Through a Filipino friend in my country New Zealand he introduced me to a filipina in Dagupan city I started to courting her and very quickly we fell in love we got married in 2005 and are still married today with three children. She is the best thing that is happened in my life

My experience with my Filipina wife is that you shouldn’t even worry about making a move when dating her. Most Filipinas, even conservative ones, will have that sort of thing all figured out before she will even agree to date you. Be polite, be respectful and humble and try to be fun to be with. Show you are interested in her, her life, her culture and family and that your intentions are honest. Don’t try any public displays of affection. A little thing that I did that impressed my Filipina on our first date was to show I liked Filipino food. Odds are that when you’ve observed the proprieties and you get the chance to be together in private she will let you know in uniquely Filipina fashion that’s she’s ready for you to make the first move. Keep in mind that though a Filipina may be shy and conservative they do take pride in being good lovers. Like I said, in general, if a Filipina isn’t interested in you as a suitor and a lover she probably isn’t going to date you in the first place. As long as you impress upon her and her family (particularly her Nanay) that your intentions are honest and sincere and they approve of you she will probably want you to make a move and don’t be surprised if it’s on the first date. I’m not saying you should expect that but it’s certainly not uncommon with Filipinas. Western women will want to date you multiple times before they will even think about getting intimate. Again many Filipinas will have sorted out their feelings for you before they will even go out with you. Essentially that means you will have to put in more ground work to get a Filipina to go out with you. She and her family picked me up at the Manila Airport and we drove straight to her families home where we spent the day with her parents and family. That evening we went on our first date and had a blast. Lots of fun and laughing. After the date she made it unmistakably clear that she wanted me to make the first move. I let her know that I was very concerned that it was too soon and that I didn’t want to do anything to upset her family. She just shrugged her shoulders and said “Nanay said it was ok”. I was still worried so I told her I didn’t travel half way around the world to screw things up on our first date and made her leave the room. She came back a few minutes later with the prettiest smile and said “Nanay said it was ok”. All I can say is God bless Nanay. That was the most memorable night of my life and I fell head over heels in love with my Filipina and proposed to her shortly thereafter. Been happily married to her 17 years now. She has been the best thing that ever happened to me. It all happened so fast that I was surprised but, as I’ve learned over time, my Nanay is a very shrewdest woman and judge of character. She intuitively new I was a good and honest man and would give her daughter a good life. I will always be grateful to my Nanay for her kindness that night and knowing we were in love. She gave me her most precious gift. Her daughter. I am forever indebted to her.

With the typhoon, we are deeply involved with relief efforts on Bohol and Leyte. If you are reading this, please do your best to show compassion and generosity to the poor who have been so devastated by the typhoon! One of our projects this week is food packages (10 kilo rice, fish and noodles ) for 93 families in remote devastated areas in the mountains above Anda, Bohol. If you are in Cebu, you may know this. Some areas will not have electricity till April.
