    In this episode of Legends of Nikon we pay our respects to the AF Micro Nikkor Z 60mm f/2.8 D lens. A true legend among legends.
    The Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8 D is a versatile and highly regarded macro lens, perfect for capturing stunning close-up shots with exceptional detail and clarity. This lens is a favorite among photographers who specialize in macro, portrait, and product photography due to its sharpness, color accuracy, and reliable performance.
    Key features of the Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8 D include a 1:1 reproduction ratio, allowing photographers to capture life-size images of their subjects with intricate detail. The fast f/2.8 maximum aperture provides excellent low-light performance and enables beautiful background blur (bokeh), making it ideal for isolating subjects from their surroundings.
    The optical construction of the lens comprises 8 elements in 7 groups, ensuring high resolution and contrast. The Close-Range Correction (CRC) system maintains image quality at both close and distant focusing distances. With a minimum focusing distance of just 0.22 meters, this lens allows photographers to get incredibly close to their subjects, revealing details that are often invisible to the naked eye.
    The Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8 D is compatible with both full-frame (FX) and APS-C (DX) Nikon DSLR cameras, offering versatility for different photography needs. Its compact and lightweight design, weighing only 440 grams, makes it easy to carry and handle, even during extended shooting sessions.
    Autofocus is driven by the camera’s motor, providing quick and accurate focusing. For precise manual focus adjustments, the lens features a smooth and responsive focus ring. This is particularly beneficial for macro photography, where fine-tuning focus is often necessary.
    The Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8 D is constructed with durable materials, ensuring longevity and reliability. Its robust build quality makes it suitable for a variety of shooting conditions.
    In summary, the Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8 D is a high-performance macro lens that excels in close-up photography, delivering exceptional sharpness, color fidelity, and ease of use. Whether capturing the intricate beauty of nature, detailed product shots, or stunning portraits, this lens is a valuable addition to any photographer’s kit.

    This was one in our check-out pool i got spoiled with in the 90's. I found one in near mint condition several years ago at a pawn shop for just over $100. It's my second most-used prime, right behind an 85mm.

    Great lens, especially on DSLR, but difficult to use on Z cameras with manual focus, due to a relatevely short focus ring throw (on medium and longer distances, while for macro it’s fine)

    Don't have this one but do have the Tokina 100mm f2.8D. One of the better macro lenses for the F mount. Another would be the Zeiss 50mm f2 makro planar. So not a full makro because it goes to 1:2. But one of the sharpest 50mm lenses out there.

      I did comment a bit further up, I do have both the Nikkor 60mm and the Tokina 100 2.8D. Whilst the Tokina is a great lens in its own right, I do prefer the rendering of the 60mm Nikkor.

    Just coming up to speed on Nikkor vintage lenses. Will the D lenses autofocus on F100 and F4 bodies? Those are the two AF bodies I bought mint and trying to find the best lenses to use on them. Thank you and take care.

    • @ZWadePhoto
      @ZWadePhoto  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@stevenwaldstein2249 I actually had to double check, had me doubting myself haha according to google both camera should auto focus D series lenses 🤙🤙🤙🤙
      You should note, I’m not sure if this is fact on the f100 because it was released a year before G series lenses, but for sure on the F4, G series lenses will auto focus, but because there is no aperture ring in G lenses, they can only be used in P and S mode. There’s no way to control aperture.
      Again, You’d have to ask around about G lenses in the F100.
      Hope I was informative for you :)
