- The Apple Jacks cereal from Kellogg's features two mascots: Apple and Cinnamon. In Apple Jacks commercials from the 2000s, they appeared in animated form as they raced to a bowl of the cereal. Now, Kellogg's has officially redesigned Apple and Cinnamon in a pretty awful way...
Cereal mascots have always been made to sell cereal, but in the 2000s, they seemed to have more personality in their marketing campaigns. Everyone remembers the Apple Jacks commercials with Apple and Cinnamon because they were fun and surprisingly unique. Why are the characters going through a design change on the box now?

If the guards are still awake, I’ll distract them while you guys are free to bust in.
From what I see, cinnamon and apple are in cells on floor 8.
You need to bust them out along with other beloved and classic mascots while I still got the guard’s attention.
Once all are saved, we blow up the place dynamite. We all head back home after the plan and eat apple jacks to celebrate!

It’s strange to think that cereal mascots had character development and an overarching story. When they started out they were enemies and it was CinnaMon always besting Apple, no matter how hard Apple tried. Then, when one of Apple‘s plans went awry, the two ended up conjoined. During this time, they ended up getting to know each other more working together as a team. Eventually when they were separated they each had a newfound respect for each other and had a friendly rivalry with each other where sometimes Apple would beat CinnaMon to the bowl of Apple Jacks. I recall at one point, Apple went missing in New York and CinnaMon was trying desperately to find him. That is character development, something I highly doubt these new mascots will ever go through.

I think I remember seeing these mascots from those Apple Jack cereal commercials when I was a kid. In the beginning, they were enemies, later on they became friends. R.I.P. Apple Jacks mascots, you both will always be remembered as our childhood.🙏🏻❤️

I'm 13 years old and I wish they never changed the old mascots. I loved the characters and its a shame they changed them they lack so much personality and look kinda creepy to me. Idk why companies keep oversimplifying everything. It's more unappealing than appealing to me

I don't even like Apple Jacks but I will 100% buy a box on my next store trip if it has Apple and CinnaMon on it.
Some of the last cool dudes to be deleted from the 2000s and 90s era, and many before. Feels not so alright... mon.
I literally was at the grocery store last night and when I got to the cereal aisle, I saw an Apple Jacks box with the new designs and for that split second I was just like "wtf are these designs?"
This is exactly why the phrase "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" exist. If you try to fix something that already works anyway, you just end up breaking it anyways!!!! This especially applies to mascots & logos. It's already bad enough that they had to "de-Jamaicanize" CinnaMon, but this is a whole new level that has to stop immediately before it ever happens again!!!

I never understood why many other companies didn't use commercials to tell a complete story. The AppleJacks commercials and the poptarts commercials will always be my favorites, there are no other contenders.

One of my favorite things in the original commercials was how CinnaMon and Apple went from being enemies to friends.

This genuinely makes me sad.. Those guys were legit the reason why I wanted to buy Apple Jacks as a kid.. I would continually ask my mom to buy it for me even when I didn't used to like the taste when I was little.. RIP
It sucks because Apple and CinnaMon actually had character development and went from enemies to friends and rivals. Especially Apple as after the whole fusing together incident he softened up and stopped his villainous ways.

Apple Jacks, Pop Tarts and Goldfish always had an ongoing or continuous story. With every new commercial, it picked up where it left off, kinda like a 'to be continued...' Sucks that almost all mascots or companies have been simplified for easier marketing.
Honestly i’ve never tried Apple Jacks and they sound really good. But it’s always sad to see some cereal mascots go..

They're on the better side of cereal, but in general cereal is an F tier food with the better ones (Apple Jacks, Frosted Flakes, Lucky Charms, etc) in the low D tier (maximum high D tier with milk, and the milk is usually better than the cereal)

I never grew up with Apple Jacks and tbh I haven't seen these characters at all (prob cause I live in the UK) but watching this video I already preferred the old designs and tho I may never see these guys again I'm still annoyed that corporations don't understand that personality-less, "child friendly" designs aren't going to bring the same love as older designs. What may be worse is the fact that they even removed the diversity with these two characters

There is a Flash racing game that I used to play called _Race to the Bowl Rally_ which introduced me to the Apple Jacks mascots, Cinammon and Apple. That game is actually fun though. Hearing about the design change, it seems like Kelloggs never learned their mistakes from Fruit Loops' Toucan.
These 2 were one of the most legendary mascots ever. The marketing campaigns they went through can never be forgotten.

My theory the change in particular for CinnaMon is that overly sensitive PC people decided that Cinnamon was a offensive stereotype of Jamaicans.

What the hell have they done? I could never have the fun cereals everyone else got to as a kid, but I still loved the characters and longed to taste their cereals.. I did eventually get to try them on rare occasions, and it makes me sadder now knowing what they're doing to all of these fellas

This hurts a lot. I kind of grew up with some of those commercials, and I remember about 6-7 months ago I watched a compilation of those old commercials and videos they were pretty nostalgic in a way and it made me really crave Apple Jacks (yes I ended up getting a box lol). Now it’s like I don’t even know them anymore, there is no sense of nostalgia with these new designs at all. The closest possible way these could come off as nostalgic to people is those who grew up with lots coloring books, because that’s where it looks like Kellogg’s ripped them from. R.I.P. Apple and Cinnamon, you will always be my favorite cereal mascots
