I love this idea. My question is did you try to fluff the washed milkweed tester square in the dryer before you opened it up? Maybe it would fluff back up if you dried it fully in the dryer? Also if you use wool on the outside of the bag it could potentially become more non flammable. You could even make a woolen “over bag that could be laundered separately based on wool’s specific washing instructions and that would protect the inner bag from burning. This could also double the insulative powers of the original bag in really cold weather.
I just air dried it. It’s possible that it would fluff back up in the dryer I need to experiment with it some more. More and thicker fabric would definitely help make it more fiber proof.
I am curious, if it would be risk of decaying like mold or mildew if it gotten wet. It seems like it retains the moisture by how much it bunched to the corner. It would be nearly impossible to get it completely dry in a bag if it was rained on or if it had snow that melted and got in the fabric.
@@TrekSquadWith other sorts of fiber fluff, you put it in the clothes dryer and also put in a tennis shoe or those dryer balls to keep massaging it as it dries. Then it doesn't clump so much.
Honestly, I think you’d be find to run it through the wash if you quilted the fabric a bit more with a few more passes of the sewing machine. Completely understandable that that would be more than a bit labor intensive tho.
Dude is like “let’s cut it open” and breaks out an axe, this is my kind of channel
Good luck with your sons love seeing the adventures sir
Thanks you sir!
You can use non flammable fabric on your sleeping bag.
I suggest sending it to my outdoor life Chanel and have it tasted it seems a great idea
This is awesome, nice work. Where can I get seeds to plant my own?

Give us a tour of the wilderness near you
Thanks for the idea!
Would cattails would?
What about the packability of the bag? Can you pack it down in a stuff sack and see if it pops back?

Maybe try using a hydrophobic spray for fabrics on the cloth that holds the milkweed?
Great question. It would be hard to get fully dry if it got wet. I’ve considered scotch guard spray to protect it.

Do you know the weight of the milkweed fill was ?
Would be awesome to see how it works in a jacket
I’ve wanted to try the same thing as well!
Maybe you could make little pouches and use it as fire starters
I actually already do that. You just use the little boats that the milk weed floss grows in and add some wax. It’s a great fire starter!
u can use it as emergency fire starter

Love form india brother 😊
there are different kinds of milkweed, which one did you find and use ?
Looked like he used Asclepius syriaca, common milkweed. It grows very happily here in Pennsylvania, and clearly grows happily where he is as well.
If you werent using sheets it would be way warmer i feel like.
Put it in the dryer with tennis balls
man try to clean and sell the seeds
