- While the weather might be getting warm that doesn’t mean the water is!
Coast Guard members in the New York City area have put together a video explaining the dangers of cold water immersion for #coldwater Safety Awareness Week. They are working to show YOU how important it is to prepare for colder water temps when you're out boating.

I'm so ready
I jumped off the End of the small pier at Folkestone harbour in the summer, and tried to swim to the sandy beach in rough seas, I must of been in the water a few mins while swimming, I felt instantly exhausted, I knew I wasn’t gonna make it, I had to wait for the wave to go up against the rocks of the pier, then hold on to the rocks for dear life, with every bit of strength I had, I held on, as the wave lowered the power pulling on me was immense, I managed to hold on, and then I climb up onto the pier, before the next wave came to knock me off, luckily i timed it right, once on the pier, I laid on the floor shivering, for ages 20 + mins, My throat muscles tense and trying to breathe whilst, uncontrollable shivering, I consider myself lucky to be alive 👍
A friend of mine died last month from this falling off a paddle board in 62 degree water, he was calling to his gf saying he can’t make it back to the board and then looked at her before he waved his hands and went under. RIP Otis you’ll be missed 🕊️
Does this apply to ice baths and cold showers?

I fell into 0 degree Celsius ocean water for approximately 15 minutes before I was rescued and brought back to shore. I was wearing winter clothes, jacket, boots but did have on survival gear. I am experiencing extreme pain in my legs, stomach, arms and hands. My legs in particular are much weaker than before the fall and are now covered in varicose veins. My fingers are numb. My spine hurts. Is it possible to have nerve damage from this awful experience? It happened about a month ago. How long before these symptoms go away or are permanent?
We recommend you talk to a doctor about that.
(word/words omitted in last line of description?)
Permanent shrinkage...
What are the temperatures in non American?
Roughly around 20°C for surface and 5°C for water
