I have to admit... after I stopped filming I got an earful... Christine held her composure until I turned off the camera... I was in the dog house for a bit...lol. I am better at plugs but some of the places I hunt are hard. The dirt falls apart. I also remember the bug chase...lol
It's not just any old scoop. Think of the history of that thing and where it's been. Winning it would be like winning Christine Sinclairs soccer jersey! I have been collecting dice since childhood and am coming up to the rim of a large fishbowl full but never found the one you got today. I really liked your towel reveal Bill. My truck towel looks more like an alligator thrashed it. Thanks for another fun watch.
Wow, I have not even thought that collecting dice is a thing... I bet you have some really cool ones. I will miss the scoop but it has been sitting there for so long...may as well give it to someone who can use it. I was thinking I may get a golf towel that I can clip on my side... the grass is so wet at times. Thanks

Thanks... I am not sure if I would use the earbuds... the ones that come with the phone don't stay in so I would probably lose them....lol.
You two are fortunate to be able to still metal detect! All I can do is look at the white stuff, which I realize we desperately need, and dream of days to come.
Looks like a nice scoop. I did go on line some time ago and ordered a nice looking plastic scoop but it turned out that the holes were so small you could hardly get the sand to strain🤔.

Yes, one benefit of being in SoCal... I may go try out the Legend at the beach on Friday for Saturday's video... but sadly if I do, Christine will be working.... It was a great scoop (still is) when I first started... good luck and thank you

Little known fact about pull tabs, they have as much aluminum in them as the rest of the can. I found out recently that there are people that collect the old pull tabs. I went to Cal Gold yesterday to get me a Garrett carrot. My girlfriend started metal detecting two weeks ago and I felt lost without my pin pointer. 😁 Great video, keep up the good work.
That is an interesting fact. I also found out that the RM Foundation takes them vs cans because they are easier to deal with than all those large cans.... Very cool about going to Cal Gold... very nice people there. That is also awesome that you are both out hunting....

Awesome, that sand scoop, would work good here in Vegas for the volley ball courts... Another cool hunt..Bill and Christine, look for the 19, 20,21 numbers on the simplex.. Those are gold numbers and stainless steel ring numbers..29, 30 seems to be nickles.. 31 to 40's range are pull tabs.. 50's range are can slaw, 60 range seems to be zinc pennies and tungsten rings. 72,to75 are dimes, 76 to 79 are copper pennies.. All I find in the 80 range is junk, screw on bottle caps and can slaw. 90 and above are quarters.. Gold can also fall on different numbers, Platinum seems to ring up at 25 on the Simplex Plus.. Numbers can vary some due to soil conditions. These are the number that work here in Vegas.... Your both doing great, keep swingin...

Great hunt but best part was throwing the grub at Christine. She would never make it on fear factor! Hand held scoop would be great.
That was me just doing boy things...but I did get in trouble and had to cut that part of the clip out...lol...
I'd love a sand scoop, the kids plastic small spade takes ages but does draw attention - Not always a good thing. Haha, love watching you two.

Scoop! My digging is not year round as I am in Ontario Canada, but love visiting parks, playgrounds and beaches as long as I can. ❤️🇨🇦

Nice find. Yes, those are US Army Airborne wings (AKA Jump Wings). The proper response when you see those is Hooah! Those are basic paratrooper wings. If they have a star or a star & a wreath on top, they would be Senior & Master wings. You have to be a jump master (like me) to have a star. If they have a bronze star in the middle of the parachute, that indicates the paratrooper made a combat jump. Now you know. Go Army! Beat Navy!
Wow...thanks for the great info... I never jumped but thought about it a couple times... It has to be exciting! I would love to try an ultra light. I see the ones going up and down the beach that have the big fan behind the pilot... that would be a great adventure as well.
@@DigginSoCal You should come down to San Diego and try paragliding. There's a glider port above Blacks beach where I hunt & you can pay for a tandem ride. Christine & I can hunt and film from below while you glide along the cliffs above.

It’s okay Christine, I bought an old house and my yard is full of junk metal, found a couple of coins, but mostly junk, but still fun. We go to Lake Michigan every year and hunt the beaches.

At the 5:57 mark, Cutworms are the caterpillars of a group of moths in the family Noctuidae, a huge group encompassing many species. Cutworm species are often in the genus Xestia but may be in many other genera. Either way, the caterpillars and the moths all look very much alike.
Cutworms eat many plants and get their name from a habit of eating through the stem close to the ground, "cutting down" the entire plant. They generally feed at night and spend the day curled up just below the surface, where you will find them when digging in your garden.
Cutworm moths are brown or gray, reasonably large, and not very noticeable. If you see brown moths milling around your porch light on a warm summer night, the chances are good that they belong to this group.
Very interesting. Thanks for the lesson. I did a little searching today and the little off white ones with the brown heads out in the fields/grass could be either beetle or June Bug larva.... not just treasure and worms underground...

Hey Christine and Bill. Great video and hunt's 👍. Excellent coin count Cha-Ching. The paratrooper wings are awesome. Skydiving is what we love to do. Grubs are high in nutrition a lot more than a cupcake. But likely carry salmonella. They have a nutty flavor when cooked . 😆 Lol . Loved the video. You guys always make our day . Speaking of bugs/creatures…I have dug many thousands of plugs in the turf over the years, unearthing all kinds of creatures underground….the only plug I dug that ever freaked me out contained a strange snake that was the size of a night crawler…I jumped back because this creature was moving/undulating so fast at the bottom of my plug…before I was able to get my digger in there to flip it out of the hole, it burrowed deeper and vanished…I have never unearthed another like it all these years….it was dark, black colored and had shiny skin (but not slimy like a worm). I did a search online and narrowed it down to either a Brahminy Blindsnake or a Western Threadsnake.

Great finds! I was wondering, is that metal lid made of silver? Looks like it could be a lid to a makeup compact possibly. I would check it for silver. You never cease to amaze with the items you find. Love the parachute pin!
