I always said that I wouldn't voice my opinions on things like this because I didn't wan't to get into a pissing match with anyone, but I really like the all chrome on the deep blue paint, but that's just my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I like the all chrome on this car. That being said, I've never seen the grilles that y'all are talking about, so seeing that could change my mind, but as of right now I'm onboard with team chrome. Edit: thinking about this reminds me of when I had to replace the fenders on my turbo Civic coupe and I chose Z3 style fenders and everyone told me they looked like shit, but I really liked them because I thought they gave the car some class. In time I realized that they looked really ricey and bought a new set of OEM fenders. My Civic makes 612 whp, so it's built as a dragcar, but it's also a showcar, so it has to look half decent.

In my humble opinion...the chrome grills are best/ classic and the black timing cover is clean. Feels professional. The clear reminds me of those cut away model engine kits from when I was a kid.
Not normally a fan of the Chrome grills but yours looks just right. The transparent cambelt cover makes the engine bay. The Blue belt and filter gives it a real JDM look to go with the 2JZ. And the noise Wow!! Good job!!!
I had an E46M3, take the chrome off, and put the black grille back in. NO way the chrome looks better, black out your badges as well. Blacked out look 1000 times more menacing, which in a supercar killer is really what you want. Thanks for the videos guys! Great content.
My E46 M3 is Titanium Silver and I love my matte black grilles, but you're absolutely right. The chrome kidneys look much better on the dark color. Love this build!
Drill a hole in each corner to start when you cut a square/rectangle hole with a wheel. You can use a different sized drill bit depending on what you're trying to accomplish. Gives a really nice look, makes it really easy to cut and won't create a stress riser if it is a fatigue area.
The chrome grill does look better and imo the clear cover looks better as you can see the timing belt and matches the air intake, but that's my opinion. Keep up the amazing content guys!
I really like the chrome kidney grills to be honest. I like the contrast of them and they go better with the color of the car. That timing cover though i would have probably painted the same color blue as the belt and and the air filter.

A cigar and a glove work just as well for a smoke test. The smoke machine is overkill. Digging the chrome grills and the black timing cover, not the full cover, the red is a solid motorsport aesthetic.
Yeah, the chrome all the way. Definitely needs some contrast with such a dark colored car! And also, since you have some blue stuff under the hood, the JRZ topmounts, air filter, the timing belt really pops through that clear cover!
I'm converted... On the E46, the chrome grille works way better. The full black valve cover looks way better. Much better than the clear. The clear looks good when you have pretty cam gears.
as a CB owner myself the grille debate is certainly not an easy one. Though as you stated with the intercooler I think chrome is the way to go - in addition to the silver wheels you have. As such though I think the OEM clear corner lights instead of the current smoked set you have would be the way to go - especially when all your other hardware is OE. Just my two cents.
Well, I like the clear top cover. The blue belt, with the red coil packs, look cool. Don't hide that stuff. I have blue color coil packs with blue belts, and hoses, on my VQ35. Dig it the most...
I so wanted the black grills but you are somewhat right. Thry do get kind of lost there. Although... I'd also remove the yellow high beams. They don't go with the chrome grills. Chrome grills are classy, yellow lights are racecar-y. I think black grills + yellow lights, or chrome grills + OEM lights. I like the OEM cam gear cover better!

The grill and wheel combo has to be dialed in order to set a theme. This carbon black is gorgeous as it stands with the chrome grills and silver wheels. The colored lamps add a good contrast. I would love to see the flat black grills on this monster with an 18” square set of APEX ARC-8s in Satin Black 🤔
You guys need an actual boost leak tester. The intake will be under pressure above atmospheric levels. You need to pressurize it with something to check couplers and such.
Good work boys! Wild card suggestion for the valve cover/timing cover situation: OCD works billet valve covers AND coil cover...! (Edit: plus clear timing cover)
Blue Tomei timing belt and blue (ARC?) filter look amazing together. Grills should be chrome, even with factory black shadowline trim around the windows, at least on dark colors like oriental blue.

I think that's the best of both worlds. I really don't like the vertical chrome slats, but I really do like the chrome surround.
Yep this is the OEM look and by far the best option. All chrome is fine on some comfort spec auto 323ci old man car, but not this.

I think the ideal would be matte/brushed metallic surrounds with gloss black slats.
The clear timing cover is so much better and it‘s waaay more interesting to look at! The timing belt looks so good and it matches your air intake!

When you cut square holes in something drill the corners then cut with the grinder, the result will be cleaner in less time.

I really like the Black. Works well with that lip. The inter cooler contrasts with the headlights. It’s like 2 Vs, one upside down, overplayed.
