Modern WRC cars these days run faster with engines well under 2lt. But aesthetically there is nothing that compares to Group B. Vale Michèle Mouton. The woman behind the Audi Quattro's fame of this era and, sadly, still to this day the ONLY female driver to have ever raced in the WRC.
i mean, did you know some of these beasts also ran under 2 liters? the quattro was 2.1ltrs, and the 205 and lancia were 1.8ltrs. but 5+ bars of boost does wonders to power density.

Group B drivers were literally built different. They took these death traps and raced them down paths barely wider than a bike lane and did it at full speed.
For anyone wondering, the reason Group B was shut down was because of the inherent dangers that kept posing risk after risk after risk. One crash in one race was particularly tragic because, if my memory serves, 13 people (mostly spectators) died as a result of the crash. The cars were so fast that the drivers often spoke of tunnel vision, and each team had a kicensed therapist travel with them because when mechanics would take the cars apart to service them, they would oftern find things like chunks of human hair, and in some instances, severed fingers. The Death of Group B Rally Racing was almost the death of rally racing altogether.
Not really the death of rally racing, since Group A had more attendees in the following years, and were even faster by 1992. One of the closest and diverse fields the sport has ever seen at the top class.
