I went on tour with the ORIGINAL Tierra back in the early 80's, shortly after they had just released their hit "Together". It was one of the BEST experiences of my life. Rudy/Steve Salas, Joey Guerra, Phillip M. (drummer), Mike (Vocals), Andre Baeza etc..The tour went all over Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Northern Califonia. It was GREAT times!!! To this day, I still follow the group though the majority of the original members are no longer part of the group. They still sound GREAT!
In 1981 I was in basic, Fort Benning Ga. I volunteered to clean the office so I could listen to the radio. When I turned up the music Tierra came on, I was blown away it took me back to ELA for a minute. Never forget that.
Tierra still exists big time. Congratulations. Love your music & proud & honored to know that my brother used to play with your band years ago at the Mardi Gras Nite Club in L.A. on Wilshire as a back up bass guitar player. Love Ya Tierra
As a young man stationed in Cali in the late 70's, I saw these guys and Tower of Power in concert. I am from Memphis and grew up on the music of Stax and Motown- this was a different sound altogether. Viva Tierra!!
These boys opened the door for the Latino Musician, God Blessed the boy's with the Gift to touch the world with their Music!!! Love all these song's would listen to them in my 1966 Chevy Low Rider back in the day. Graduated in 1982 so this will tell you how old I am LOL.

I play Latinjazz, blue and Soul ...I dream of playing this incredible music. This is music! Not the crap thats out there. For this music you actually had to sing great, be great musicians and have class.--ORALE!
Memories, memories, I love Tierra. Way back in the day I saw the band at a concert at Cal State LA. How they wowed me........... I still love their music always and forever. Note: all time favorite: "La Feria" That's going way back.
I remember watching them on Soul Train, when "Together" came out in the early 80s and Don Cornelius gave them props stating that they had been kicking around for awhile. Basically he acknowledged that they had been working the clubs for a long time, paying their dues and finally got their big hit. I was in the service back then, and every club I went into was playing the song. Good times.
I was a crazy kid when I first heard this song by the Intruders, I think, but I love this version. Billy Stewert, The Midniters, War, Rosy & the Originals, A wiped out Italian hang with my brown brother in the projects. We had fun. I miss you Gilberto

Thanks, I can now see it is Mr.Salas who is the original singer for Tierra but he sounded better on the "together" @ Route 66 2007" video like he did back in his original recording for some reason, either way I finally got to see what he looks like
Latinos and Italian Americans are the only people on this planet who can perform soul just as good as (and in some cases, better than) African Americans. I'm ready for anyone who wants to challenge my statement. God Bless African American,Latino and Italian soul brothers!
