    Hello Kuya Joe, unsa pwede makita na work for students? Also, naa kay ma recommend na di kaayo mahal na apartment near uni? Thank you 😊

      Aloha @katarinamargaritaacebes8420! Kanindot ba sa imung pangalan dzai 😊
      So, if naa kay plano mag attend as University of Hawaii student, fortunately, daghan kaayo ug work options for you. And in my opinion, dili hago ang work. Ma nosebleed lang jud ka usahay, but always ask for help if naa kay dili masabtan. Dili sila judgemental.
      Sa Indo-Pacific Languages & Literatures office, usually naay opening for office job and okay pa sa alright imung mga maka work, most of them mga Pinoy. Pwedi pod ka mag work sa cafeteria, library, gym, or any office sa Uni. Dili sila picky, basta ma meet lang nimo ang minimum requirements, hire dayon ka, walay daghang labad nga process. If international student ka and you need a job, allowed ka to work on campus, within the dates of your program.
      As for the apartment, unfortunately, wala koy ma recommend kay dili kaau ko knowledgeable about ana. But from what I’ve heard, ang rent sa mga dorms, is around $3,000 to $8,000 per semester per person. If dili nimo bet ang dorms, kay usually naa kay kauban sa kwarto and shared ang bathrooms, ang mga apartments outside but near uni is naa sa $1,500 to $3,500 per month.
      What I recommend is mag dorm nalang sa ka at least for the first semester, tapos ayha nalang ka mangita ug dili kayo mahal na apartment near uni pag naa naka diri kay mas daghan kag ma ask. Basig imung mga ma classmate is need ug kauban sa apartment, tunga nalang mo sa rent, depende sa sabot, mas makatipid ka.
      I hope this helps. If naa pa kay mga pangutana about uni life here, feel free to ask lang. 😊

    How well should be able to speak English to be in college?

    • @KuyaJoe
      @KuyaJoe  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello there! It is a great question you have asked. Short answer to your question: if you can communicate (meaning express your opinion and comprehend what other people say), you should be able to get to college in an English-speaking college. In general, to succeed in college, including at the University of Hawaii at Manoa or any other college in an English-speaking country, a strong command of the English language is essential.
      Typically, universities will have specific English language proficiency requirements for admission, and they often offer support for international students to improve their English skills. For instance, at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, there are international students who may not have excellent English communication skills when they first arrive, but they are admitted based on their potential and are continuously encouraged to enhance their English language proficiency.
      If you want to explore the specific English language proficiency requirements and support programs at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, you can find more information at manoa.hawaii.edu/admissions/international/

    Kuya, are you grad or undergrad? If you have tips for intl grad students, pls share! Mahalo from Punahou! 🌺🌈🤙

      Aloha!
      I want to extend a big mahalo for your comment, and I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. Currently, I'm an undergrad student, but I'd love to share some tips that might be helpful for international grad students based on what I've learned and observed.
      First and foremost, connecting with your fellow international graduate students can be incredibly valuable; they can provide support, share experiences, and help you navigate life in Hawaii. Secondly, immersing yourself in the local culture, trying local foods, participating in cultural events, and exploring the area will help you better understand your new surroundings.
      Time management is key in graduate school, so make sure to create a schedule that balances coursework, research, and personal time effectively. If you work, you need to factor that in as well. Utilize university resources, such as counseling, career advice, and academic assistance, as some of them are tailored to international students. The mindset should be to learn as much as you can, not just to get the degree.
      Your journey as an international graduate student is a unique and transformative experience, so embrace the challenges and opportunities that come your way. Perhaps the best advice I could give is to not be afraid to ask for help. The University of Hawaii has lots of resources to help students of all levels. All you have to do is ask for it.
      Once again, mahalo for your comment, and best of luck! 🌺🌈🤙

    Hi po! Ask lng How po ang tuition fee jan? First timer ksi ako dto sa hawaii eh☺️

    • @KuyaJoe
      @KuyaJoe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aloha Ashley! So, the cost of tuition depends on a number of factors. Residents and nonresidents pay different tuition rates.
      If you live in Hawaii for at least a year, you can get in-state, or resident, tuition, which costs $471 per credit if you take fewer than 12 credits. The tuition is $5,652 per semester for full-time resident students who take 12 or more credits.
      Out-of-state or non-resident students have to pay $1,389 per credit if they are taking fewer than 12 credits. The tuition is $16,668 per semester for full-time non-resident students who take 12 or more credits.
      I hope this is useful. Welcome to Hawaii! :)
