I shed a tear upon rewatch after learning that it was made as tribute to the mod dev divide. What an absolutely beautiful thing to make for a deceased friend, they surely would be proud of him.
I do not know anything about FNF, I just heard this from my son playing, but when I saw the lyrics, it made me tear up, I was holding as I do not want my kid to see me cry, when I watched it fully I cried, what resonated with me is the battle within myself, because when you grow old enough you get tired of everything. My younger self won't be proud of me as I've already given up, it's tiring everyday just to repeat the same old routine, I want to be proud of myself, I want my younger self to see me proud of what I am today.. but I can't see that happening. But I still am hopeful that one day when I face myself I'll be proud.

It hit too close to home because i also like to make my own characters, so the idea of a fellow creator dying early then their friends animating that creators oc mourning them in this kind of way hit me extra hard.
For those of you who don’t know, here’s why on earth Yourself (the lanky ass bf) says what he says: His creator, Divide, who worked on the Vs Sonic.exe mod, passed away of cancer in his sleep. That’s why Yourself says “stay awake long enough to see my way-“ he’s asking his creator to stay long enough to see the heights he has reached. Additionally, the line “I’ll make you say how proud you are of me” could be referring to a variety of things. A. He could be speaking directly to BF, telling bf to be proud of him because Yourself strives to be just like BF. B. He could be talking to his deceased gf, Herself, asking HER to be proud of what he’s doing and who he is. (Quick fun fact: Herself actually sings along with the following line, and IS the red smoke that comes off of Yourself) C. He could be talking to divide, in a similar vein to his last line. These lyrics are just masterfully written, and they were SO well delivered. Truly a worthy way to honor Divide.
Yeah my man, Yourself has a tragic backstory, and the lyrics line is a masterpiece. Sure is one of the bests mod we will ever see. My Condolences to Divide. And, by the way, the lyrics have a double meaning and go to both Herself and the now deceased Divide. When he say the "stay awake" thing, he talks about Divide to see how he has grown up, and to her Girlfriend, saying how he wants her to not die and stay with him. Its so sad but... How beautiful.

The lyrics had some chill worthy moment. That "Proud of me"The "YES" ANSWER OF THAT WORD IS WHAT I ALWAYS WANT TO HEAR FROM MY PARENTS well we are still living normally without conflict but I haven't achieved anything that They can be proud of, But i hope on the near future i able to hear that from them since our times isn't Infinite. Also to whoever read this i wish you the same.
