I'm not sure what happened here but I am new to this and I started watching your videos for their concise and easy to understand lessons. I was frustrated by what Taranis did on my QX7 ACCESS with no D8 Mode and was about to return it as I was having too much difficulty binding it. I finally got it binded in D16 mode after watching several of your vids, not specifically on the binding the transmitter to my TinyHawk 2, but just from the knowledge gained from your vids I was finally able to get something that works inside, but it's rainy so can't try it outside. Thanks
After over 5 years in this hobby I needed this because I hate messing with my Taranis and each time I have to find a walk through and yours is awesome. Keep it up bro and happy ripping.

Holy crap! A video on this stuff that I can follow and understand. I am going to install OpenTX 2.3.9 on my X9 Lite. This should get me through it. With the way all of this Chinese stuff is made, I'm afraid of bricking everything if I'm not positive I fully understand all of the steps involved in updating things.
Hey DrainMan FPV your dedication and service to RC learning is invaluable!! Just got this Taranis DX9 Plus from eBAY (USED) and in great condition and with the hard alu case. But the firmware was 2016 and boot was 2.1 something and no voice. So I followed your (this) video with OTXC235 and did the download and flash procedures. Also saved the files in an orderly manor per your suggestion, but in my style of course (been doing computer stuff since 1980’s lol). Now am operating the kick-ass xmitter with the ‘latest/greatest’ 235 firm and boot!!! It even talks now! Friggin’ awsome!! Much thanks and keep those learning vids coming.
Helped me big time. Even on my Mac where everything is not so easy. Much appreciated. I was on a really old version. At least 3 years old. I updated to try and improve running high FF values in betaflight. Much appreciated

FYI i tried to make it on mac at first but even available options at 4:23 are different, i had less options on mac. i eventually installed windows on my tv's pc and was able to install newest firmware 2.3.9 & bootloader 2.3.9 :) thanks for great videos

Did you speed up the tansfer SD card contents ? the reason i ask my laptop takes about 10 mins.. its a fairly decent laptop 16 gig memory etc just slow as hell at transferring those files..
What do all those boxes mean? Build options. I'm basically new to this hobby, im waiting on delivery for Iflight chimera 7inch, with Dji air unit and Tbs crossfire nano rx, ive got the Jumper T18 Pro and the Tbs crossfire micro tx v2. At some point i'll be getting the Dji hd fpv goggles too. Amazing videos, I will be watching this series alot as I need to learn as much as i can. Ur videos are perfect for me for learning, so i thanku.

I have the Frsky Taranis QX7. I was following you step by step until I got to copy the files to SDcontents. something happen and it got stopped. I tried to do it but it kept giving me the same error. I took the SD card and connected directly to the computer abd transfered the file but the contents will not show up in the radio. its an empty page....... please help
it won't let me download the firmware, says it doesn't recognize a radio is hooked up or that I am missing a driver. I tried following some other tips going into device manager and installing new drivers i got for windows suggested by open tx, but still doesn't work.
The radio type bit doesn't seem to have my radio, its the Jumper T18 Pro, ita has T12-T16 Pro but no T18pro. And how do I find what my Channel order is?
Hello DrainMan , first of all I would like to thank for sharing your knowledge ,,,, My friend I'm a beginner !! I do have a Taranis QX7 radio - firmware 7access-2.3.5 (4fbe....) The reason that I need to update and change my firmware is the fact that there in missing mode at my Taranis , Mode D8 is missing ! The Taranis can be connected to the DRL Simulator and also to the Betaflight program without any problem, , put when I connect it to the OpenTX program it's not possible to Read/Wright & not possible to download the firmware. Please ur advice ?
After updating my X9D+ from fw 2.0.9 to the latest firmware all models doesn't work anymore, all custom functions and other settings are lost and had to be recreated again, even simple thing like the RX module is not the right one. Restoring them from backup doesn't help because the eeprom updates them as soon the tarains is powered on.

Hey Drain man, I have a problem. My R9MM receiver now will not bind. Not an iisue before. I did get the green and red light during the bind process, but when repowering the quad, it will go back to blinking red. Any ideas? Thanks to you and anyone who can direct me cirrectly.

My firmware update file won't save as a .bin file. It just saves as "All files" file type. When I try to flash it to my Qx7S, it says "new firmware is not compatible with the one currently installed!" Is there some file or program that I am missing or something?
For anyone that has this problem, I found the solution. You need to uncheck the box that says "check hardware compatibility" if it's the 1st time you are removing the FrSky stock firmware (this will be true if you have a new radio).
I have xd9 and followed to the T and I lost all my models settings. The names of the crafts are there but when I go to inputs there is nothing! And other things like u cant edit switch positions in model setup.
After updating my Taranis X9D 2019 ACCESS radio to OTX bootloader - 2.3.0, the RADIO setup menu is missing and in its place is a TOOLS menu. Can anyone assist please?
great playlist i have been watching only bardwell but found these very well done and helpful anywho instead of downloading via usb can i doing these procedures onto an exsternel sd card then move the sd to my x7 and flash that way with bootloader??
Updated to Vers: 2.2.4 FW: opentx-x7 Everything went great on up date, only problem now is, I can't turn off my transmitter . It flashes off and on when i try to turn it off. Please HELP!!!

So can I pull the sd card out of my radio and plug it in my computer with an sd card reader and update everything that way? My mac will not recognize my transmitter at all. I know my cord supports data and even tried a usb 2.0 adapter. Im about to trash this thing. By trash i mean sell it lol

hey drainman just followed ur video and completely bricked this fukking Taranis .... so after I unplugged after following all instructions to a T the thing instantly shut off... it will still load in boot loader mode, but if I try to start it up normal it doesn't do a thing... is there anyway to fix this or can you please help can we zoom or connect some way? I don't know what to do and im very frustrated here.... plz let me know if we can link up quickly I don't know what to do here/...

DrainMan FPV Yeah that’s a little known problem with this new ACCESS, thought I was getting cutting edge which in some ways it maybe but some of us new bees (and others with Emax products) don’t realize what we’re losing (D8 mode) if we but this mode of QX7... but thanks for the response (I’m now a sub) and I’ve just ordered the QX7S ACCST US model that has D8 (according to Amazon 🤞🏽)

2.2.4 Firmware and bootloader worked perfectly and so did sd contents but no crsf in menu why? just ppm,xjt,dsm2,r9m,sbus

I am stuck. I cannot get the new firmware to my radio., I am getting a USB connection error. I have a new radio but i want to update my X9Lite
when I long hold on the button to flash boot loader it doesn't give me the option to flash it just says copy, rename and delete please help.

xd9 menus are different-not the same-sorry.-Also make sure to disconnect the battery on the X9D when updating firmware!

Today they released the official firmware for the T16. Would this be essentially the same procedure to update from Jumper tx to open tx?

You have a bootloader and the author one. What is what? Why is there a 2 software?
The bootloader is what starts up every time your radio runs, it's what runs the operating system which is OpenTX with out it your radio would not run.

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to, but don't hold me to it. I would just change the receiver in that quad.
