I have lived on the North Shore here in Massachusetts for my entire life. New England is a truly magical place when it comes to the 4 seasons. Each one is distinct and unique. I have considered moving many times, but I am not sure I could live with the mundane madness of a single season. Winter can be long and cold but the peaceful silence of a snow storm is an experience that I look forward to year after year. And just when you get sick of the cold or the heat the next season will roll in with all its relief, joy, beauty and wonder.
Grateful that even in the chaos of the home I grew up in, I have the separate memories of the few good friends I had growing up then reconnecting with a best one who has agreed to share these last couple of decades together w me. ~Grateful for such moments Hopeful for all to experience once in their lifetime~

I was born and raised in New England. Here is a tip for you - ignore the main roads,. Focus on the 2 and 1-1/2 lane back roads. That is where the gems are. Remember to stop at any "General Stores" in small towns. They will surely take you to a magical part of your trip.

Watching this video in particular really caught me by surprise. There was the Stowe Community Church in the center of town. Then some of the other buildings, at once familiar and yet somehow changed. And then…..there was Ten Acres Lodge on the road up to the Trapp Family Lodge. Ten Acres once belonged to my husband, David and me, where we spent almost 10 years of our lives. Loving our staff, the very best in town, and the life we’d chosen as innkeepers for a decade. Many old timers will remember us, and more still its long history of the inn itself, from after WW2 to today. Please keep celebrating small town New England. It is indeed a Very Special Place. It is till the place I think of as home, but then I only spent 30 years there. Thank you, thank you both. 🥲 😘 🙂↕️ I’ll keep that flame alive for as long as I live.

I remember going along w the complaining 5:02 about the snow when I got older, too, but not so much when we were younger as long as a snowball fight was a possibility (isn't that how it always is😂). Now, 29 yrs transplanted south, I have such a sense of pride when my coworkers come to me asking advice on where & when to start seeking out fleece-lined stuff & GOOD boots for their treks to visit the grandkids in Upstate NY & Pittsburg over Christmas break. They still tease me & say I dress like Ralphie's brother from A Christmas Story all wrapped up the first chilly day we get here, but that's the New Yawkah in me😂 Gotta wear this stuff as much as I can and it keeps my heart happy to remember my roots.😊 ~Best memories for me~ Then @ 11:19 remembering the safety cones put at the weak spots of the pond then getting super excited when there were none because that meant the ice tested safe all around, not just in a smaller area and was solid enough to skate the whole length of the pond😊 I still have pics of the snow on branches in our backyard taken w my little slimline pocket camera I got for Christmas in 2nd grade. I also got a Lucy watch that I still have. I felt so grown up!

love skating,we went skating on canyon ferry( first large reservoir on the Missouri) yesterday afternoon, the wind had polished the ice it was a speed skate day skated over to goose bay about 6 miles round trip the peaks of the tobacco roots and all the ranges lit with alpenglow. and the eagles and tundra swans effortlessly a flight above in a world shared and yet theirs alone.then home driving a moon illuminated snowscape past elk and mule deer herds to our hilltop farming town, winter belatedly settling over Montanas high country
Aahh thatcweather used to happen here in Iowa but the past few years it has changed so much. This past week one day was 70 degrees and we had 🌪 warnings!

I remember going along w the complaining 5:02 about the snow when I got older, too, but not so much when we were younger as long as a snowball fight was a possibility (isn't that how it always is😂).
Now, 29 yrs transplanted south, I have such a sense of pride when my coworkers come to me asking advice on where & when to start seeking out fleece-lined stuff & GOOD boots for their treks to visit the grandkids in Upstate NY & Pittsburg over Christmas break.
They still tease me & say I dress like Ralphie's brother from A Christmas Story all wrapped up the first chilly day we get here, but that's the New Yawkah in me😂
Gotta wear this stuff as much as I can and it keeps my heart happy to remember my roots.😊

Then @ 11:19 remembering the safety cones put at the weak spots of the pond then getting super excited when there were none because that meant the ice tested safe all around, not just in a smaller area and was solid enough to skate the whole length of the pond😊
I still have pics of the snow on branches in our backyard taken w my little slimline pocket camera I got for Christmas in 2nd grade. I also got a Lucy watch that I still have. I felt so grown up!

love skating,we went skating on canyon ferry( first large reservoir on the Missouri) yesterday afternoon, the wind had polished the ice it was a speed skate day skated over to goose bay about 6 miles round trip the peaks of the tobacco roots and all the ranges lit with alpenglow. and the eagles and tundra swans effortlessly a flight above in a world shared and yet theirs alone.then home driving a moon illuminated snowscape past elk and mule deer herds to our hilltop farming town, winter belatedly settling over Montanas high country

Just a great video. Love all the scenery and the drone shots and the editing also. I think it's best watched with all the lights off and silence in the room, enlarge the video to the full screen and have your feet up with your favorite cocktail and/or hot chocolate and with your someone special.
