you for letting the people know about checking with the police first. I lived in Chicopee for 25 years and everything is affordable. Never had to take my gun out in Chicopee but Springfield twice in 1982 and 1987. Chicopee is cheaper on Electric, Car insurance, and more.
Having lived in various W. MA areas there is a reason some of these are cheap. No one wants to live there by choice. North Adams, Athol, and Pittsfield. Old mill towns after the mill industry vanished, think long and hard.
If you have to go to these undesirable areas in a very specific part of the state then just go South I'm done with Massachusetts, it breaks my heart I love it here but EFF these prices... Massachusetts shows ONE home under 200k right now on zillow(sep 25th). Check out how many are in Scranton or Richmond....
Number 1, North Adams, is no where close to NH. It borders VT, Bennington County, VT. North Adams is poverty stricken with a high rate of unemployment and excessive drug use.
I am from the third poorest town in Massachusetts Orange and even there the homes have skyrocketed in value for example my mom's home she bought a 1984 for 64,000 It was worth $65,000 in 2018 now she's selling it and it's appraised for about $275,000! The town is still as poor in crappy as ever if you can get an online job it's a cheap place to live otherwise you go to drive to Worcester to get a good job to talking about an hour drive each way everyday.
True, a very old world European city. When you go to Seaport, it’s a totally new European or US city vibe. I like that we have both old and new, @salumsalum8866
When i lived in Athol, my roomates and i would play guess the drug cause junkies are everywhere and wilding out. Avoid like the plague! Nothing holy about Holyoke either!
It is hard to find credibility with this video as the author is no different than anyone from eastern Massachusetts. The video starts out with an apparent lack of knowledge of geography. North Adams is not near New Hampshire.
What a horribly uninformative video. Who considers an entire state when choosing where to live? Most people need to live near a specific city, for work. Don't bother watching this, she just spews some Wikipedia stats about small towns in western, MA. Save yourself the time and Google search if you are moving to central or western MA!
Thanks for watching my video, David, sorry you hated it, I am an expert in Real Estate and Massachusetts. I do take info from different sources and do the research for my viewers, so they don't have to, it's a free service I provide for the benefit of my community. Many people will find it useful to have the latest median home prices and to know which towns are the most affordable in MA, especially those who are remote workers and are not tied down to specific city for work. Or, those who want to retire in MA.
@@BostonAreaHomes No problem. I wasted several minutes watching so I wanted to warn people not to waste their time and that they could easily find this information instead of watching someone pretend to be an expert. Good luck to you.
@@davidlynch8154 glad you spent your very important time watching this video. Since you conduct your own research and understand the real estate market so well, I’m excited to watch your video on this and your exclusive content that I can’t find anywhere else!
Western Mass is less expensive but you either move there with a stack of cash or plan to drive a LONG way to work. There’s not a lot of high paying jobs there.
What do you think, did I miss any towns that should be on the top 10 most affordable towns' list? Correction - North Adams is on the border of Vermont and not New Hampshire.
@ms.presilsportraits7323 Great idea!
Not to be disrespectful but anyone viewing this I would highly encourage to research the crime statistics in these towns. As a former Trooper previously assigned in central mass, MANY of not all of these towns have high and diverse crime.
Yes! Totally with you, everyone should do their research regarding crime before considering any town.
I'm not only Massachusetts born but grew up and currently live in Western Mass, and I can tell you there is a reason these places are affordable. Because, a lot on these are crappy or have very crappy areas. I'd avoid Holyoke, Chicopee, and Athol altogether.

I agree wholeheartedly. The majority of these locations are dangerous and unacceptable.
I agree on Holyoke and parts of Springfield. I’m from Holyoke and went back for a week and change. It isn’t a place to settle down in at all.
The most affordable place in MA is in a different state
Yea bro. My uncle lives in new hamsphire and work in lexington, boston 😂😂
🤣 exactly
Great info, especially for young people who are still flexible about changing jobs to move to another part of the state, but would like to continue living in Massachusetts. Thank you!
Thank you, @NTilke, glad it was helpful!
I'm leaving quincy for 4 years it's just unaffordable rent prices
Yes, the prices are growing everywhere, including rents
Saw a TH-cam video showing the worst places in Massachusetts to live and 5 of them are on your list 😮
It might be so, but this video is only about living costs, I urge my viewers to do their own research.
Yeaaaaaah... fellow lifelong Mass'er here... most of those aren't places you want to live. Or at least don't go out alone at night...
Thank you your video was very helpful.
Glad you liked it!

I am giving just the cold facts about the housing prices, thanks for watching and for your feedback.
Having lived in various W. MA areas there is a reason some of these are cheap. No one wants to live there by choice. North Adams, Athol, and Pittsfield. Old mill towns after the mill industry vanished, think long and hard.
North Adams is on the Vermont border!
North Adams is lovely.
Exactly! Not New Hampshire!
Thank you for the correction
Thanks for giving us this extremely useful information about the perfect destination for cash strapped individuals.
Thanks for watching

Thinking about making the move from New York to Boston for work? Feeling a bit torn about living cost ?
Boston is less expensive than NYC. Which part of NY do you live in?
North Adams is on the border of Vermont, NOT New Hampshire. Also, Pittsfield, not Pittsburgh.
Aaaah! Thanks for the corrections
Great info to consider where to invest with a limited budget.
I am glad it's helpful!

Ouch. Get a room mate.
This was informative, I am currently looking for investment properties, and it did give me ideas from a buyer's perspective. Thank you!

Very good 👍 ❤❤❤
Thank you!

Best thing about Massachusetts is leaving.
Basically Western Mass… 🥴😂
Where Us Locals Know it Sucks!
🌹
Okay geez. Pittsburgh? Really
Springfield
Holyoke
Most dangerous places to live in Massachusetts.
When i lived in Athol, my roomates and i would play guess the drug cause junkies are everywhere and wilding out. Avoid like the plague! Nothing holy about Holyoke either!
Holyoke has high Assault crime rates
2nd most dangerous city
Ridiculously expensive area. Could never live comfortably there
Thanks for your input
Massachusetts is a beautiful shit hole if you wanna know the truth lived here my whole life

You are absolutely right. My mistake
I don't know who you think your audience is, but I could not afford any of these...
Yes, Massachusetts is one of the most expensive states in U.S.
Nah, who wants to live in those boring places?
Every city she’s named is horrible
