I totally understood where you were coming from. It's crazy that some of these doctors don't have compassion or even the proper care for people to even help them achieve what the what. I have run across a few doctors like that in my lifetime and quickly replaced them. I'm sure they have approved people in wheelchairs to have the surgery done. You're not the only bariatric patient in a wheelchairs seeking to have surgery and you definitely won't be the last. It was just those doctors. I know you're going to get where you want to be because I know how determined you can be when you put your mind to something. Love you sis🥰

Hey Girl, glad to see you back doing what you love. These days doing what you love is half the battle. Keep trying with the surgery, One bad lion don’t stop a show! Wendy had her surgery in July(sleeve) she said; “she wish she had been done it.” They tried to get her to do the bypass but she opted out and did the sleeve. She has had no problems so far, her weight loss is slower but that is good because she is not getting all the sagging skin. My daughter in law went, her surgery date was scheduled and 2 weeks before after she saw the psychiatrist the called and canceled her date…said she needed to do couple months of therapy. She was discouraged at first but with the new she decided to get healthy on her own. She is making some serious life changes for her health. Call Wendy or I if ever you need to talk….Love Ya, Kim

I feel your pain girl. My right knee has no cartilage, my left knee has barely any but thank god I’m still mobile. The doctors told me I had to lose weight before I can get knee replacements so I had the sleeve surgery and I’m down from 387lb to 245lb. Now they saying I gotta be older. I’m 48. Some of these doctors are full of excuses. You are entitled to a second option. That’s your right. Good luck girl. I’m rooting for u! By the way u can do it without the surgery (it’s harder) but u got this!!

Sorry you had that experience. You have the right to participate in your own treatment so don’t get discouraged! Hope you find another doctor for your second opinion. Happy 2022!

The doctor asked you those questions to test your research on the procedure. His thinking was if you cannot be specific answering his questions, you would not have what it takes to do what you had to do to change your lifestyle forever after surgery. This is how they weed out candidates.

I got the sleeve. I’m in Huntsville Alabama. My doctor Ravindra V Mailapur DBA he requires you to loose weight before surgery depending on your weight. He does that bc he says I think if I remember correctly that he needs you liver to shrink to pretty much have a successful surgery. He has never had a death from performing these surgeries(gastric bypass/ gastric sleeve) and many doctors do. So maybe that’s why your doctor was hesitant. I was like 300 pounds and he made me do a low carb diet before surgery and I had to loose 10 pounds and if you don’t loose the weight on surgery day he will not operate. But like I said just keep the faith and hopefully everything will work out for you 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽! Oh yeah after surgery my doctor wanted us to do like 20 laps in the ward before you left and you couldn’t leave unless you walked all your laps.

Their bedside manner was probably terrible and unacceptable, but please understand that no doctor will touch you until you lose a certain amount of weight on your own and you can stand…you’re considered high risk for any doctor if you can’t do those two things. They need to see what your commitment level will be after the surgery because you have to be mobile. There are doctors out there who are committed to helping people and are not so judgemental but they will expect you to do your part first…. Good luck to you, you can do it!

I’m late to the party but have you tried juicing? Low carb, low sugar, just protein and vegetables. Juice and water 2-3 days a week

Those Dr's told you what you needed to hear, not what you wanted to hear. IF ur unable to walk now, imagine ur mobility after surgery ... they were avoiding a lawsuit...and chair exercises are pretty much useless, u need cardio...

Sounds like they asked you all the right questions but you ain’t like the circumstances. Those were standard questions and real concerns. They deal with this stuff everyday and know how things usually go. & so what’s going on now? You know best so are you a slim tender now? Or did you get your knees down yet? Hopefully you’re mobile now, whichever way you decided to go.
