Hi Frank. Off-season, so accommodation was a bit cheaper. Bike hire + Flights probably not that far off Portsmouth to Bilbao ferry return with a cabin (although I don't think it runs over winter). Stick on wear and tear on the use of your own bike, and I don't think hiring a bike out is too steep.
