You didn't show the bag in it's best light.. plus never pull open zips like that, there is a pull tab on them for a reason! you are supposed to turn the base inside on itself before zipping it up! you should have got up and showed how well it moves when you use the strap to pull it along and also how big it is when carrying it on your shoulder..

I'm about to return mine because the fabric won't go over the wheels. Is this uncommon?

I had to really push and pull to get the fabric unfolded from the wheels. Find the side that moves the easiest and work around from there.
I have the backpack and the smaller suitcase.
