I just watched an episode of QI where Jordan Gray (so funny, smart and charming!) was on the panel and had to check out a performance. So impressive! I get a bit of Russell Brand vibes somehow... lots of energy and expression. The musical talent! Again, so funny, smart, and charming. I hope I see Jordan Gray all over the place! Taskmaster, anyone?
Tim Minchin vibes to this songwriting :) That was great, totally got me off guard lol. Reminds me of when Jordan of The Axis Of Awesome came out to reveal the band's big secret with The Elephant In the Room after her transition, and the big secret is that Lee is bald xD Musical comedy rules
Undeniably, this is probably my favourite guest that has appeared on The Russell Howard Hour by a wide margin! As another commentor put it, they're like a 'LGBTQ & British Bo Burnham'! Pretty much every joke at least prompted a smile, if not a good laugh! For once, I might actually check out more of a guest's stuff! I'm quite happy that Russell, (or whatever producer was behind this), decided to give them a platform!
Am surprised Russell is finally getting people outside his comfort zone on his show but really wished this performance ended up being like Friday Night Live if it meant luring out the apt audience of tory & protest voters for next election & onwards
She's? Didn't you watch it? He's a male. :) Yeah, after blackface we have now womanface. Difference is, blackface is being looked down, while womanface is being rewareded.

This is so hilarious, I´ve already watched it 5 times. 😄😆🤣😆😂 But a word of advice for all who suffer from celiac diease: traditional German pumpernickel from Westphalia is glutenfree. 🍞It contains no wheat at all, but is baked from 100% rye, salt and yeast. 🍞 Jordan Gray is a genius, and so cute!💐Now I will listen again to that song 😂
Rye and oats are generally not sufficiently devoid of gluten for a celiac. Someone with a non-allergy gluten-sensitivity such as myself may be able tolerate them, but it is inadvisable for a celiac. Also, 100% rye is okay for "toast," but it is not a good general substitute for bread, I've tried.
First saw Jordan on QI where she had possibly one of the best guest debuts ever. Very funny, very intelligent and definitely more than quite interesting. Seeing some of her comedy now and I’m definitely a fan. She gives me Bill Bailey and Tim Minchin vibes. She has an incredible voice and energy which reminds you of a mix between David Bowie, Freddie Mercury and Mark Hamill’s Joker at one point when she laughed after the “Croissant”. The song was very clever, hilarious and thoroughly entertaining. She can rap and beatbox too. The Gluten Free bit was excellent timing 😂
Is it me, or was that just a different take on Tim Minchin's Prejudice? There were certainly some similarities melodically, and the joke is pretty much the same; it's not about what you initially think it's about. There's even a line about gingerbread, for goodness' sake. I'm sure she's funnier than that, but it just feels unoriginal, frankly.
Undeniably Minchin influences there, but each generation needs their own and I guess 'she' could be that of the current lot? Like you, I didnt think she was as funny but we're probably biased, plus she's just starting out (?) so may well still have a lot to come. Everybody's gotta start somewhere 😊
Idk, if anything it reminds me more of the elephant in the room by axis of awesome, if we're going to compare The only real similarity with prejudice is the pullback and reveal, an age old comedy technique that Minchin 100% didn't invent. I'm sure there's influence, but if you're going to call every comedian who uses pullback and reveal unoriginal, then I'm not sure exactly which comedians you find original.
@@AndroJonny95 Well, not being aware of Axis of Awesome, I can't make that comparison. It's more the presentation of it, including the various cheeky looks to the audience. Obviously, it's an age-old format, but her performance does feel hugely derivative.
A growing number of women are extremely uncomfortable with the misogyny in their show. Whatever gender identity you are, it doesn't excuse that kind of behaviour.
I understand being progressive and accepting of others as they want to be perceived, but I also believe that what separates us as men and women is an intricately designed and developed system of not only reproductive working’s but also deeply embedded survival code’s, emotional platforms, mental processes and spiritual systems that one simply Cannot deny by pretending. Pretending is reality avoidance. And that’s what leads me to believe that you can avoid your reality and pretend to be different in nature than how you were created…. But you’re only lying to yourself, because nature knows your true nature.
You’ve also got to account for culture and upbringing. Most of what we term ‘masculine’ and ‘feminine’ is a societal norm, not necessarily a natural instinct. For example western manly and Latin macho are not exactly the same
We have more evidence to suggest that gender is a social construction than something that's genetically coded. For example, the same crying baby was shown to the public, when they were told the baby was a girl, people believed her to be upset. When told the baby was a boy, people said he was angry. it was the same baby. Generally, science has found little difference in female and male brains. The want to distinctly separate people based on sex or gender is perhaps your own attempt in validifying your own. I promise you, saying trans people are reality avoidant does not make you any more of a man/woman. And what are these spiritual systems and survival codes you speak of?
She’s a transgender lady. It is why she made references to her hands etc. but for ease she’s a woman. Often helpful to go by how someone presents themselves. She has makeup, a dress, long hair, and referred to herself as a lady.
In the trans community that answer is complicated. Some old schoolers say Trans ID'D Man, as has a fully functioning penis and heterosexual dating behaviour, but trans identified. They are referred to by sex researcher Dr Candor as "shemales" in scientific literature as they have a hugely different sex and fetish profile than MtF transsexuals, and they really aren't the same as full on post op ts. Most of them are very male brained on brain scans but adopt female clothes and take small doses of hormones. To claim JG is the same as a normal TS is highly offensive to fully transitioned transsexual women who are tired of being lumped into the same group. There is a huge war going on in the trans community about it. It's toxic.
Wow now that's a comedian fantastic well fantastic well done J G and thanks to you Russell. 🤣😂🤣😂👍
