      I agree 100% ONE HUGE COMPLAINT about the PAID COURSE. And that is this: I DID NOT JOIN THE PAID COURSE SOONER. Now whose fault is that? :-) Anuja you are so correct. Thank you again, and THANK YOU YOU PAUL, mi maestro.

      I totally agree with you, Anuja. The paid for course is worth every cent! I’m a big fan and I recommend it to everyone I know! The best course ever! And the Monday videos are a great add on. 😊

    I signed up to Paul's paid membership after a lot of debating back and forth with myself: Is it worth it, will I enjoy it, will I learn?' And the answer is yes!
    So, if anyone else is on the fence about buying the paid lessons, do it! And here's why:
    I am a SpanishwithPaul youtubevideo watcher for over a year and am now a paid member.
    1. Don't worry, what he is teaching works in Spain too. (I live in Barcelona, Spain).
    2. His program is laid out beautifully and skillfully where each lesson builds onto the next.
    3. The categories are broken down into bite size lessons so you can stop when you need and pick back up easily.
    4. After a lesson: there are lots of examples helping cement the topic.
    5. If you watch his free weekly lessons and don't know if you will get anything from his paid membership - yes you will. His free lessons only touch the surface of what this program has. I am kicking myself "Why didn't I start sooner?!'
    My Spanish has grown more with his lessons than it ever did living right here in Spain.
    Thank you Paul!

      My complaint as well. WHY DIDN'T I JOIN SOONER?? And I agree with all FIVE of your points. BEST INVESTMENT I EVER MADE.

    Quick question, Why did you put Comprarlo para "ti" más tarde instead para "tu". Can we use it interchangeably?

    • @CananaMan
      @CananaMan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Tú = You when used as the subject. "You came here yesterday.", "Tu viniste aqui ayer"
      Tu = possessive your. "This is your place", "este es tu lugar"
      Ti = You when used as the object(and usually paired with a preposition, like for, with, etc)
      Also, "con ti" transforms into "contigo".
      "This is for you." "es para ti"
      "I want to go with you." "Quiero ir contigo"
      Te = the pronoun you use kind of like "me", "lo", "la", "le", "su", etc.
      "I love you". "Te amo".
      "I spoke to you earlier" "Te hablé antes"
      Hope this helps!

    loving your online courses. I have a question, in another book (Paul Noble´s), it says that a more common way to phrase is use "I have the intention of" i.e. "Tengo la intencíon de". He says that "Plan" is more used by architects and the like etc. This is a "plan" of the building etc etc. Your thoughts? is that nonsense?

      Szabolcs, 19:23 says "I do not have ANY plans for tonight"; 20:05 says "I don't have plans for tomorrow." The difference is the word "any." When you want to use the word "any" in association with the word "plans", use "ninqún.

  • @Tony-hn3mz
    @Tony-hn3mz 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question paul. Planeo I plan. Do you not have to put yo in first? Yo planeo. Yo quiero. I've seen it written in spanish alot. Is this not the case or is it just mecican Spanish that doesn't put yo up front. Thanks.

    • @cdrdan
      @cdrdan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tom, as I understand, saying "Planeo" by itself means "I plan" because it is the first person singular conjunction of the verb "Planear" (to plan). However, if you wish to emphasize YOU truly do plan then adding "yo" should be used. But, it isn't natural to say "Yo" before every first person singular verb in Spanish as it sounds self-centered. If you say "Quiero", you are saying "I agree." But if you say "Yo quiero" it implies that you want to something that others may not want to. So, "Yo planeo" does indeed mean "I plan" but to native Spanish speakers, you will come across as being someone who plans when others don't. *I* hope that helps. Paul does a much better job explaining this, at least *I* think so. (see what I did there?)

    • @legaleagle46
      @legaleagle46 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. The personal subject pronouns are somewhat redundant in Spanish, because the verbs already tell us who is performing the action through their distinctive endings. As Dan Hall explained, is only in cases of wanting to show emphasis, contrast, or to avoid ambiguity (in the case of the third-person singular and plural, when the context does not already make it clear who the actor is) that Spanish uses the subject pronouns. Otherwise, they're omitted.

  • @trentintampa9328
    @trentintampa9328 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is ningún only used in conjunction with a negative idea behind it? I know other languages have special ways of communicating the idea of "not any". However, what if I wanted to ask "Do you have any candy?" Would I still use ningún? (¿Tienes ningún dulces?) Or what is I wanted to say "Any available seat is fine with me."? I would probably say "Qualquier silla disponible es bueno para mi".

    • @legaleagle46
      @legaleagle46 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You would not use "ningún" here, as that is only used in negative constructions. What you'd be saying by using "ningún" is "Don't you have any candy?" The way to say "Do you have any candy?" is simply to say "Is there candy?" "¿Hay dulces?"

    Your pronunciation seems excellent to me, with one small disagreement. You put a slight accent on the "e" in planeo. It didn't sound quite right, so I checked with Google Translate, and "she" says the word with a soft accent on the first syllable ("plan"), which is my understanding of how to pronounce an unaccented word.
    Native speakers: De acuerdo o no?

    • @legaleagle46
      @legaleagle46 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'm not a native speaker, but I've been speaking, reading, and writing Spanish for over 43 years, and I wouldn't trust Google Translate any further than I could throw it in terms of teaching correct pronunciation. "Pla-NE-o" is correct to my ear.
