Ligali Mukaiba 's music brings memories of my late grandmother Feyisitan Olarenwaju Gabriel. We used to dance together to this music late 70s and early 80s in Surulere Lagos. May the soul of the faithful departed soul continue to rest in peace

This brand of apala music was very popular in the Yoruba entertainment cycle. Chief Ligali Mukaila music was unique and danceable. He died about 30 years ago. Yet his music is still popular and people still make reference to his music. Socialites still appreciate him. I was fortunate to have attended some of his live shows. Even though I was a young man then I can still remember that he was an entertainer. Also a crowd puller. Majority of his fans (women) always queued before him to sing and praise them at private functions. They will dance and paste wards of Naira on his forehead in appreciation. His son Samusideen has taken after him. Samusideen brand of apala music today is a combination and use of instruments such as jax etc. I appreciate him and his efforts to modernised his brand of music. He actually wanted to use same vocalist tune of his father. Unfortunately he did not get it right. He will do well to use his own voice and try not to copy his dad's voice. I have not attended any of his live shows. Though I have a copy of his CD. He should try and be independent. More than two of Mukaiba's children are now full time musicians. Cheers.

I learnt about his music from my dad. Whenever my dad is singing his song he will be smiling. He played during my dad's warming in 1968
