Started off well, but then the camera angles and hands hid several points I needed. well done.

Good video, regardless of what anyone else might say. I know first hand shooting, instructing, talking, and repairing..all at the same time is not easy. Great job. More of these would be welcome!!!

I have a Pioneer dual well that needs this same procedure. I've been putting this off, but now you have me inspired!

Cheers! Just ordered a belt kit for my CT-W350R and will be using this video to compare.

A thanks for this vid which has enabled me to successfully replace the belts in my 30 year old CT-W802R cassette deck. Only thing I would mention having bought a belt kit online, the kits are sold as coming with two flat belts and four square belts. I assumed the 4 square belts were the same size, they are not. You get two different sizes and each deck takes 1 small and 1 large belt. I found this out when getting to the second deck and having 2 belts that seemed to be too big. Got there in the end so thanks again.

Great video. Really needs to stress the importance of re-calibrating speak once belts are replace.

THANK YOU very much for making this video. I have an Optimus SCT-52 (Radio Shack) that is pretty old but had very little use. I wanted to sort through hundreds of old cassettes, many with no labels, etc. and found my deck wouldn't work at all. The belts were pretty much totally melted so I couldn't tell the path of the belts. I couldn't find a cross-reference for the belts or any info on the mechanism. After searching for hours I found your video. I'm sure my Optimus deck is made by Pioneer as the transports look identical to the ones in your video. Now I can be sure I can get replace the belts correctly on first try. Thanks again.

I have the same SCT-52 and everything looks identical to the one in the video. How did your repair go? Where did you get belts?

@@popbumper Due to overwhelming personal responsibilities the deck is still disassembled. I had found what I believe were exact replacements on Ebay but never ordered them. They were sold individually at around $7 each. Ebay sells packages of 50 plus belts real cheap but no guarantee the right belts would be included.

@@Rational20 you could also put the machine back together and sell it if one year later is still open - from my experience you're gonna lose the screws or it will be difficult to remember where everything goes - or you can sell it disassembled to spare your time and buy another cassette player maybe a cheaper one just to sort out those cassettes - as for the belts you can order a package and see if any of those will fit - if not you can resell them

I have a pioneer w510. It seems there are 5 belts for it. What could the fifth one be for? Inside there is no trace of belts, everything melted.

This is the best video I've watched so far on this topic, thank you!
Any idea roughly how much the ct-w802r model sells for? I just inherited a used one, with a functioning belt/no repairs needed. Not sure if there is much demand for tape players but I know pioneer is a well respected brand with great quality.

Thank you very much young man! I've changed them on Teac's to Nak's and sony but for some reason, probably age I needed to see it done before tackling this deck. Hopefully it's the same orientation as the the ct-w603rs

I've watched several of your videos now on cassette deck belt replacements and I'm curious as to why, since you have the units apart, you don't clean or oil anything? It seems like it would be an ideal time to lubricate any parts that have friction.

You can explain to him what to do and what to use for that as maybe he's not familiar with the process - I would be interested in that for sure

Can you write the dimensions of the belts that you installed to replace the faulty ones?

Min 5:50 when you put the belt on those 2 catchers we can't see that - I know it's difficult to maintain position when filming but maybe for the next time you can do some marks, signs on the table - also put a cloth under the front panel not to scratch it - and you missed to say that the belt was broken as I thought you will replace that to prevent any other damage to the cassettes

I think the belt go directly to the motor.

I think your best bet is to replace it or get another of the same model and use the part from it.
