Cage the Elephant, to me, is a rare band which has never released any bad music. Sure, I prefer some songs over others, but I've never disliked any of their songs, all of them are great.

This is gonna sound weird, but I feel like when your listening to the song (with no video) it feels red. It sounds red. The fact that the music video reflects this so wonderfully is so great.

I feel that Cage the Elephant goes underappreciated.
I'm just saying that number could be higher. I respect this band and want to see them grow since I prefer their music over modern pop, and I'm not saying you don't feel the same way. I hold Cage the Elephant and Twenty-One Pilots (just an example) in equal esteem, so I'd hope the former can reach the popularity of the latter. Granted I could be wrong, as I'm only looking at youtube's numbers. On that note, which band do you think someone would recognize if you asked them on the street. That's what I mean when I say their underrated. Not everyone knows about them, and I feel people should. Do you disagree?

What you're suggesting is more of a personal choice, which is up to the band to make. If they want to grow or stay as they are. I support Cage the Elephant in either choice they make, and hope you choose to do the same. I just want one of my favorite bands to get the appreciation they deserve. This is of course subjective and my opinion.
This has nothing to do with what I said, which was (in short): they may do as they wish with their band, I'll continue to support them. Also, on your topic of them being just about the music, have you even seen the video that this comment section is a part of? A lot of hardwork went into creating the visuals, not just the music. Cage the Elephant may, as you claim, focus on their music on stage, but these videos are batshit crazy, which I love. I believe what you meant was they don't pander to general audiences. I haven't heard of any of the sex on stage shenanigans you mentioned, but I will believe some occasions have happened considering new bands starting out. Your points about them not doing crazy things to draw viewers contradicts with your other argument(again my summarization of what I thought you meant) about how they don't pander to general audiences. One wouldn't be able not attract general audiences and not do crazy things that would attract general audiences. I hope you understand what I'm saying and come to agreement. Hard to believe Matt is 35. I saw them live 10 years ago right after their first album dropped in the US. A bunch of 20 something kids going crazy on stage. They've all matured and you can hear it in the music. Time flies.

Almost 10 years ago, I saw Cage the Elephant in West Palm Beach at Buzz Bake Sale... fast forward 10 years, I was lucky to be part of their tour with Beck and saw them a few days ago in Tampa. They've come such long way, to become one of the greatest rock n roll bands ever.... In my opinion ❤ I'm honored to have been part of the group's growth and healing through this tour even if n some minor, indirect way. These guys have been through so much over the past few years, a lot of pain, grief and loss... Yet they kept going. They're inspiring.

There's so much pain in these lyrics and truth behind them. I think it's so important to be authentic and Cage the Elephant has always been that. I get goosebumps listening to these songs because I feel Matt's pain, he's an amazing artist and performer. He might be inspired by Jagger, but he truly is his own person

I follow Matt and Juliette on instagram and I have noticed that they're never in pictures together anymore. I was sad when I heard that they were getting a divorce. Out of pain comes amazing art, however, and I'm interested in hearing the other tracks. I've seen Cage a few times live and I've been a fan for most of their career. It is so cool to see how they have evolved. They never let me down!

Well, I disagree. I think the first CTE albums had a punky, indie style. Melophobia was awesome but a bit different from those other two. Finally, Tell me I'm pretty sounded more like The Black Keys.

Oh my fucking life, I just discovered this son while I was doing some mechanical work on my writing. I'm shocked, this song put me out of the sleepiness and made me shed in tears. It represents a lot of the things I'm emotionally struggling with Venezuela, my country... so much beauty in the people and the places, but also so much destruction, pain, grieving and violence. It hit hard on me... I've never put much attention on this band, but I'm just so shocked that I'm sure that anything I get to listen from them will be of my favorite from now on.
God damn I can't even listen to another fucking song, it was so amazing and moving that any sound is just crap next to this.
The lyrics are super deep. The fall of Pompeii is a metaphor for the end of a relationship. It was lightning fast, freezing people in lava. They turned into statues, reflecting what they were doing for eternity. All their secrets revealed forever. I guess the song speaks also of inevitability and determinism. “Nonsense trying to change the past”. We should just learn to let go and accept our ephemeral existence, not looking back. The video clearly has a touch of profanity. I guess, sodom and Gomorrah. Also a statue of salt for those who insist on to dwell on the past.

Cage the elephant since 2008 is one of my favorite bands
I have been a fan of Cage the Elephant since they first broke out. Since then my musical tastes have shifted towards lesser known music, but Cage music has remained relevant to me. This band’s style has really matured over the years.

I've been listening to cage the elephant for a while, but all I gotta say is every so often a band and a song comes through at just the right time in your life. This is one of those for me. Go through a horrendously shitty break up, and live the recourse that follows a year later, and this song and the music video makes perfect fucking sense. Hats off to this one boys
