Queen Introduction with Push-In Cage, Part 1

Here we are introducing a queen using a push-in cage. This allows the queen to begin laying and is the most successful method of queen introduction

yes interesting. Ive swapped queens from healthy hives before. They are accepted every time. Also once I leaned a frame with the queen on it on another hive. Looked back at the frame a few minutes later and she was gone. I opened up the hive the frame was leaning on and she was running around the foreign hive looking in cells so she could lay, never being bothered by the hive.

If she was laying when you put her in there they will love her like their own.

correct...don't even need the push in cage if she was a laying queen.

Kevin McMahon by laying, i assume you mean just laying. Like, hasn’t been shipped across the country for 3 days right?

@@decaturridgebees8761 correct....a queen will shrink down in a day in a cage and become a non-laying mated queen.......but you can pull a laying queen out of a hive and immediately run her into a queenless hive and they will accept her 99% of the time. A non-laying queen needs the introduction time or they will ball her up immediately....virgins can be released into a queenless hive and you will generally get good acceptance as well
