I had this little set in my boats emergency dry storage box and come to find out it isn't so dry! So I decided to make a video restoring it. Being I still use this little set I didn't want to re chrome anything or spend extra time fine detailing it because it still gets used instead of being a display item. I think it came out alot better though!

Canadian_Wolf 83 It’s called powder coating. The powder, and whatever you’re painting have opposite charges so the powder is attracted to, and stays on your project. Then you bake it in the oven to melt/dry it. It’s very tough, and the colour availability is endless. You can even get glow in the dark stuff.

I took the time to clean the crud and rust off the tools and found a vintage C clamp form. Cincinnati took co.,a ratchet labeled super ratchet that still works good,a pipe wrench form the 10’s I think it was, a auto adjusting vintage pipe wrench, and some vintage snap on stuff like a 1/2” ratcheting breaker bar adapter made in the 20’s. Along with some vintage 2 piece snap on extensions and a lot of old looking open end wrenches that i haven’t researched yet.

That is the most robust sand blaster that I’ve seen on any restoration channel. Now some guys use paint remover before sand blasting to prevent the paint particles from mixing with the sand and causing a decrease in efficiency. Just a thought, though it certainly didn’t seem to slow you down. I loved the powder coating! I would have liked to see the high relief label painted a different color, but that’s just my preference. Overall, very well done!

I concur! I have NEVER seen a home-use, Harbor Freight cabinet with that much velocity in the sand blaster. I'm beyond the words of EAGER to see this setup?!! Can you please explain/show what kind of compressor and or parts and CFM your pushing out in this? Crazy!

It looks great! Nice job! It was a little painful to see the rusty ratchet and sockets (glad you cleaned them up) but I can't help but love the patina on the box BEFORE the restoration. Just something about it. Just my kooky opinion of course. Again, super nice job on the whole thing. Thanks for the video!

Looks great. Just an idea but would have used some kind of car "back to black" product for the plastic insert. :)

Finally someone who uses a blast cabinet in these resto videos. I’m so sick of these guys wasting so much time with strippers and wire brushes and every other stupid time consuming way to clean and strip parts and they still end up looking like shit. Blast cabinet is the only way to get a good clean for resto.

Watching the media blaster hit the paint, all I could think about was you just wiped the history out of that case. I was initially waiting for the tool to be rebuilt and the case to be clear coated. The result was clean, bit showing some history in that case would have made it beautiful.

If you use paint stripper first then you won't have to get all the old paint mixed in with your sand. Makes the sand last longer
