This lift is situated in a mixed use building near Berne, Switzerland. It was installed upon construction of the building in the mid 2000s. This lift is a very good example of what the Otis GeN2 lifts originally were built like.
The original construction was very similar to the Otis 2000 (MRL): The motor and the cables were directly suspended from the brickwork in the shaft head, therefore no forces were put on the guide rails. This resulted in a much more stable construction. The lift car too was built in a very similar fashion to the Otis 2000 lift cars: A solid steel frame was used to stabilise the lift car, which was suspended from the top. The model seen in this video too is not underslung, the deflecting sheaves are mounted on the cartop and covered by a metal plate.
Over time the GeN2 has undergone many changes. Newer models have thinner sheet metal and are much lighter, therefore needing less PUR belts for the same capacity. Also the motors have changed to now be a more compact and lighter construction compared to the one that can be seen here. Another change has been done to the diameter of the driving sheave: It has been shrunk from 100 mm to around 75 mm, reducing the bend radius of the PUR belts. Most of these changes are not welcome since they are mostly cost-saving measures and cut down the quality and longevity of the newer GeN2 lifts.

This motor is humongus compared to other gen2s this lift os older gen2 which is better and heavier. Like look at the lift car. İt does have a decent chasis. Newer gen2 doesnt even has one! Same for the motor. Look how big that thing is! The new gen2 motor is wayy worse and small

Indeed the Gen2s from 20 years ago were built much better and more durable than the ones built today - or even 10 years ago. Also I prefer the older TCBC controller over the new GECB (or GECB2 respectively) that is used nowadays.
