What a bloody great pub, great publicans, and a reasonably priced Schnitty ! These guys love what they do and have brought so much livelyhood to the pub - with fun activities, bands and the best laughs - no Sydney bullshit that’s for sure ❤
Bloody brilliant love how these are real country pubs run by locals, not some soulless corporate city hotel. THIS is what Aussie culture is all about! Keep up the great stuff and stick with the country pubs!
Someone tell me this doesnt sound like heaven... Reminds me of where i grew up... small town, everyone gave a shit about each other.. unlike most of modern Aussie.. .
No one talks about the drunks that are forever coming out of that place and driving recklessly along the roads. I know I live 2 doors down. Also the "locals" they are referring too like Bruce the local drunk and Ray who lives across the road from the pub next door to Bruce, Have both lived in Windeyer less than 5 years. The real long term families that have lived here for centuries are the Yavions , Williams and then Pilley families etc. Not much representation here of the real locals. The two running the pub were trying to offload the lease not long ago. The owner of the pub was trying to sell it, it sells about once every 5 years. Alcohol is a real problem out here in the bush, its such a shame they are not representing the full truth. This pub is not open for business most of the week and then after 3 thursday and friday with a community of less than 200 people its not really a busy place at all and in most cases the pub isnt open even for a meal. The big push is for this couple to make money with their cohorts whom brought the caravan park next door to the pub in Feb 2024, its all lies and just a quick attempt at trying to win some kind of money for best small pub in NSW. My advice is to stick to the bigger places in Mudgee they have a lot more to offer. Meal for a snitty chips and salad are over 30bucks a meal. Its twice the price you will pay for a meal in a pub in Mudgee. My opinion only. Just wanted to share another locals input.
Well this is just incorrect. You are entitled to your opinion but don’t go spreading false information about a small business doing their best. The pub is closed Monday and Tuesday. 2 days a week which is pretty reasonable, everyone deserves a weekend. And their schnitzel is $24 which is so standard for a pub. The couple that run the pub haven’t been trying to offload the lease and it’s been for sale for years, which they have no control over. Honestly this sounds like some bitter ramblings based on bias and poor information.
I had the best time meeting the locals of this amazing community. Hal and Nat work harder than anyone I've met and do an incredible job just to keep the place going. We interviewed a third-generation local in episode 1 (Pilley). Bruce and Ray have been in the village for more than five years and have given their heart and soul to the place, so I think your comment is a little unfair. As for the comments about the caravan park owners, John's family have lived in the area for several generations, and Windeyer should be thankful to have them. I truly am sorry you don't like the pub or the people in the village. Unfortunately, I've seen too many villages lose their local and it's often devastating for the community.
@@helena-2134 when did you last eat there as when we have brought meals from there it was always over $30 and Im not spreading untruths i live the village itself. No false info here lovely.
I mean firstly , seems like they did in fact interview long time locals and secondly asserting that people can’t love a town because he haven’t been their for generations is simply untrue. These guys have put so much into this business over the years. Cost of living has gone up everywhere and their pub meals are so reasonable (and not $30), in particular when you consider the additional cost of accessing produce required to make said meals rurally ! These guys aren’t just after a pay day (literally no one who goes into hospo rurally is expecting insane gains in this day and age and if they get it - good on them it means they worked hard and did it right ! I think a little more grace and kindness should be shown to people who have the desire and will to put such life into rural establishments - this country could use more of that energy and willingness to create such a cultural hub for communities. We should encourage and celebrate this type of community centre and not slander it online xo
@@thelocal2856 Im allowed my opinion and I have lived here 14 years now. Ray and Bruce are not long term locals at all. I saw your first video with one of the pilleys in it. But there are so many more long term families i n the area and there is more to a community than a pub. As for caravan park , yes Ive heard johns family previously has resided in Hill End not Windeyer. I have also heard the stories about them. I was giving my opinion on what I have learned in my time here. You dont have to like my opinion. I'll always say it how I see it.
