Altantic Salmon Spawning - 2016

Sometimes there are special days when its simply a privilege to see nature at its very best. For me this is one of those days. Their parents may have been battered and bruised by the ordeals of their journey, but an irresistible determination to create the next generation drove them on. And so the circle of life begins anew.

I remember fishing Portna as a boy and the fish were banging into the dam in their hundreds, this sight will soon be a thing of the past if we don't do something, great footage, thanks for uploading it

thanks and hard to know what caused the damage, could also have been seals or dolphins. Just shows you what they go through and their will to create the next generation.

It’s in a river in Northern Ireland, we are lucky to have salmon in many of our rivers and it’s great to watch the next generation 😊👍

How did you film these?

using a GoPro for underwater and digital SLR for the other shots. GoPro was positioned and left under water to minimise disturbance.
