This is my hunch, but I'm seeing them trying to emulate how china does things with the girlpla stuff. Chinese girlpla demand is on the rise, even though their animations were sparse and the last one i remember was released around 5 years ago. Hence, most of them don't even have any video and other supplementary media for them other than product lore and some comics here and there. Splurging on a full series that can be a hit or miss and directionless with a hodgepodge of creative members trying to move together. Mind you, 30 minute sisters is a line they made to cash in on the demand created by chinese companies so they are in the catching up phase and for now and just following their lead. Mind you, these products are bought mostly on the merit of their quality, and thus no mass-media influence much of their demand. Another great (or terrible, depending on your angle) example would be the Zoids Wild line. They invested a ton in the series, but added questionable design elements that alienated established fans (they mount them like on horseback, and the shows are targetted to boys age 10-14). Also an equivalent zoids wild kit costs roughly twice for an equivalent gunpla kit (less for smaller zoids, but way more for the bigger ones) which i assume is to recoup animation cost. Zoids Wild anime has some of the most beautiful 3D battles I've seen during it's launch.

One thing with the model kits is that with the scale, it's within the split for some of the more standard wargaming figures, though on the comparatively small side there which isn't as bad. They scale pretty close to 25mm figures, and still work with the 28-32mm ones for things, I'd gotten a few of the trucks and things because they work there for RPG use as well as terrain for modern/near future settings since they work rather well there.
Visited Japan a few months ago, went to a don quijote in takasaki and most of these kyoukai senki kits were in a 300 yen - 500 yen bargain bins. Great deal but it's also sad knowing these didn't sell well enough to begin with that's why they're selling these kits for dirt cheap. Also went to a don quijote in maebashi and it was the same scenario.

I personally love this model kit from the first time i saw it. Especially the design. And after watching several japanese reviewers it blew my mind how fun this kit to pose. Unfortunately it's kinda expensive in Indonesia at least for me 😂 maybe I'm just too broke 😂
no you're not, it is too expensive in indonesia, I have to flew to jpn and found it only about 500.000 idr, and could become even cheaper with tourist taxfree
i would say it's hard to say on one hand they got an ONA series and that would not have been greenlit if they did not think it achieved some metric of success, on the other it does reuse alot of parts to help keep costs down
i bought 2 Ghost MK1s because the MK2 is not available but not because of the show, it's because i love the animal aesthetic of them compared to non-Mobile Armor Gundam kits add 30 Minuite Missions to the mix and they are kitbasher's heaven
I got something like halfway into the first season of the anime as it aired. The anime really didn’t do any favors for these kits outside of the fights. Honestly tho, I love these kits, ghost is my favorite chunky boi and I love how well he poses. People really should try these kits cause it’s way less samey than a standard hg gundam build.
Yeah when I saw the kits they looked cool but the higher price point and other choices were chosen (mainly 30MM). I haven’t seen the anime tho but if I can get some of the kits for cheap I will cause they do look cool.
I feel like gunpla is expensive when it comes to UC or seed kits But kits like Ibo, witch from mercury and the build franchise are still affordable It also depends on the gunpla's design, popularity and gimmicks
What you said about anime reminds me a lot about Synduality another mecha anime made as promotio, this time for game that's in development hell. After 3 first episodes, the story feels like it doesn't go anywhere, and it's episodic. Not to mention MC becomes completely dickless to the point he lets go of characters who screw him over twice and almost cause him to lose his partner.
If only I could pay for the shipping at the moment, I'd try to spread those untouched kits around. Folks I know complain all the time about practicality in robot design. These could've vibed with em. I'm just busy and poor, so couldn't get em.
This series have some of the best design mecha out there. It is a same that the anime was terrible. I only watch to the point where the Ghost show up, then I realized there is a nationalist undertone which I don't vibe with. The show portrait the foreign forces as an evil tyrannical power that suppress Japanese people. Also, all the invading forces are enemies of Japan during the second World War. While every Japanese in the show are always nice and ready to help strangers in need selflessly. The whole show feel like a hollow propaganda made by Japanese nationalists.
Here in my place these kits are as cheap as something like $3USD, people here basically only buy them as "weapon packs" because they are seriously cheaper than real weapon packs
Sadly here in Indonesia their prices are the same as early RG or even some MG, even though I wanted some of them but I still thinking I'd be better go for a RG than HG Kyoukai Senki
The only good part about Kyoukai Senki is how Bandai obviously spent a ton of money on it thinking it was gonna be huge only for G Witch to effortlessly beat its ass
i have one kyokai senki kit which i love except for the legs on proto gouyo. i think anime was good and fights were awesome but what it suffered from not having those peak performance best music fights, even 86 had some those scenes kept pulling audience back to the anime and showed the interest in mechs. while the fights in kyokai senki were fast paced and had no subplot to look upto. the most interesting thing was the ghost ai mech but i felt it was a missed opportunity to create a solid villian and cement the anime in audience fans. thay made quality anime but story werent upto the par

I didn't pick these up back when the show was on the air because the kits were more pricey than a standard HG and the designs are pretty hit or miss. Favorites like the badass Jogan sold out quickly while I have absolutely no interest for the other two protagonist MAILeS since they look like Foghorn Leghorn and Tweety Bird. I did manage to grab the HG Byakuchi FGE Color when it was on sale and it's a pretty good kit. The Protogouyo is another badass kit from a spinoff short series but again, quite pricey.
They should make Nadesico model kits instead of Kyokai Senki I'm bet it would be successful especially if they did Reboot Nadesico with more story than the original
The only thing i hate about protogouyo is the feet,i much prefer if he get genbu's feet instead, but less than a week i after i build it,i accidentally broke the waist peg, maybe because i play to much with it,anyway it's an easy fix but the i lose a lil articulation at waist but it doesn't stop it from make those awesome pose
Wanna know whats the interesting and funny part These line has pbandai kits but due to not so good sales and reception of the anime they decided to make it regular release😂
Some months ago, I shared awareness of this line to the Facebook Captain power Future force group. Hopefully some fans of the 80s show can make some mileage out of making Bio Dreads out of these guys.
I've been meaning to watch the show but I just can't find the right time to watch anime this year. As for the kits, I always find the limbs weird looking so I've been passing on them until I saw Protogouyo. Till now, it's the only Kyoukai Senki kit that I have.
i liked the red one with the big sword, and the black one with the multiple arms and grabby claws. I get the feeling if i bothered watching the show i'd be less inclined to get them i bought more gunpla before i started watching gundam. Now that I have, all the SEED product puts a bad taste in my mouth, I'm forever perturbed that there is no appreciable volume of product for Gundam X, G Gundam, Turn A Gundam, Reconguista in G, and don't really have any drive to pick up anything else.
30MM was all about customizability and is relatively low cost, which people liked. Kyoukai senki was on the higher end of HG prices and you can't just kitbash them with other model kits.
The design of these MS kits are amazing. The plastic is high quality. The joints are stable. There is, in my opinion, little to criticize about the design itself. However, I would attribute the lack of interest to the anime. The reason I didn’t invest in these kits is simply because there’s no physical person inside. There’s no cockpit. It’s a weird teleportation/neauralink thing? I don’t even know. I dropped the anime when I saw it was some weird no-cockpick situation, and then never bothered with the kits further.
when I first saw this line and the anime the first thing I remembered was a demo I played on a game phantom brigade, it kinda is similar in a lot of ways so I was interested but same as the anime fell off so did the line. great kits though
I actually bought some. I love some of its designs but sometimes it feels hollow on the arms and legs. I unfortunately didn't finish the anime, too much immature drama. But mech combat is great!
Kyoukai senki kits are good and fun to build, but the issue lies with the marketing of the IP (the anime series). The fight scenes are good but the backstory is the type of "try to be edgy but not offend anyone" and a mismatch of concepts from different IP. It ends up like a chimera of misfits and fails to tell an interesting story.
People like collecting things long term, I guess. So the first wrong is the scale, should be a little bit smaller to 1:100 scale. The designer liked cars so they're metal cars scale. This is Bandai not Tomy though 😂 Really hard to start a new IP unless the products are dirt cheap. High production cost right now is not really the time.
I think the main problem is that the anime underperformed horribly in terms of plot character development. The show was a mess after the Ghost was defeated. The MC returned seemingly a changed man, but that didn't go far; he's back to being a snowflake quickly. And then the killer screw up is when the, uh... US counterpart(?) became too powerful. All of a sudden, Japan's resistance and all its other conquerors are all friends. Some of those people they actually worked with have good personalities, but they're still soldiers from conqueror factions. There's not enough tension between them as they worked together. But yes, the kits are good stuff. And there are boxes for weapon sets and support vehicles, so you can really put some love in your kits with ease. The ones I like the most are Byakuchi, Reiki, and Proto Gouyou.
I would recpmmmen adding into your kyokai senki list is the carrier thing the HGHG Armored Special Carrier its perfect as a carrying vehicle for other hg/Rg kits and its in sale right now in some shops in Ghills
Its really a case of good design and product, but with poor anime reception. These units are awesome, I bought few and even the trucks. They are, sadly, being put on the stack because really, a lot more new gundam themed kits that are cooler.
Girl Gun Lady did worse butthey was based on a live action yet look anime. Sure the Human Figures was fine but the neon space themed Gun kits are a hard sell outside japan Even the one ad on pack they got was mostly reused as a 30min Sisters set this year.
This is in huge constrast to the YuGiOh kits which are all selling out fast. Exodia and the Egyptian Gods sold out fast or had their prices jacked up. Bandai management (I like to characterize them like a bunch of old Japanese businessmen who still use fax machines) don't really know how to make hits. Sure, the kits themselves are all pretty good but it seems mismanagement is the norm to expect from them. Witch from Mercury did well but could have been longer and increased the length of the hype a bit longer. They also ruined Evolution by expecting the Gundam name to make a liveservice Overwatch clone do well. Way to much greed/pay2win in their games overall... They have access to some great IPs they could make kits for... Armored Core is one. Other FromSoft IP like Elden Ring are ripe for some IP crossovers. 30MM is pretty much a minimal investment but it only proves attachment to a franchise or IP is what catches the consumer eye.
The anime was all right. The model kits however are all bangers. They stray away from the 'humanish-Gundam' proportions and are totally a breath of fresh air. As a robot fan, loved building some of these that I could get my hands on.
I've looked over what kits are available over on HLJ, honestly most look pretty ugly to me due to their heads and colors, couple got some nice looking body designs but heads just ruin it, Ghost is best looking one out of them for me but i would still pick a gunpla over it any day. They are also stupidly overpriced in my own country in stores that bothered stocking them.
I don't really watch anime but built a lot of mech plamos. Personally I find the KS HG's has limited articulation and the joints design will wear out faster than PC/non-PC joints if compared to most of Bandai HG gunplas.
I love the Kyoukai Senki kits, but NOBODY watched the anime. I watched the show and the OVA, but the main show was pretty basic. Underwhelming even. I still want to buy some of the kits, but Kyoukai Senki is a known flop unfortunately.
Story sux, kid-friendly and war just doesn't work. That black mech was cool until the scene where it was trapped in a building full of TNT and leaving unscathed after the entire building exploded, no explanation whatsoever. Dropped the show after that
I'd say it's flawed premise was a big turnoff, some decisions there I just ask why? They could've just made the country be a colony in a world being fought over by other interplanetary nations and corporations, instead of Japan being colonized.
I never watched the anime. I thought the were interesting and wanted to pick some up. But in the states when I found them they were really over priced.
Because the show was degusting and quite frankly so bad at conveying it´s themes that it almost could have passed as satire. I really wanted to get the spinoff manga designs, but then i saw the first to second or third episode of the show and was so disgusted that i refuse to buy any of the kits from it.
@@verbatos9498 The show is basically the equivalent to a theoretical German show, where Germany is divided in to three parts and under the oppressive rule of Jewish people and other ethnicities that germany (or in this case japan) tried to genocide. In the first episode the main character literally goes on a monologue about how japanese people did not breed enough children and how they are now an oppressed group in japan thanks to that. Meanwhile the orphan main character lives in a nicer and larger apartment then most of the people in the first world.
I heard the Kyoukkou no Souki kits sold better because of expanded customizeability and the fact that the shorter ONA was better received than the main show

I personally love this model kit from the first time i saw it. Especially the design. And after watching several japanese reviewers it blew my mind how fun this kit to pose. Unfortunately it's kinda expensive in Indonesia at least for me 😂 maybe I'm just too broke 😂
no you're not, it is too expensive in indonesia, I have to flew to jpn and found it only about 500.000 idr, and could become even cheaper with tourist taxfree
i would say it's hard to say
on one hand they got an ONA series and that would not have been greenlit if they did not think it achieved some metric of success,
on the other it does reuse alot of parts to help keep costs down
Those senki kit are phenomenal but the anime doesn't do well but I do think they gonna stick with them for a while cause these kit are fire
Ghost was my only favorite character
i bought 2 Ghost MK1s because the MK2 is not available
but not because of the show, it's because i love the animal aesthetic of them compared to non-Mobile Armor Gundam kits
add 30 Minuite Missions to the mix and they are kitbasher's heaven
Would love to see a similar video but on the success(?) Of 30 minutes lines
I learned of that show because I bought the Ghost.
If I'm being honest, i wasn't really a fan myself when i saw their design. But up until my sister bought me one as a gift, i might grab more.
I have three of the kits and I thoroughly enjoyed the bills, but sometimes the price is a little expensive hence why I haven’t gotten that many kits
I feel like gunpla is expensive when it comes to UC or seed kits
But kits like Ibo, witch from mercury and the build franchise are still affordable
It also depends on the gunpla's design, popularity and gimmicks
The fact that I love these to bits, but only 1 out of GOSHDANG TWELVE kyokai senki kits I own is not at a 50% discount says a lot...
And it should be noted, Japanese ultranationalists genuinely think every other country wants to colonize Japan
I like the design. I saw them everytime I visit hobby shops. It's just that they are too expensive for something that's not very famous.
I wish these kits were that cheap here in the US -- I always see them priced as high as a fricking Messer.
i have one kyokai senki kit which i love except for the legs on proto gouyo. i think anime was good and fights were awesome but what it suffered from not having those peak performance best music fights, even 86 had some those scenes kept pulling audience back to the anime and showed the interest in mechs. while the fights in kyokai senki were fast paced and had no subplot to look upto. the most interesting thing was the ghost ai mech but i felt it was a missed opportunity to create a solid villian and cement the anime in audience fans. thay made quality anime but story werent upto the par
@1996starter Yep, for now my protogouyo feet is not loose but i do sometimes worry if it falls off with me not noticing 😅
@@princetrumz u got the best kits as standard type go. the feet are are messy but once on an action base i think thats where these kits shine. best of luck in your quest to collect these i do find easy and cheap deals on yahoo auction japan and mercari but only difficulty facing is in find ghost mk 1 and 2
I didn't pick these up back when the show was on the air because the kits were more pricey than a standard HG and the designs are pretty hit or miss.
They should make Nadesico model kits instead of Kyokai Senki
I'm bet it would be successful especially if they did Reboot Nadesico with more story than the original
I bought one when they first released, but unfortunately I have limited "resources" and it wasn't interesting enough for me to buy more
The only thing i hate about protogouyo is the feet,i much prefer if he get genbu's feet instead, but less than a week i after i build it,i accidentally broke the waist peg, maybe because i play to much with it,anyway it's an easy fix but the i lose a lil articulation at waist but it doesn't stop it from make those awesome pose
Wanna know whats the interesting and funny part
These line has pbandai kits but due to not so good sales and reception of the anime they decided to make it regular release😂
I get the feeling if i bothered watching the show i'd be less inclined to get them
i bought more gunpla before i started watching gundam. Now that I have, all the SEED product puts a bad taste in my mouth, I'm forever perturbed that there is no appreciable volume of product for Gundam X, G Gundam, Turn A Gundam, Reconguista in G, and don't really have any drive to pick up anything else.
I always thought that the kits look really cool. but they were very expensive where I live and whena normal HG is 5€ cheaper then the choice is clear
Interesting that 30MM kits blew up while Kyoukai Senki got ignored.
30MM was all about customizability and is relatively low cost, which people liked. Kyoukai senki was on the higher end of HG prices and you can't just kitbash them with other model kits.
@@flamerounin2welp there additional weapon and limbs part but still to paint tho for kyoukai one... kinda agree with you 👍
The design of these MS kits are amazing.
There is a cockpit but they got locked in and kinda like a vr headset or something if my memory is right
Sucks the quality of the show wasn't there cause the KS kits are excellent builds.
I want Bandai to keep supporting the kits as a pure toy line like 30MM, but that's wishful thinking.
when I first saw this line and the anime the first thing I remembered was a demo I played on a game phantom brigade, it kinda is similar in a lot of ways so I was interested but same as the anime fell off so did the line. great kits though
I hope this is not gonna happen to the 30 minute mission kit of armored core 😢.
Actually I look passed these kits because they are much more expensive than regular HG
Too bad I was planning to do a kitbash of it
Wait what? I'm seeing all of these kits at 25+ USD on US web stores
I actually bought some. I love some of its designs but sometimes it feels hollow on the arms and legs. I unfortunately didn't finish the anime, too much immature drama. But mech combat is great!
Kyoukai senki is a good hg kit,but the price for big kit like ghost, protogouyo and ginga was a lil too pricey for bootleg enjoyer like me
Kyoukai senki kits are good and fun to build, but the issue lies with the marketing of the IP (the anime series). The fight scenes are good but the backstory is the type of "try to be edgy but not offend anyone" and a mismatch of concepts from different IP. It ends up like a chimera of misfits and fails to tell an interesting story.
over here gunpla prices are already steep (Europe) and those were like the price of a MG for a HG.... yeah they didn't sell
People like collecting things long term, I guess. So the first wrong is the scale, should be a little bit smaller to 1:100 scale. The designer liked cars so they're metal cars scale. This is Bandai not Tomy though 😂
Really hard to start a new IP unless the products are dirt cheap. High production cost right now is not really the time.
IMO 30 Minute Mission/Sister/Fantasy prob their more success line....
not even have anime and many ppl buying
This was a sad example of amazing model kits held back by a bland anime. I was actually really interested in these kits until I watched the show.
incredible line of kit, flop was caused by the badly received anime and also because it is not gundam.
Girl Gun Lady did worse butthey was based on a live action yet look anime. Sure the Human Figures was fine but the neon space themed Gun kits are a hard sell outside japan Even the one ad on pack they got was mostly reused as a 30min Sisters set this year.
I love the designs but the anime whas like if someone tried to remake Code Geass without all the camp that made it work.
Idk I kinda like the design. It has some originality, not just a gundam ripoff.
They are also stupidly overpriced in my own country in stores that bothered stocking them.
i got a kenbu zan and it was awsome
I want to buy the auxiliary transport vehicle but after seeing the price, i said hell nah and dropped any interest i had to the series.
I never watched the anime. I thought the were interesting and wanted to pick some up. But in the states when I found them they were really over priced.
Reason number one : the robot design are ugly af
I just realized you're the same person that made the third party video. Good Stuff👍
Because the anime flopped. Imagine making a mystery why mc look like they become emotionless just to explain the reason is he killed someone, LOL
I own one of them, because i like gunpla with alot guns, the rest melee unit are not my thing 😂😂
At this point I will just get 3rd party a bit cheaper better quality
Also scalper has show bandai they can make more money
Theyre just too expensive for their size
Because the show was degusting and quite frankly so bad at conveying it´s themes that it almost could have passed as satire. I really wanted to get the spinoff manga designs, but then i saw the first to second or third episode of the show and was so disgusted that i refuse to buy any of the kits from it.
Why were you disgusted by the show? I haven't watched it yet and want to know if it might not be worth it.
Oh wow
No doubt. The Anime was a complete failure so these kits wouldn't sell.
by any chance have you obtained amaim ghost yet?
I heard the Kyoukkou no Souki kits sold better because of expanded customizeability and the fact that the shorter ONA was better received than the main show
AMAIM was so terrible. Why didn't they just make a 30MM anime?
