I know the AC boats have made most seasoned racers somewhat inured to the insane AWA’s they can accomplish but even these cats, are for me, still taking never thought of lines. Just freekin’ awesome!
I know im not out there and don't know what other boats are around and these things move quick, but would it been quicker than a 360, to dump everything and maintain a bit of pace up to behind the start boat, bare away go behind him or..... drop down in front of him well before the overlap happened? Looks like you caught up a bit. Great race
@peteraitcheson3275 yeah we should have bailed out earlier, it was discussed in our crew debreif. We did end up beating Hooligan x40 (The boat that luffed us) which was great. We had some great upwind speed and picked a few good shifts.
Not sure if its just a camera angle trick, but at around 5:00 on your first upwind leg, it looks like your boom is sheeted in past the center line of the boat, is that actually what was happening and if so, was that intentional? And if it was, what benefit were you getting by doing that?
Same reason Americas cup boats sheet past centreline. The apparent wind angle upwind is so close to being in front of the boat it pays to sheet the sail past centreline.
Ohhh...non si capisce niente! Se è una gara questa....non si capisce con chi stia gareggiando! Vedo tante barche ai lati ma una vista dall' alto no? Solo così è monotono molto molto!!!!!

Haha thanks @splash0921, they certainly are epic boats to race. Does sometimes feel like you are as cool as the teams racing in the SailGP circuit 🤙
Is flying the windward hull down wind faster?

@@moaerdo1357 Ah, I guess I've never been on a boat heading upwind fast enough to allow that.

Low budget programs, buddy. no helicopters or drones here for media, just sailing and recording by go pro for the love of it 👍
