Yep. I was able to get a haunting solo combination for this one with an 8' Gemshorn, and 1 1/3' Quint + tremulant on the Wicks I was playing at the time.
I enjoyed the video, cause i love this piece very much but.... I dont know the temperament of this organ but there are a couple of notes that sound to me slightly out of tune in the bass line in the same passage ... (i.e 5:02, 6:11, 7:12, 8:18, 9:25 and finally in 14:05, 15:04)
Yes, I love this prelude, too. Tuning issues are very common in Norway in the spring, as the snow clears and the air suddenly gets warmer and dryer - so we get rather used to it, I'm afraid! Tim
Yes, because I hadn't planned to look at this piece, I was playing from a copy of a copy of the old Bach-Gesellschaft edition which was all I had to hand (way out of copyright, so no problem with the copies) - which includes C-clefs. Well spotted! Tim
Some organists have a doctrinaire approach to articulation (with the "good" notes being emphasized), which for me makes the music sound tedious. The best organists, e.g., Rene Saorgin, strike a middle ground between historical performance and freedom and are able to achieve a lyrical effect.
This is a most helpful video - considering the many registration possibilities. An eye-opener to an old, very much self-taught, organist. Thank you.

So glad it was helpful! Tim
Beautifully played as ever, Tim! God bless
Thank you so much, Alastair! Good to hear from you - God bless, Tim
One of my favourites! Thank you for this superb video.
Thank you so much! Yes, it's a glorious prelude. Tim
I love this prelude. Very helpful to get ideas for varied repeats - thank you.
So sorry to read about your friend - condolences.
Yes, one of my favourites, too. And it's satisfying to improvise the varied repeats - they reflect how you're feeling on the day! Tim

What edition are you playing from today? Are those C-clefs?

I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and many thanks for your observations. Tim
