That might be the average salary for Japanese but not for foreigners in Japan. The average salary for a foreigner without any special skills (English teacher or factory worker) is between 2.8m and 3m a year. There is no way that 280,000 is the average, just search Gaijinpot. Even ALTs in school only get about 250,000 a month and usually get no or a partial salary in the summer. It hasn’t changed since the 90s. It might be possible for a single person but if you have a family, it’s definitely not enough. In the 90s, the idea was to come to Japan for a year and save a lot of money. That’s not possible anymore. Much like many videos, it’s glorifying Japan.
How can I apply I’m interested in working as an English teacher in Japan . I’m presently working in as an English teacher in Thailand 🇹🇭 can I get a direct employment?
@@wendymagaspark4339Yes! Must have 1st degree. Then study for free and get your TEFL certificate from Teacher's Record and start applying on Gaijinpot. All the best!
Thanks for slapping me in the face with reality. I've taught in Korea, Taiwan, and China. I was toying with the idea of trying Japan, but it doesn't look like I'd save much, if anything. I work at a high school in a third-tier Chinese city, but my salary is good. After taxes, it's the same as 536,000 yen a month. (Plus, I get a housing stipend that pays for 80% of my rent.) I appreciate your feedback. There are too many videos about Japan that look at life there with rose-colored glasses.
That’s morethan enough. My salary monthly 300,000¥ to 320,000¥ as a leader in our logistic company. Minus tax/shakai hoken 50,000¥ to 53,000¥ so net of 250,000¥ to 270,000¥
I talked to one Japanese Salarymen at a bar about to USA salary converted to Yen. Its a hair over 20 million Yen in Tokyo and that would put me in the 1% in Tokyo.
Thanks for wonderful video and really good information. Specially such a clear English and super high quality video. Wish you both sweet young girls all the best. Looking forward to learn more. Be honest i thought cost of living is lot more than in usa and canada. Surprised lol
Also if you have a low income or no income you can often get subsidies during summer and winter from your city. This is especially helpful if you are a student, since often your income will qualify for this!
Tbf prices are also alot cheaper which makes it pretty even with the US if you plan on only living in Japan but moving out of the country is a different story 🥲

And use cellular data like UQ, Ymobile or Rakuten mobile. They’re x3 cheaper than major cellular companies like Au, Softbank or docomo
any disadvantages to using the cheaper?
@ some areas signal isn’t that good but youtube still watchable 480p. And when run out of data speed very slow compared to au softbank docomo

What are these ideas? For a person living in poverty?
So you have 1520 usd after tax? Thought you could make more $ there

is this the "die with 0" thing
4.58 million yen is only $30.6k. I never thought Japan is such a low income nation.
Tbf prices are also alot cheaper which makes it pretty even with the US if you plan on only living in Japan but moving out of the country is a different story 🥲
Great knowledge 🎉❤
4.5M is pretty decent, you can live on 3M easily
Great video and amazing production quality team!
