Nostalgic. Late 70's and early 80s, this song ruled the airwaves courtesy of VOK. Tot Centre was wild. Wazee kama Micah, Kimakal, Kapteret and William Kongara had their radios tuned the whole day. Life was good.
Moreno batamba and Coco nzigo mike both were my friends and I loved their music and their first music was Dunia ni nduara back in 1981 and I came close and established a brotherly with strong friendship in the early 80 s during my time of service in the Kenya Nys and later in the Kenya police service. I also attended Moreno burial ceremony in langata cemetery in 18 Sept 94 and Coco nzigo mike his soloist in 1995 otober. So May our Almighty God rest their souls in internal peace and also not forgotten is their bringer and supporter who brought them to . . East Africa in 1980 with other musicians and landed in Tanzania their sponsor was . Baba Ngastone the late of orchestra villunga wa illunga according to what the late Moreno and Coco nzigo mike told me Infact the duo had came from Sweden after having performed their music and I got a shirt as a present and batamba Moreno was sick ....and the worst happened and he is a legendary musician. That I loved most including the singer of bibi tamaa song and leader of orchestra shika shika
Moreno batamba was my great friend and together with his colleague I came to know them in 1993 while I was working with the police at central police station and we were on night and special duty operations that's when I met the duo and we're about to be hovered in to a police vehicle and I recognized his voice and he told as that he is Moreno batamba, infact their visa had expired by 6 months but I and my squad during that operation we forgave them bila kitu kidogo cos Mimi mwenyewe I has or had not accepted that in my service with the Kenya police service. That's how we came to know each other although I came to hear about orchestra Moja one much earlier while I was with the Nys and their hitting music was pili mswahili so may god rest their soles in peace. R.i.p brothers Moreno and coconzigo mike
