He could have shot the 19 year old in the leg or something & he would have got community service instead of going to jail.
If you know anatomy then the legs would be bad too, high chance of miss and the arteries running down your legs will make you bleed out within minutes. Shooting in the gut, takes couple hours to really die from it unless an artery is hit.
