This is the most delightful pottery project I've seen in a long time. You need to collab with Simone Giertz and make a super-complicated machine using ceramics and robotics. And HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!!
The beginning of this video has big Jenna Marbles energy in the best way. It's wonderful to see how your channel is growing and your videos are getting more ambitious! The end result was so satisfying to watch and to hear. The clinking clay sounds really add something special. Can't wait to see what you make next!
This was great. I like all your videos, but your enthusiasm here made it particularly fun. The sound of the ball rolling and dropping was the best part of this machine. I wouldn't have expected useful lessons from a Rube Goldberg machine build, but your technique for building a large structure will come in handy: as tiles with features made spanning several tiles and then cut apart for firing. Brilliant.
And it makes such a nice sound lol Wait can you make music with something like that? Can you even predict how it'll sound based on the slab thickness or shape? Anyways, great job!
What an amazing project! The fact it (mostly) worked when you had one shot at getting it right is so impressive! Love how sensory it is with plinking on the ceramic too
I laughed so hard at the end watching all your attempts... I mean, this is real entertainment for ceramic worshipers! 😆 So cool, Mia! And happy belated birthday 💛
I did pottery at art college when I was younger and I never really appreciated it but watching your videos really makes me wish I had taken advantage of the pottery studio that was available to me. This channel is so chill and I really enjoy your vids
Such a fun project and as always, you have such happy, easy-going energy (even when anxious/nervous)! I love that you made a more sculptural tiling piece! ❤ 🎉
This rips! I think it's a gorgeous piece of art, ESPECIALLY because of the little 'flaws'! If you ever do another, it would be sweet to see a painted finish!
A wonderful clay build Mia!! Such fun!! So happy you take ceramics into whole new and unconventional areas. Cups, bowls and teapots are gorgeous but clay can be so much more than that. Love your sense of adventure!! I would love to see more of your challenging and eclectic projects. TFS!!
Yes, i like this video. Something diff then pots and cups, which is ofcourse always good. What a patience you showed here. A lot of thinking, a lot of work. Very constructive. And in the end it worked! Wow. 👏 love the last run when the ball smashed the little vase completely. Thanks for this nice video 👍 And oh, happy belated birthday😊
Truly such a lovely personality and vibe! People can sometimes tell when things are scripted, but I have feeling that most, if not all of your reactions are truly genuine and in-the-moment. And it's about the best part of life - making plans you want, and finding a way to make due when things go unexpectedly, all while just enjoying the experience. Thanks for the smiles, gave you a like and sub. Cheers!
Das Va Tolle!!! ive been binge watching your videos and find that you are one of my favorites. i to am American living in germany. been here 12 years now.
This was a great video. You should do more like this. So much joy! Mia, you definitely, definitely have the brain of an engineer. I understand the way you think and plan and obsess at night about your how projects should proceed because I do exactly the same thing (and yes, I’m an engineer). So satisfying when it all comes together!
I do love watching you go through the process, it's funny because I'm so much like that myself. I call myself more whimsical because I don't do straight lines or precision very well, I'm a little impatient, so when I have a challenging commissioned project ( if I don't give up halfway through)... it really pushes me to finish. But you did it, you finished and it's incredible! You are such a joy to watch . Ich wünsche dir einen wundervollen Tag!!
What an absurd contraption. I absolutely loved it. I wonder if there's a good way to support these pieces while they dry, so they warp less? I guess it would be hard to add the right kind of support without just making it harder for them to dry out...
This is so beautiful - in concept and in its final form. ❤ I love it on your studio's wall and could see this in a beautiful villa as an art piece. I would certainly hang it up!
This is fabulous! Loved it and the sounds of the machine working. I especially love the question, which should be the titular of this piece, What to Do With Pots I Don’t Want.
So much fun!!! I loved watching your process! MORE MORE MORE!!!! You’re excitement is contagious 🥰 Do you get to see your family in the US too? I love the idea of moving to a new country. Thanks, this was very entertaining!
Omg this thing is so cool-like even when you kinda mess up it is such a cool thing to see. I’d love to see you make like a second attempt bigger version of this (now with a little more experience). Even just seeing all these experimental projects I love! Please do more videos like this!!! ❤
i am so proud of you! genuinely happy. AND to make something out of clay to destroy your other clay creations... i love it. i don`t know, this made me emotional :`)
What a fun project! If you are doing another one then try to let the tiles make sound. In the try run you heard a very nice noise coming from the tiles but after fixing them together the noise was dull. Maybe working together with Laura kampf? To make a lift so the ball would return to the starting position.
I hope your birthday was lovely! And your device is great fun to watch in action! I will make a small suggestion in case you want to save the lives of those cute little vases, try switching the balls around. Or make the last ball smaller. But I understand if you really enjoy smashing stuff, lol.
Wonderful! I watch your channel for the creativity and joy that you have for your craft. As an engineer, I enjoy the new perspectives I get into a totally different type of field. So this video really brought things together for me! AND IT WORKED! So cool.
I feel like this whole project is just a ploy to make smashing and destroying your unwanted pots more fun hahaha 😄 we all loved it tho! and Happy (belated) Birthday!
This is an amazing build you do great work! If you were to ever do this again I’d suggest adding metal rods running the length of the lever (acting like rebar in concrete) to add a lot of strength so you wouldn’t have to worry about it breaking as much!
I love seeing you doing this challemges. And yes, I think to, that Simone Giertz or Laura Kampf would make a great coop. They would both get a huge challemge outside their comfortzone for sure, but it would be fun to watsh. I love the sound
Happy birthday 🥳 🎂 🎈 🎉❤. Idk if you know of Shelby Sherritt. She has a mystery mould series on her channel. She was stressing about mug handles exploding in her kiln & I told her to watch your video about moisture causing explosions instead of trapped air. I’m mentioning it because she wrecked a design she liked for that reason & it made me so sad
Excellent! Video and contraption! Well done! Now I’ve seen it, I think I would lay the pot over so the ball has a better chance of breaking, and/or making the final drop a bit higher to give the ball more force. But that’s just me being picky. Great watch Ing you, no matter the outcome
This is the most delightful pottery project I've seen in a long time. You need to collab with Simone Giertz and make a super-complicated machine using ceramics and robotics. And HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!!
Yes! Such a good idea! 👏
I would love to 🥹 she is my favorite youtuber 🥰
I was watching and thinking “oh man, Simone would love this” 😂 So. Much. FUN!!!
Lmao! Came here to say the exact same thing! I'm gonna add my voice to hopefully manifest this dream collab 😂💖💖
Ooooooh!!!! Yes! Yes! Do it. A collab with you two would be awesome.
This was an absolute delight to watch! You're a clay engineer! I love these videos where you explore something a little unexpected with clay.
the intro reminded me so much of Jenna Marbles videos when she used to make random and ridiculous decisions for fun on youtube
haha YES that was the reference. So glad someone got it 😄
This idea needs to be suggested as the ‘final piece’ in the next series of The Great Pottery Throwdown, surely ? Great concept Mia.
The beginning of this video has big Jenna Marbles energy in the best way. It's wonderful to see how your channel is growing and your videos are getting more ambitious! The end result was so satisfying to watch and to hear. The clinking clay sounds really add something special. Can't wait to see what you make next!
Omg I was literally just going to comment about the Jenna energy! Also, Happy Belated Birthday to the newly ~33 year old ladyyy~
Brilliant.
Thanks so much 🥰
this is insane, domino effect is awesome in clay form😅
And it makes such a nice sound lol
Wait can you make music with something like that? Can you even predict how it'll sound based on the slab thickness or shape?
Anyways, great job!
Watching you plan and figure out what you envision, lay it out, talk about the process, and work through it, is so enthralling.
Please yeah !!!!! Do A LOT of such projects again. I LOVE it 😃👍🙃
yay!! so glad you liked it! ❤️
I admire your ability to know that an idea may go wrong and totally not work but yet you press on with humility and laughter at minor mistakes.
I could watch your machine smashing vases all day! Please please PLEASE do it again! You are a genius! *.*
I’m so amused that you trimmed things back - and then manually made a lip. Looks like an amazing solution to your problem!
You're done with the Pottery Throwdown, so now you're inventing your own challenges lol. It's amazing!
That was such a joy to watch! And the purest happiness you had when it worked just melted my heart. You are amazing!
I did pottery at art college when I was younger and I never really appreciated it but watching your videos really makes me wish I had taken advantage of the pottery studio that was available to me. This channel is so chill and I really enjoy your vids
A joy to watch this project. Imagine the merger of engineering and pottery skills. Proud of you.
Such a fun project and as always, you have such happy, easy-going energy (even when anxious/nervous)! I love that you made a more sculptural tiling piece! ❤ 🎉
Thank you! It was fun and stressful haha

Yes, I’d like to see more Rube Goldberg devices!
I can't stop smiling after watching this. Great job!!!
your goofiness just got you a new subscriber. keep the silly projects coming! :)
haha thank you!! :)
This is awesome. Love when people push what pottery is used for!
loving how you just dove head long right into this!
Yes, i like this video. Something diff then pots and cups, which is ofcourse always good. What a patience you showed here. A lot of thinking, a lot of work. Very constructive. And in the end it worked! Wow. 👏 love the last run when the ball smashed the little vase completely.

hehe thank is GREAT to hear ❤️

Oh I loved it and felt realy proud of you. This was realy enjoying and fun! Listen to your laugh was a plus! Please, do more.
Your creativity continues to amaze me! Good job! Such fun to watch!

This was extremely fun. Your content keeps getting better and more creative each time. Thank you!
that is kind of you to say! I’m always trying to do better 😌
This was so much fun! I love your reaction when it worked. Happy birthday! And great job!
What an absurd contraption. I absolutely loved it.
I wonder if there's a good way to support these pieces while they dry, so they warp less? I guess it would be hard to add the right kind of support without just making it harder for them to dry out...
THAT WAS SO COOL!!!!!!
This is my new favorite thing. It was so delightful and I learned good pottery tips! I’m so happy it clobbered that pot in the end 😂😂
Add a clear plastic or glass panel so the ball stays in & then add a lip in front of the pot at the bottom so it smashes better
I'll remember this video like an example to follow when I lose patience 🤩 !! I really love and enjoyed ❤️🙌🏽
Clear plexiglass over the front with hinged door so you can put pot to be crushed in. Would finish it nicely.
Your video editing has improved so much! I feel more connected to you. And I love it! 🫶🏼
omg! I'm over here jumping and yelling !! You did it! BTW I knew you would. Love it
make another one!!!! pleaseeee its so goooood
This was so much fun to watch! I had a grin on my face when it worked the first time!!
Happy Birthday nachträglich!
This is Machine so cool! Also, I love how dark your red clay gets after firing, so gorgeous.
Danke dir!! ❤️
It works!! Have to admit I did not have much faith that it would. YAY!
Loved loved loved it!!!!!!!!! Even the idea is inspiring!! Please do more!!
Yes, I did like this! Quite nerve wrecking indeed, I imagine...
You're doing great work, keep it up please 😊
I admire your creativity and the courage to impliment them!
Very cool project. It took a few tries but it’s super difficult to make something work without really testing it… like you said.
This was so much fun to watch. I cringed as you cringed. But cheered you on at each milestone. A fantastic way to celebrate your birthday🎉
So much fun!!! I loved watching your process! MORE MORE MORE!!!! You’re excitement is contagious 🥰 Do you get to see your family in the US too? I love the idea of moving to a new country. Thanks, this was very entertaining!

Watching your machine work was great fun
It's a singing machine. Beautiful. 🎉
You are ao fun! I LOVE your videos and how you are yourself. KEEP going please!
i am so proud of you! genuinely happy. AND to make something out of clay to destroy your other clay creations... i love it. i don`t know, this made me emotional :`)
My daughter and I been trying to figure out how to do clay hand puppets and automas with clay so this is helpful, thank you for the video!
What a fun project! If you are doing another one then try to let the tiles make sound.
In the try run you heard a very nice noise coming from the tiles but after fixing them together the noise was dull.
Maybe working together with Laura kampf? To make a lift so the ball would return to the starting position.
Genial trabajo, muy creativo, solo puedo aportar que la pelota grande si la reduces solo un poco ya no romperá el jarro 🤗😘👍👏🏻
This might be my favorite video ever!
this was so fun to watch! great inspo for my next project in sculpture class!
I hope your birthday was lovely! And your device is great fun to watch in action! I will make a small suggestion in case you want to save the lives of those cute little vases, try switching the balls around. Or make the last ball smaller. But I understand if you really enjoy smashing stuff, lol.
Happy belated birthday!
And great project!
I love these atypical ones
Wonderful! I watch your channel for the creativity and joy that you have for your craft. As an engineer, I enjoy the new perspectives I get into a totally different type of field. So this video really brought things together for me! AND IT WORKED! So cool.
This is so cool 😊 I was so anxious with you and am so glad it worked so well 🤗
Not you referencing "I wanna be a toothbrush" (my favorite Jenna Marbles video of all time) 🤩
I absolutely loved this project! Super cool x

Pure awsomeness. You and OK Go could make a music video.
You are SO brave. Thank you!
That was awesome!
Thank you!! ❤️
I am literally obsessed with this lol
Happy birthday 🥳 🎂 🎈 🎉❤. Idk if you know of Shelby Sherritt. She has a mystery mould series on her channel.
