Wasn't there a movie of trucks that were possessed or something and would run over people? I vaguely remember people were trapped in a diner/gas station and if they went outside, they would be run over? Edit: I think I found it. It's called Maximum Over drive (1986)
I think they should make a Micheal Myers Halloween game in that neighborhood setting.. where you have objectives and to eventually escape town while Michaels stalking you and chasing you from house to house! Would be freaking great!
Most places don't really have ice cream trucks. But we had them on one of our military bases when I was a kid. That music always caused such excitement. All the kids and parents scurrying and scrounging up their change and sending the kids. My parents always sent us to buy stuff... we didn't have to worry about psychos and serial killers as much in my day 😅
I did some Google-fu when editing the video and seems they were at their height of popularity and prevalence 80s to mid 90s. They were super common in the neighborhoods I lived in until middle school. Granted they were very low income areas.
This game kinda reminds me of a show, I can’t remember what it’s called but it’s similar to Goosebumps. But kinda reminds of one of the episodes where there’s this kid sees this ice cream truck and it offers him ice cream and then this kid desperately wants more of it and tries to find it as it’s also teasing him every day and night, even too the point where other ice cream doesn’t like anything, and then the truck finally lets him get close and he discovers a kid that went missing, relating to the ice cream truck and finds he’s been trapped in there for a long time cause it runs on a soul and the kid ends up being the next trapped soul with the only thing he can eat is ice cream forever. It kinda seems like there’s some slight inspiration maybe. But I can’t remember what the show was called. It was very creepy with what episodes I watched.
I really do have such fond memories of Ice Cream trucks as a kid. Now, I'm pretty sure I'm going to have nightmare that's a hybrid of childhood memories and this game lmao.
First Choo Choo Charlie and now Waffle Cone Willie. What's next Wrecking Ball Bob? You stumble into an abandoned construction sight where the flattened bodies of the workers are littered everywhere all because a sentient wrecking ball
Yeah the possessed inanimate object or even vehicle idea goes back quite far. The 70s and 80s had several movies like Maximum Overdrive with this theme. Seems like games are catching up now.
I live in Gainesville and a few years ago there was an actual ice cream truck in our neighborhood with the theme too, and I thought it was obscure to see because you dont normally see them nowadays, how simple times use to be.
I like the ambience and the safety of the houses. But I think they need to make a balance pass of some kind. Maybe make the monster patrol a little more quickly and spread out the houses more to increase your chances of being chased. Maybe he can ram through windows/doors if you're not careful or he gets some kind of ranged attack. Idk
It's a similar jingle for sure. Not exactly the same. I think in one of our first Lethal Company episodes IGP, Drae, and remarked how the shop delivery sounds like an Ice Cream Truck.
Aaaa. Where I live ice cream trucks are not in existance for over 15 years and I can't remember the jingle haha (I think it was called family frost), and yes some streets end in someone's back or front yard like in this game 🤣 I hate when I drive by sense and have to back up because there is literally no space to do a turn. Americans are so lucky with wide roads and streets
Straight across the street in the window of the upper floor of the house over there. My gamma adjustment from editing because the game was so dark may have killed the redness some.
Can wait for the full release, this game has such potential. I have always found ice cream trucks and their jingles creepy, so perfect nightmare fuel for me for October. Thanks for the awesome vod skilly keep the screams coming
Everything was going well until 3 seconds in because for some reason my phone volume randomly gone up and it scared me, I went to be scared of the video XD
Cul de sac is definitely a word outside of the USA as it isn’t an American, or even English, word. 😂 It’s French and literally means the bottom of a bag but is used as the basic end of a street now. Love watching your vids because your screams when scared justify my own while watching!! Haha!
Yeah but English is a cobbled together language that borrows words and phrases from numerous other languages. Many of which are no longer used in their original language. For example Pajamas comes via Urdu from Persian. I don't know French lol. Thanks for watching.
They really missed the chance to play the jingle constantly (not the van showing up) but to add tp the constan threat. Like it plays nonstop near the end.
Yeah it could have been used more. Got to find the right balance though. Constantly playing and I think some people would just get too annoyed and quit.
@SkillyMcFilly I mean when you're closer to the end game. Like a constant threat that could appear but doesn't until... jumpscare! Because it'll feel like he's always around, but when you least expect it, he appears.
Good god man, what freaking FOV are you using? I can't see a damn thing your supposedly seeing when the FOV is so high that you see the world like a fly does.
lmao I had the game's FOV slider to max which was 90. I need to be able to see it all to know when the threats are coming. You got to get better eyes my dude. Glasses changed my life.
Gnome Chomsky! Ha! The gnomes, they gnow! Hope you play this in full when it comes out. BTW, as a British person, I want to hear more Americans using the phrase "taking the piss". 😄
I actually never got to experience these types of ice cream trucks as a child because of where i lived at as a child we didn't have them around anywhere instead the closest thing we had were trucks from a food/ice cream company called Schwan's which still exist today btw and unfortunately they didn't and still don't sell ice cream individually like the other kind of ice cream trucks did and Schwan's were and still are super expensive unfortunately oh yeah and i don't know if anyone noticed this or not but in this game the twin girls were references to The Shining and the little red and black and orange rugs were also The Shining references
There has been a resurgence in 70s and 80s horror movies being turned into video games like Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc.
Potato Tomato?! Whatever law it's against I'm just pretty certain legally, morally, and ethically you shouldn't being entering other people's homes without their permission lol.
The fewer sylables the quicker it can be said and with most critters fast communication is usully seen as sign of distress which is why we use shorter words/names for dangeous stuff, i also could be completly full if $hit
This is feels like déjà vu, on FB someone posted about hearing ice cream trucks at night, and I think Mr Whippy played where I am (She's in the US and I'm in Australia).
I am a bit of a Bible nerd so the fact that it's a relic of St Michael is pretty cool, thematically. "Saint Michael lead the angelic forces against Satan to expel him and his followers from heaven (Revelation 12:7-9). In his hand are the scales with which he weighs the souls of the dead so that they can be consigned to heaven or hell."
I grew up with a very Christian Baptist Mom. Pretty familiar with the Bible too. Revelation is one hell of a trip and book in the Bible. I always thought a horror based on it would be insane.
lmao yeah it’s just an inside joke for the channel from a collab video with IGP. A game used G for the flashlight button instead of F. IGP was like what the hell? I said makes perfect sense gashlight.
When you feel you have to explain a running gag because it's been awhile since the origin 🤣🤣🤣 One of these days you'll find a game where the dev has actually called it a Gashlight, there's also an alternative universe where it was H and not G used for the touch aka a flashlight for people from MERICA!

Wasn't there a movie of trucks that were possessed or something and would run over people? I vaguely remember people were trapped in a diner/gas station and if they went outside, they would be run over?
Edit: I think I found it. It's called Maximum Over drive (1986)
Yeah it was maximum overdrive I love that movie
Yes! It had Emilio Estevez and King made a guest appearance. I use to watch that movie some late at night on USA network!
It is called maximum over drive
48 Fairview with the carpet from The Shining. Nice touch dev👌🏼
I’ve never seen The Shining so had no idea until the comments 😂.
I think they should make a Micheal Myers Halloween game in that neighborhood setting.. where you have objectives and to eventually escape town while Michaels stalking you and chasing you from house to house! Would be freaking great!
I'm surprised that a game based on the Halloween movie franchise doesn't already exist.
@@SkillyMcFilly Yeah, I think they've gone the way of Barber shops at this point. Technically, still exist but in very few locations.
It’s really amazing to see nearly 10k views on a video released no more than a day ago. Happy for you skills
Thank you, pretty surreal to see that for me too!
That’s a wild ride and never heard of that show before. Man we got to find it now lol. Thanks for watching.
The show was "R.L Stine's The Haunting Hour" episode was called Catching Cold. 🫡
@@wendtealitt1258 yoooo thank u! I haven’t seen this in like 6 years, imma have to watch this again.
@@grahamcrackergaming1540 You're welcome, I literally just started rewatching episodes of it here on TH-cam I can't believe I had forgotten about it😁
Massive bathrooms with no toilet bath or shower are terrifying. 😂 love the vids skilly
Awesome, thanks for watching. I don’t like it when things are out of place or don’t make sense.
The Ninja Turtle ice cream bars looked nothing like them, but they were delicious. Nostalgia
lmao they looked like bizarro versions of the turtles. My kids just had the SpongeBob ones the other day. He looked like a nightmare 🤣.
Anybody remember the movie with all the big rigs coming to life? Gives Maximum Overdrive vibes. 😂
Yurp, based on the Stephen King short story "Trucks". They don't make them like those 80s movies anymore.
the sketchier the truck the better the ice cream
You know you’re not wrong lmao.
@@Justadonkey gimme that extra chunky strawberry ice cream
Well a new fear has been unlocked: neighborhood ice cream trucks. Thanks a lot, Willie 😂
Don't give them ideas.😂
Don't forget football fred.😂
Or monster truck steve.😂
Yeah the possessed inanimate object or even vehicle idea goes back quite far. The 70s and 80s had several movies like Maximum Overdrive with this theme. Seems like games are catching up now.
19:09 Man, the music getting louder as you read this makes it more scary and funny! 😂
lmao, don't tell anyone 😂 but I might have played around with that audio there in editing some. Got to spice up the note reading.
@SkillyMcFilly don't worry, pal, and keep up the great videos 👍
I live in Gainesville and a few years ago there was an actual ice cream truck in our neighborhood with the theme too, and I thought it was obscure to see because you dont normally see them nowadays, how simple times use to be.
Ice Cream Trucks were a regular part of my summers. Crazy to think my kids probably won’t get that experience.
This game know most people can’t sprint beyond 25 yards😂
It's typical horror game character running. I swear everyone Indie Horror game's main character can't run further than 10 yards.
Idk
Yeah there definitely could be some balancing done. Good news this is just a demo and the full release might be different.
You were so close to being caught a few time... Heart in my chest with this one lol
Yeah this one is going to be crazy on full release. The being chased aspect will be heart in my chest pounding for sure lmao!
I heard that ice cream jingle coming from the other room in my house then i realised it was the noise the dryer makes when finished!
My dryer has a start and finish noise jingle too. It's not this though but still kind of spooky.
Skilly, you're such a genuine guy. Keep it up.
Thanks for the kind words. I just try to be true to myself and if people vibe with that awesome.
Love all 'The Shining' references
I missed them all because I haven't seen The Shining. I'm a newbie to horror entertainment!
The game has good atmosphere. I enjoyed your video. You should play the full version.
Thanks and glad to hear you liked the video. I will definitely be playing the full game when it releases!
19:06 is that the sound when items are coming in lethal company? 😂
And also keep up the grind, your videos are the best 😊
Keep the uploads consistent like this, and you will gain some traction👌
lmao I mean I’ve been uploading 6 pieces of content a week for 6 months now. 3 edited videos and 3 live streams a week.
@@SkillyMcFilly you have the chutzpah to be bigger, and I'm rooting for that outcome.
I saw a possessed ice cream truck, and first thought that came to mind was the movie overdrive 😂😂😂😂
That seems to be the consensus among the comments lol. I didn't realize how popular that movie was 😂.
"is this gonna end with waffle cone willy in my face" lol
lmao out of context that’s a hell of a quote.
10:31 what red demon eyes? I even slowed the vid down and saw nothing there, lol
Straight across the street in the window of the upper floor of the house over there. My gamma adjustment from editing because the game was so dark may have killed the redness some.
@@SkillyMcFilly Yeah just re watched it and definitely can't see any red in those windows now, just get that sound cue that something happened
Its like Sweet Tooth morph with his Ice cream truck
from Twisted Metal
Yes, the ice cream is reminiscent of Sweet Tooth. Thanks for watching.
Can wait for the full release, this game has such potential. I have always found ice cream trucks and their jingles creepy, so perfect nightmare fuel for me for October. Thanks for the awesome vod skilly keep the screams coming
Agreed, it feels like it’s going to be an awesome release! Thanks for the continued support Kerri!
20:57 Skilly: Why did everything go demonic?
Ummm Child stealing ice cream van might do it 😂
I just didn’t expect the demons to be in on it with him too. Those opportunistic devils.
Omg I love you for knowing “Banana Phone” LoL
I spent way too much time on ebaumsworld and watching flash animations back in the day lol.
Everything was going well until 3 seconds in because for some reason my phone volume randomly gone up and it scared me, I went to be scared of the video XD
Waffle Cone Willie Possessed your phone. Now he’s going to get ya. Stay safe and away from Ice Cream.
Wow for a demo this game looks amazing I can't wait for the full version to come out next month I hope you will be playing it for the channel
I plan to play the full release as part of my Skilly's Spooktober for sure!
Seems like the game would benefit from having Willie home in on your flashlight if you aim it out an open door or window.
I'm bet that in the full release Willie's even more aggressive and has some tricks we didn't see in the demo.
Ahhh so good to be back from my trip so i can binge watch skilly vids and streams
Welcome back. Hope you had a good one and thanks for watching.
It's a summer-themed horror game. Love it!! It's creepy and terrifying.
Imagine having him on some different summer themed maps like a beach boardwalk?!
@@SkillyMcFilly there aren't nearly enough good summer themed horror games, and different map options for this would be amazing
Gnome Chomsky! Ha! The gnomes, they gnow! Hope you play this in full when it comes out. BTW, as a British person, I want to hear more Americans using the phrase "taking the piss". 😄
I've co-opted "taking the piss" into my regular phrases! I like how it sounds and fits so many situations perfectly.
I will never look at an ice cream truck the same again 😳
Same, new fear unlocked. Although that Ice Cream Truck jingle has always haunted me.
Game looks good and love your commentary lol!
Thanks, glad to hear you enjoyed the video. Appreciate the support!
8:51 mfw she when she does the where she when
This message is scarier to read than her eye blink.
40:05 i literally said "Jesus Christ!!" at the exact same time as you 😂
That ghost girl was loud as hell so I don't blame you lol. Thanks for watching.
Oh look it's Sweet Tooth.
Prior to Sweet Tooth tons of 70s and 80s movies did the possessed vehicle thing.
40:40 that scream lmao ! Awesome :D
lmao thanks, I hate being chased so it really brings out the fear and screams in me.
Nice, I didn’t catch The Shining references. I’ve never seen it. A cardinal horror sin I need to fix lmao. Thanks for watching.
Choo Choo Charlies's cousin prefers the suburbs, after all.
Can’t sell Ice Cream in the train tracks as train hobos ain’t got the money.
@@SkillyMcFilly 😂😂😭😭😭😭
20:52 i thought there is a burning clown head on top of the ice cream truck
Not sure, I thought it was an ice cream cone with some illumination but hard to tell.
Did you know that sweetwater is an actual town that's made in 1881 but that's what I just researched right now
Yup, a couple of comments have mentioned that. Interesting because usually games stay away from naming their towns after real places.
I think there's an "ice cream man" horror game and now an "ice cream truck" horror game?
What’s the ice cream man’s horror game? Never seen it before. Thanks for watching.
Tell me a survival horror game based on Maximum Overdrive wouldn't do absolute ridiculous numbers. I dare ya lol
There has been a resurgence in 70s and 80s horror movies being turned into video games like Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc.
@@SkillyMcFilly Wait. Killer Klowns from Outerspace is a game now? Have you done a playthrough?
thank you for clarifying, ive been wondering why "Gashlight"
lmao, yeah it’s all a reference to a dumb joke a made in a video with IGP when a game had flashlight set to G.
Simple started with the whole genre of horror. It works with the narrative and atmosphere to build up.
Also 11:12, the shining movie Easter egg.
Yeah, I’ve never seen the shining so the Easter egg flew over my head!
Is it breaking in if you have the key? Trespassing yeah but not sure about breaking and entering 😂
That's a good theory. The comments have provided a few different theories and it's probably a mix of them all.
This is feels like déjà vu, on FB someone posted about hearing ice cream trucks at night, and I think Mr Whippy played where I am (She's in the US and I'm in Australia).
Crazy coincidence or we live in the Matrix!
@@SkillyMcFilly Maybe, or that there's something beyond the Matrix.
This kinda sounds like sweet tooth from twisted metal in a way. Which is interesting, plus the gameplay looks really fun.
I can definitely see that the dev took some inspiration from Twisted Metal plus all the 70s and 80s possessed car movies.
Its like in chucky he's a serial killer then turns into a doll but different constant
Both inanimate objects brought to life by killers spirits. Thanks for watching.
Hell yeah Skilly!!!!! Ice cream truck serial killer? that sounds crazy!!
I know right?! Such a fun idea for an indie survival horror game. Enjoy the video dude!
saw the thumbnail and immediately thought the movie Maximum Overdrive meets Twisted Metal game
That’s the heavy consensus among the comments for sure. Thanks for watching.
I played this game on PC and it's really terrifying and when you hear that jingle from the ice cream truck runnnnnnnnnnn
Agreed and awesome, I'm eagerly waiting for the full release!
These games with machines with humanoid features is awesome. Hope more come out
There definitely appears to a new genre in this vain starting for indie horror games.
After watching your VODs for a while, I really thought gashlight was a thing until I googled it 😂
lmao yeah it’s just an inside joke for the channel from a collab video with IGP. A game used G for the flashlight button instead of F. IGP was like what the hell? I said makes perfect sense gashlight.
So, who'd win Willie or Goblin Face truck from Maximum Overdrive?
I think Willie's got the mouth to gobble ole Goblin right up.
When you feel you have to explain a running gag because it's been awhile since the origin 🤣🤣🤣 One of these days you'll find a game where the dev has actually called it a Gashlight, there's also an alternative universe where it was H and not G used for the touch aka a flashlight for people from MERICA!
lmao, sometimes I worry people just think I’m a complete idiot. I mean I’m dumb but I see a lot of dad jokes fly over people’s heads.
@@SkillyMcFilly at the risk of sounding old, I don't think gen z have been taught word play in the same way millennials have. Jim Carey wasn't Ass-king questions for awhile (partly because Ace Ventura, was abit problematic), but media just kinda shifted quite a bit, and it wasn't a humor that was used as much.
I have seen roads that dead end into houses. I can’t remember what state it was though because it was like 25 years ago.
I honestly have never seen that before. I road tripped from east to west coast one time too. Granted we didn't drive into neighbors really when doing that lol. Looked super weird to me lol.
@@SkillyMcFilly it’s usually only in real small towns. I moved around a lot as a kid and we lived in a a lot of different small towns in OH,KY and TN. I saw it in one of the towns in either TN or KY, don’t recall which, like I said we moved a lot. It is weird and annoying because you have people coming and turning around in your driveway. My road dead ends into my house now as well but my house is by itself and not part of a cul-de-sac or neighborhood.
