Ryan searched for KCI with goblin engineer and cam had a Oppo agent in play LOL. I think Cam and the table was so spaced out on how dead they were so it’s understandable
Heyo! I went to school with Ryan XD whatup! Also, you played Opposition Agent and then let Rhan tutor with Goblin Engineer :P but he didn't need the KCI anyway. Very cool game!
Fantastic video, great job to Ryan on his first game of cEDH with a cool deck. I did wanna mention though that you guys did actually miss an Aetherflux Reservoir trigger, even after the correction on the amount of life he should have gained from the engineer. 14:00 Ryan casts Aetherflux, then casts Ashnoid's Altar, then casts Goblin Engineer, goblin engineer was his 6th spell, but should have also gained 5 from the altar. No hate towards you guys or Ryan, he obviously had a ton going on on his board and it was his first game so i completely understand missing the trigger. Congrats on the win TRONISBAD
4:15 Ryan missed a couple things on his turn here, scrap trawler returns to hand, not battlefield so he would have had to recast the opal first (which wouldn't be a big deal, but it would have been one more fish trigger for Cam), and he missed the untap trigger for grinding station for the mox opal itself entering the battlefield, once again probably wouldn't have changed much (he probably wouldn't have activated the grinding station again then to begin with) just something I noticed. Absolutely crazy that this and the one Dylan pointed out seem to be the only mistakes he made in his first ever game of CEDH!
@@tronisbad Yeah man, part of what makes Magic so fun, there's always stuff to learn from/optimize, and things like that are hard to catch unless you do something like record it and run things back play-by-play 😂 Even playing a lot of Magic, it's still impressive to see, CEDH has a tendency to turn one spell-cast into 13 triggers and 4 responses, tracking it reliably isn't easy 😆
That was a crazy game, love seeing new commander's go crazy. I know he didn't get to play daretti at all, but seeing completely different cards from the normal go crazy was awesome.
The Daretti deck was so sweet! I also love that the three banned cards were actually not really relevant here and Ryan won the game regardless of those cards (yes tech the 0 mana to cast Crypt and Lotus were relavant but the Mana from those cards didn't really end up being relevant). I play Lobelia, Defender which is pretty much the exact same deck but in mono black instead, Ill need to compare our lists to see how different they really are.
a buddy of mine built a tana reyhan deck post ban sort of aristocrat style, and unintentionally built a super strong deck in our pod, the deck is sitting at an over 40% wr in our pod of 20
I played a very similar Daretti list to Ryan's list against him at MagicCon Minneapolis 2022! Hope I was a small inspiration behind it :) [we were playing all mono/colorless commanders]
Actually, T1 Drannith starts are going to stay almost exactly the same because we still have like 5 other 0 mana rocks I the format that work on T1 AND Gemstone Caverns. If anything, I'm a little bit annoyed that now 3cmc commanders automatically have to play as if they are 5 or 6 mana because having Drannith in the first 2-3 turns is SUCH a powerful way to blow them out. Without Lotus and Crypt, really the only people who *actually* suffer are the turbo decks that don't play Rograkh ._. Edit Post Game: Wow, I never thought anyone would have the balls to activate Grinding Station just to target an opponent when their list runs Breach lines... Excellent game though. You can really see Ryan's experience with modern and legacy shine here - using Karn to return the Aetherflux that was exiled with specifically a Force of Negation is an incredibly Spikey play from the tournament grind-set. People in cEDH forget minor details like this all the time because singleton formats rarely see the same pieces more than once per game. But a little bit of familiarity and repetition goes a long way when you play powerful magic cards.
@tronisbad Haha, no problem, man! I'm glad that I got to see you play! I'll be paying more attention to Karn in future cEDH games from now on for sure! Lol, as for Tron, I used to get absolutely MUSHED by U-Tron a few years back 😂😂 it's definitely the kind of deck that makes me groan as soon as I see an Urza land on the first turn 💀
I must say, this game was a lot of fun, but was a perfect display of many bad "cards" we have in the format, and many good cards that we have not. Dockside being a ritual for the storm player, and a punisher after the storm turn went wrong to maybe make another player catch up and flip a win, is a lot of fun. I'll miss these moments a lot. Bowmasters hitting the player that isn't drawing, is a bad play pattern. A player drew 14 cards in a single turn and basically Bowmasters wiped the board for the rest hitting just the Birgi. Not a great card design sadly. It's very good 1v1, but in cEDH I believe it's atrocious.
I decided to get into cedh and play tounments. i can't decide on a deck tho. what are some good decks for beginners to cedh but not to magic with the new bans?
Seems to me like these bans will only serve to make dimir stronger by making strategies centered around high cmc commanders less viable while consult thoracle continues to dominate.

i would love to see a casual EDH game with "Commander Baumi" for now he only has 1 Video on his channel but has multiple, non magic channels and he plans to focus a lot on his MTG channel (:
Crypt: "Was I a good mana rock?" "No. You were a degenerate combo piece in a format where 1.5 life a turn on average never mattered. You belong in Vintage."
Im suprised no one mentions that the play at 13:45 is illegal, since M10 rules overhaul exile is no longer considered an "outside the game" its in game zone, and thus cards like fay of wishes or karn cant pull card that is in exile with their "card outside of the game" ability
