I don’t care what others say or think. I have a few of traxxas’s cars with the BL2s systems and from my own personal experience with them, I really like them. For me, for what they are, they’re just fine. I drive them and blast them around my yard and driveway and after a full battery pack, the ESC’s and motors are barely even warm. At least for me, it matters knowing I won’t overheat or burn up the motor or ESC. Also, not everyone wants RC cars that go 50mph. We all have different tastes when it comes to this hobby. If it makes you smile, buy it. If it doesn’t make you smile, buy something that does. Nice video, man.
I put vxl, center brace, driveshaft . Shimmed body mounts up to fit fans and give a little more room. Thing is an absolute blast. Your gonna love it.. great video sir.
I got this and upgraded it as well.. it is a fantastic buggy. I went nuts with it, though. CC Mamba Monster 2 6s with the 151-2650Kv on an 18T pinion mounted to a Hot Racing aluminum motor mount. Traxxas metal center diff, aluminum center shafter, blue GTR shocks. A PowerHobby 729MBL server, Hot Racking front/rear aluminum bulkheads, Hot Racing aluminum bellcrank and horn. All controlled by my RadioLink RC8X and R4FGMv2.2. I run mostly on 4s. It still rips on 3s and I have tried 6s and...damn it is nuts. The haters can hate. I dont care. I'm thankful I am able to afford however I choose to smile.
Agree with your thoughts. It's a shame the buggy came with the BL-2S, because it overshadows how well the buggy actually handles. But once you get past the electronics, the rest of the buggy actually shines. It's why I made the Jato vs. Syncro4 video -- showing that a Jato with real power is actually as good/fun to drive as the Syncro4.
Brand new subscriber here! Like the video, and I agree 100% on your thoughts and opinions on this buggy.. I almost bought one a couple days before they were actually released but knew I would need to to get a proper power system so I'm waiting on the 4S. And same with you I think the VXL3s with a few upgraded aluminum bits to make it more durable (easy 50mph) would have been the sweet spot for this buggy for its first release. And priced appropriately around $375 to compete with it's competition. Give it a few weeks to release the BL2s version price accordingly at about $285. If the BL2s version was priced accordingly all the hobby shops around me probably would have sold out of these, but being priced at what they are they've only sold one or two. I definitely would have bought one by now and put in the Hobbywing 3150kv 3s system for 90 bucks with some aluminum bits and called it a day.
”It has a TQ..” -CUT! Not a TQI as you mentioned originally when filming, I believe😃 Anyway, love your stuff, it’s informative and down to earth, unlike many others going fully overboard with everything!
What I like about the jato clip less body is it keeps dirt/debris out of the chassis and I'll order another jato body and the clips to use it as a chassis cover for a slash truck
It is a rock solid buggy but the hubs are junk get the aluminum ones, other than that price aside its been great. I run mine on 4s 73 mph and its a blast I did have to add the center diff because I was frying the slipper and put the Syncro4 tires on for speed because these ballon too much for that but are great for backflips
I got one put the vxl system in it and center diff and it ran great. Anyone buying it beware the wheel hubs are junk soft plastic and I stripped one. I’m used to plastics but you want the wheel on tight and it’s way too fine a line so now it sits there waiting for the aluminum hubs to come. Just get them. I’m disappointed it didn’t come with aluminum.
🤔 Everyone would’ve been happier if it had a 3s system and the name of the car was BANDIT 4X4. THEN WOULD’VE been the holiday truck to buy for the hubby. Just my thoughts. 🤷🏽♂️🤯
I am honestly surprised that you even bothered running it without first changing the electronics. Rc cars that require you to fully squeeze the throttle are no fun. I love setting up my cars to only need half throttle and they are flying.
I would say it's probably safe to assume that at least 50% of the hater comments (for any brand) stem from one of two things. Nitpickers who will find any excuse to hate on something/someone they don't like. And jealous people.
Exactly, lots of haters. My buddy brought this to my track with a 3S system and it and it was so fast I could not believe it. He even ran into my driver, stand in mid air and didn’t break anything.👍🏽👍🏽
For the money Typhon all day every day over this. And now Arrma with these V6 revisions it’s kinda game over for Traxxas. The mini Maxx seems to be a big failure to chassis snapping in half left and right and diffs blowing up. And I’m no Traxxas hater but they’re very outta touch when comes to value even more so then ever these days.
I have such high regard for the archetypal 1/8 buggy, that the Jato 4X4 and the Typhon 3S come across as imposters to me. That does not make them bad RC cars per se (I think the Typhon 3S is a good value), they just somewhat dilute the notion of what a 1/8 buggy is. I always like to say that anyone in the RC hobby should or strive to have an 1/8 buggy in their collection, but these do not quite check that box in my opinion.

I wanted the green ones for mine so I was going to wait. But then I thought what if the plastics ones are junk. So I ordered the blue ones when they came into stock. Glad I did.

I would love to hear about your 6s results. I'm about to upgrade my Sledge to 8s and swap the 6s into my Jato
Congratulations you just took all the Traxxas out of it 😂 of course it's good now

I admire your inventory of top quality machines. Love the channel!
Thank you
Cool 😎 you always do a nice job building them better , I have get one of those blowers , I use quiet compressor.
A few little things and the jato is sweet
Excited everytime you upload a new video. I always watch start to finish. Bash on!

Nobody has mentioned that the Jato 4x4 VXL has a new 4s ESC!! It is not the sane as the Maxx. The new 4s ESC has an adjustable BEC... 6.0V to 7 4v.

why a roller version doesn't exist ?

The hubs are on their way. Should have them by the next video.
I love it ❤

Nice is a cool looking buggy ...
Would the wheel nuts fit the Syncro 4?

Why get this vs. the typhon 3s? especially the new one. i really dont care for the body and wing looks as well, but that's personal
Will the wheels from the max slash work on that?
Looks good. If I pull the trigger, I'm going to get the VXL. Gives me some time to🤔 about it.
That’s the smart thing to do. 👍
@@JasonPerrinRCVlogs I'm trying to remember a stock Slash chassis that has a 4S battery mount. Totally agree with 3s setup.
@@ReadySetRC So your last video of the Savage XS was the tipping point for me. Ordered the Vaughn Gittin edition this morning. Along with a Mini Maxx.
Honestly arrma is the better option right now (for me at least )
Gotta remember, Traxxas parts are dirt cheap. That’s the draw for me. Arrma, which I love too, parts are way more pricey.
Looks like a baby asuga , but just cant like a traxxas wouldnt pay the premium for a lesser product compared to competition
Traxxas is good at price gouging this is person looks like a Walmart rc!
This couldn’t hold a candle to even TCs cheapest buggy let alone Asuga….
Check out thunderrc send his raptor and it doesn’t break, so you can see it fly with out having to to do it to yours haha 😂

I’m by no means jealous I’m just not a fan of the jayto or traxxas right now the mini maxx is honestly imo junk and this isn’t good value to me
